Chapter 689: Chapter 0689: Male and Female Tang Ming
"What on earth happened? Why is Tang Ming so anxious?"
Xia Wei’er looked in the direction Tang Ming had left, wondering to herself.
"Yeah? Even if the sky fell, that guy could use it as a blanket to cover himself, why is he so panicky this time?"
Liu Mengting also furrowed her brows tightly, very curious about what had happened, for something to make Tang Ming care so much.
"I don’t know what happened to Brother Tang Ming, I just want to know if he can make it back in time?"
Chen Cang’s face was on the verge of tears, sorrowful enough to cry; if Tang Ming couldn’t make it back, then he would be ruined.
"Relax, relax, hey, if Brother Tang Ming said he could make it back, then he definitely can, hey."
Li Xiaoli patted Chen Cang on the shoulder, comforting him with absolute certainty.
"Tianyang Orphanage, I’ve searched through so many orphanages but never visited this one. I never expected that the clues to my background would be there." After starting his Mercedes, Tang Ming hurriedly left the school for the North Suburb, feeling very conflicted. Since someone had come looking for Tang Ming this time, it meant they must know about his parents, even if they weren’t his parents themselves. He had to figure out their identity; only then could he uncover the truth about his own origin.
Tianjiao Middle School was located in the southern suburbs of Songlan City, while Tianyang Orphanage, that Tang Ming needed to visit, was in the northern suburbs of Songlan City. The two places were nearly across the entire city from each other, and it would take a long time to travel back and forth.
Tang Ming pushed the car to its limit. He had an exam in the afternoon, but more importantly, he wanted to clear up his origins as soon as possible. So he relied on his superb driving skills to speed through red lights and rush at high speeds. After all, the car belonged to Li Xiaoli, any points deducted would be on her, as for fines and the like, there was plenty of time to deal with them after the more urgent business was finished. What he needed most now was time.
Tang Ming raced all the way, arriving at Tianyang Orphanage in the shortest time possible.
Entering the orphanage, Tang Ming went straight for the director’s office; he knew Ma Benyue would have instructed the director to keep the person looking for Tang Ming.
"Who’s looking for Tang Ming?"
Tang Ming burst into the director’s office, panting as he shouted.
Everyone in the office stared at Tang Ming in shock, and Tang Ming was also taken aback by what he saw inside.
He saw several martial artists wearing Ma Family training clothes had tied up a well-dressed middle-aged couple to the chairs, and a white-haired elderly man was standing helplessly between the two groups of people.
"Tang Shao, you finally arrived."
One of the martial artists immediately jumped in front of Tang Ming: "Do you still recognize me?"
"You look kind of familiar, who are you?" Tang Ming blinked uncertainly at the stylishly dressed young man.
"I’m Ah Huo, the Ah Huo who was in charge of the shanty town demolition."
Ah Huo grinned, introducing himself cheerfully.
"Ah Huo?"
Tang Ming was slightly taken aback, looking at Ah Huo’s hair: "Your hair?"
"Don’t call me Ah Huo; to you, I’m Tang Shao, just call me Ah Huo."
Ah Huo jumped in fright, hurriedly waved his hands, then touched his hair, laughing awkwardly: "After being taught a lesson by Tang Shao a few times, I’ve turned over a new leaf and started anew, even dyeing my hair back. Now I’m an apprentice at the Ma Family Martial Arts Hall, from now on, I will practice martial arts earnestly, and I won’t bully anyone ever again."
"That’s admirable, knowing your mistakes and correcting them is the greatest virtue, but you said you won’t bully people anymore, what’s going on here?"
Tang Ming pointed at the middle-aged couple who were tied up, confused.
"This... We had no choice, they insisted on leaving, so to wait for you, I had no choice but to tie them up. It was the Family Head’s order to keep the people here by any means necessary."
Ah Huo shrank his neck, nervously explaining, "But you can rest assured, we absolutely did not use violence; we just made them stay here to wait for you."
"Fine, fine, just untie us." Tang Ming waved his hand impatiently, then looked at the middle-aged couple with a mix of emotions.
"Who on earth are you, and by what right do you detain us? I’m going to sue you!" the somewhat plump middle-aged man bellowed angrily as soon as his mouth was freed.
"Who are you, and what is your relationship with Tang Ming?"
Tang Ming asked without answering.
"We, we are her parents." The middle-aged man hesitated for a moment, then said through clenched teeth.
Upon hearing this, Tang Ming felt his head spin, stared at the couple with trembling lips, and for a moment, didn’t know what to say.
The time in the office fell silent, and Huo Ge, unsure of what was happening, quickly left with his two underlings. They knew this was Tang Ming’s private matter; they were only responsible for retaining the people, and were not allowed to inquire about anything else, leaving the matter entirely in Tang Ming’s hands.
"Are you really Tang Ming’s parents?"
After calming his emotions, Tang Ming couldn’t help but roar, "Why did you abandon him back then, how could you bear to ignore your own child?"
"Young man, when we got together, neither of our families approved, so we eloped to get married. Life was too tough back then, and after having a child, we couldn’t afford to raise her, so we left her at an orphanage. Over the years, we’ve always thought about bringing our child back. Now that our situation has finally improved, we immediately came looking for her," the man said somberly.
"Yes, my poor child, I don’t know where she is now," sobbed the woman, "it’s all our fault, we should never have left her, no matter how hard or tough it was."
"There must be a bitter story, there must be a bitter story." Tang Ming breathed rapidly, finding great comfort in his heart; he had always believed there was a reason his parents abandoned him, and now it was finally confirmed.
"Cough cough, young friend, who are you, and who were those people just now?" the old director stroked his beard and asked with uncertainty.
"I am the Tang Ming they’re looking for," Tang Ming took a deep breath and said loudly.
"What?"
All three people were stunned.
"Impossible, you’re not the person we’re looking for!"
The middle-aged man shook his head repeatedly, very certain of his words.
"I am Tang Ming."
Tang Ming frowned slightly, his expression turning ugly as he said coldly, "Since you don’t want to recognize me, I won’t force you. I’ve lived all these years without you, and whether you’re there or not doesn’t mean much to me."
"Young man, we’re looking for a girl, you—you really aren’t the person we’re looking for!"
The woman wiped away her tears and looked at Tang Ming oddly.
"A girl?"
Tang Ming exclaimed in surprise and shock, instinctively looking down at his crotch—had he undergone a gender change?
"Cough cough, young friend, this couple is indeed looking for a girl, you might have made a mistake?"
The old director looked at Tang Ming awkwardly, pulling out a file bag, "Take a look, this is Tang Ming’s record. Does it match yours?"
"Let me see."
After taking the file and giving it a glance, Tang Ming’s entire face darkened; the couple was looking for a girl named Tang Ming, not him.
