Chapter 21 - Excuse Me, Please Move

Chapter 21: Excuse Me, Please Move

Just as Luo Yun knew, chaos was inevitable. Where there were people, there was jianghu, and ghouls were no exception. Though the Genkami Island security team worked hard to maintain order, no place was ever free of psychopaths. The downtown area was fine, but in places far from the city centre, or in suburban alleys, an unfriendly atmosphere always lingered. Especially in the “erased sector,” a place deleted from the map—thanks to Nayue, Luo Yun knew a lot about it. That area was once Genkami Island’s 27th abandoned district. It had sunk into the sea due to an accident and was later salvaged. A thoroughly lawless place. The buildings there were crowded like ruins, filled with johns and prostitutes, criminals engaging in illegal activities or trade, and depraved demons gathered for violence, money, or other purposes. It was a forgotten zone. The management commune knew of its existence, but under the principle that rubbish belonged in the bin, the security team only tightened control over the border areas. Luo Yun didn’t understand why at first, but later he got it. Destroying the erased sector would require immense manpower and resources, and the results wouldn’t justify the effort. It seemed unreasonable, but doing nothing was actually the most practical approach. Two people entered the shop. Leading was a tall, bear-like blond foreign man, dressed in a white suit, a dark red shirt, and green leather shoes that made heavy steps on the café floor. Calling him a polar bear wasn’t a joke—his arms, straining the suit, were nearly as big as Luo Yun’s head. “Long time no see, Miss Kirishima!” His voice was as rough as an old bellows, instinctively reminding one of a man-eating beast. “I’ve told you many times, you’re not welcome here!” Kirishima Touka’s face was grim, her attitude clearly meant to drive him away. “That won’t do.” The blond man wasn’t angered by the girl’s reaction. He took a few steps forward, his explosive muscles nearly bursting the suit. “Your combat strength is the key to change…” “Jason, be mindful, there are others here.” A voice came from the figure following the blond man. It was clearly a man’s voice, but eerily affected, like something deliberately exaggerated, reminiscent of a transvestite from a nightclub. Luo Yun’s gaze moved past the man. A man in a floral shirt, with a buzz cut and colourful sunglasses, rested a hand on his cheek, sighing like a noblewoman. Heavy makeup, lipstick, and blush—this wasn’t just a transvestite, but an outright pervert. Luo Yun, used to seeing beautiful girls, suddenly felt an urge to vomit. Was this guy challenging his physical limits? Both men wore demon registration bracelets on their wrists, marking their identity as demons. “Customers, the shop is closed today.” Kirishima Touka said coldly. Her tone was outright dismissive. This service attitude left the two girls slightly dissatisfied, but they didn’t take it to heart. The two who just entered were indeed off-putting, and from the conversation, they seemed acquainted. Besides, the sky had already darkened. Luo Yun had no intention of meddling. Though he vaguely recognized the two men’s identities, in this strange world, ghouls couldn’t stir up much trouble. But as Sakurajima Mai approached the door, the figure blocking the only exit showed no intention of moving. “Could you please step aside?” Sakurajima Mai frowned. “Such a pretty girl, I’m so jealous.” The perverted man spoke in an envious tone, his eyes scanning the girl. “Hey! You two, they’re my customers, let them go!” Seeing this, Kirishima Touka slammed her tray on the counter, her violet eyes brimming with hostility. “No can do. They heard our plan, so… I’m taking them with me. And you too, of course.” The blond man grinned. “This way, even the former ‘One-Eye’ can’t ignore us anymore, right?” “Keep causing trouble, and I’ll call the police.” Kirishima Touka threatened. The demon registration bracelets for ghouls could detect RC cell concentrations in the air, triggering an alarm and alerting the Genkami Island security team if a ghoul used their kagune. A massive kagune emerged from the man’s hand, but the bracelet remained silent. The deep purple scale kagune, like pangolin skin, was about half a metre long, hard enough to easily slice through a thick concrete wall. Sakurajima Mai and Kasumigaoka Utaha, unaware of what was happening until now, were struck with terror at this horrifying sight. Despite their education, they were just girls. Kasumigaoka Utaha’s legs gave out, and she sank back into her chair. Sakurajima Mai, in disbelief, staggered back. “What… is this?” Demons were real, but few had actually seen their true forms. Especially a monster like this, appearing so abruptly. It was enough to give anyone psychological trauma. Sakurajima Mai stumbled back a few steps until a hand gently steadied her from behind, preventing her from falling.
