My Co-renting Lady Boss
Chapter 503: Zhou Jian’s Little Maneuver

Chapter 503: Chapter 503: Zhou Jian’s Little Maneuver

"You’re seeking death..."

Zhao Shuyi flew into a rage, raising his hand for another strike.

"Stop." Just then, Jack got out of the car and sneered in disdain:

"Beating a woman in broad daylight, what kind of man are you?"

"Who the hell are you, and what’s it to you?"

Zhao Shuyi looked at Jack with displeasure.

"My name is Yang Wei, but you can also call me Jack," said Jack, squinting his eyes coldly.

"Yang... Young Master." Upon hearing this, Zhao Shuyi’s complexion changed drastically.

Nowadays, Yang Wei had become the top young master of Songlan City. Both the Zhou and Ma families had been dealt with by his people, and even disciples from other major families like Sun Zhuangjia and Ma Zhisong looked up to Yang Wei. Naturally, Zhao Shuyi had heard of Jack’s reputation and was so frightened that he bent over in apology repeatedly:

"Sorry, sorry, I didn’t realize you were Yang Young Master. I’m Zhao Shuyi, I..."

"I don’t care who you are. Now get lost immediately, or you and your family will disappear from Songlan City."

Jack cut off Zhao Shuyi’s words impatiently and stated unequivocally.

"No, Young Master, please hear me out..."

Zhao Shuyi wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, mustering the courage to explain. Now that Jack was a major shareholder of New Minghuang Group, if he could just get on good terms with Yang Wei, he wouldn’t have to suck up to Zhou Jian, and the Zhao family’s problem would be easily solved.

"I told you to get lost, didn’t you hear me?"

Jack glared with an intimidating fury as he yelled.

"Yes, yes, yes!"

Seeing Jack’s anger, Zhao Shuyi quickly scooted away.

"Are you all right?" After Zhao Shuyi left, Jack looked at Song Xue’er gently.

"I’m fine, thank you!"

Song Xue’er picked up her document bag, gave Jack a grateful glance, and then prepared to leave.

"Wait a second, are you looking for a job?"

Seeing the resume in Song Xue’er’s hand, Jack quickly asked.

"Yes, I’m about to graduate, so I have to start looking for a job," Song Xue’er nodded.

"How about this, I just took over a company and am in need of a secretary. Would you be interested in being my secretary?"

Jack invited enthusiastically.

"Secretary?"

Song Xue’er glanced at the Ferrari behind Jack and hugged her arms defensively.

"Is it really just a simple secretary position?"

Having been associated with someone like Zhao Shuyi before, Song Xue’er was very aware of the unspoken rules between men and women, so her guard was up strong now.

"Of course, but... when necessary, I hope you can pretend to be my girlfriend."

Jack further clarified his requirement.

"Sorry, I won’t sell myself out for a job."

Song Xue’er flatly refused Jack’s offer without hesitation.

"Wait a second, I didn’t mean anything else." Jack quickly raised his hand, explaining:

"Rest assured, I swear on my life I’ll never touch you. I have always been a clean and upright person. But due to business, I inevitably need to socialize, and I must sometimes pretend for appearances. That’s why I’d like you to act as my girlfriend when necessary, so I won’t offend friends and can maintain my purity."

Upon hearing this, Song Xue’er looked at Jack with a bewildered face. In her experience, young masters like Jack typically enjoyed playing with women. Could it be that the man before her was truly honorable?

"Don’t worry, I’m telling the absolute truth. You can start as an intern for a while to see if I’m deceiving you."

Jack showed a sincere smile, swearing earnestly.

"All right." Song Xue’er nodded, she really needed a job right now,

"If you... then if I leave and resign, would that be okay?"

"Hahaha, absolutely no problem."

Jack burst into laughter as he opened the car door, gesturing for Song Xue’er to get in.

After Song Xue’er got into the car, Jack smiled contentedly, having been looking for excuses to avoid hanging out with the likes of Sun Zhuangjia; and now, encountering a woman who wasn’t money-minded, he finally found the excuse he needed to deal with those people.

Once Song Xue’er was in the car, she felt anxious, but as Jack focused on driving without making any advances on her, she began to relax.

"Sir, what’s the name of your company, and what does it do?"

Song Xue’er asked timidly.

"I’m currently headed to a meeting at the company, and when you get there, you’ll know," Jack said with a mysterious smile, keeping her in suspense.

When the car arrived at the parking lot of the Minghuang Building, Song Xue’er was stunned, exclaiming in disbelief,

"Sir, do you work for the New Minghuang Group?"

"Didn’t expect that, did you? This is my company, the New Minghuang Group."

After getting out of the car, Jack said triumphantly.

"I, I really did not see that coming."

Song Xue’er murmured with a complex expression, thinking about the man she missed, who worked in this very company; it was all too coincidental.

"Let’s go, take a tour around the company, and then you can decide whether or not you want to be my secretary,"

Jack invited her in a very gentlemanly manner.

Although she felt some resistance, Song Xue’er found herself unconsciously heading inside the Minghuang Building; perhaps working with that person might not be such a bad idea.

Jack led Song Xue’er briskly towards the executive offices at the top floor. After exiting the elevator, he said somewhat awkwardly,

"You can wait for me in the chairman’s office, I just need to use the bathroom, and I’ll be right back."

"Okay!"

Song Xue’er nodded, moving hesitantly towards the chairman’s office, wondering anxiously what she would do if she encountered Zhou Jian at this moment.

Upon reaching the chairman’s office, Song Xue’er found the door unlocked and, peering through the crack, saw a shadowy figure rifling sneakily through the desk drawers.

"A thief?"

Song Xue’er looked around, at a loss for what to do, and as she debated whether to call for help, suddenly realized that the person inside searching was Zhou Jian.

"What is he doing?"

Song Xue’er’s eyes widened, watching Zhou Jian in disbelief.

Just then, she heard footsteps behind her, and turning around, she saw Jack approaching.

"Mr. Jack, is this your office?"

Song Xue’er quickly called out loudly, warning Zhou Jian inside to be careful.

"Yes, this is my office; why aren’t you going in?"

Jack asked as he swung his hands, smiling.

"I’m scared." Lin Xue’er glanced at Zhou Jian hastily tidying up and then sitting on the couch, saying timidly.

"There’s nothing to be scared of. Once you agree to be my secretary, this office will be your workplace."

Jack smiled, pushing open the door to the office, only to find Zhou Jian sitting on the couch, reading materials.

"Director Zhou, you’re quite early, aren’t you?" Jack asked, surprised to see Zhou Jian.

"With such a big issue in the company, of course, I had to prepare the meeting materials for you in advance."

Zhou Jian arranged the files neatly, replying respectfully.
