Chapter 432: Chapter 0432: The Mysterious Death
"Everyone, attack together and riddle that guy with bullets!"
Since the fight had begun, Jack gave his kill order without holding back any longer and shouted loudly.
The next moment, the sound of dense gunfire rang out swiftly, while Tang Ming dodged the bullets like a nimble monkey.
Although a solitary gunman posed little threat to Tang Ming, he now dared not charge at Jack because beside Jack stood a Three-star Cross Training Martial Master. If he entangled with him, dodging bullets would become much more difficult.
Liu Mengting and Li Xiaoli watched Tang Ming’s swift movements with tense faces, their hearts in their throats. The scene was extremely nerve-wracking.
If Tang Ming made the slightest mistake, he would inevitably be hit by the bullets. Once injured, his speed would naturally slow down, and the outcome would be easy to imagine.
"Beautiful, so beautiful! I didn’t expect your ’Gun-dodging Dance’ to be such a sight!"
As he watched Tang Ming exhausting himself to evade the bullets, Jack clapped his hands with glee and said sarcastically, "You look like a jumping monkey right now, hopping up and down—I’m truly enjoying this."
Faced with Jack’s taunting, Tang Ming had no time for retorts, his mind filled with anxiety.
The gunmen were positioned high up and at too great a distance; his Poison Skill was useless. Moreover, the bullets were flying so thick and fast that evading them consumed a great deal of energy. If this continued, it wouldn’t be long before his body gave out.
The main problem was the presence of a Three-star Cross Training Martial Master behind those gunmen. This rescue mission looked to be more likely to end in disaster than success.
Just when Tang Ming found himself in a desperate situation, a scream suddenly echoed throughout the canyon.
"What happened?"
Jack looked up, puzzled, toward the direction from which the sound originated—it should be the location of his ambush.
Shi Tou stepped forward in front of Jack, squinting as he said:
"The gunfire from Shisan’s direction has stopped; he must have run into trouble."
No sooner had Shi Tou spoken than another scream came from another direction, followed by the cessation of gunfire!
"Young master, Xiao Ba is dead," someone yelled in panic from above.
"Damn it, you actually brought backup!" Jack glared at Tang Ming furiously.
"I didn’t," Tang Ming responded resolutely while continuing to dodge bullets, his mind bewildered, "I came here fully expecting to die. I didn’t bring any backup at all. Who is helping me from the shadows? What’s going on?"
Jack frowned. Given the current situation had already escalated to combat, if Tang Ming really had backup, there would be no need to deny it. Plus, Jack’s men had been monitoring Tang Ming as he climbed the mountain and had not noticed anyone else following.
From the moment Tang Ming left his starting point, he had been under Jack’s surveillance. But throughout the process, no one else seemed to act alongside Tang Ming. So who was it that killed the Yang Family’s men in ambush?
While Jack pondered this, the hidden gunmen continued to be killed mysteriously!
In a short period of time, several of the dozen gunmen had been taken out.
"Ah, the ghosts of Mount Laojun have come out!" At that moment, Li Xiaoli suddenly cried out in terror:
"The last time we went on an autumn excursion, we encountered the demons and spirits of Mount Laojun. I didn’t expect them to show up again..."
"Shut up. Stop spouting nonsense here—there’s no way ghosts exist in this world."
Jack shivered violently and glared at Li Xiaoli before shouting loudly, "Everyone be careful, there must be someone secretly helping Tang Ming."
"Who? Whoever it is, human or ghost, come out now."
The Yang Family soldiers lay in ambush had not considered the possibility of ghostly interference, but Li Xiaoli’s reminder suddenly made them suspect it could be just that. Otherwise, how could living people die so silently and suddenly?
These soldiers of the Yang Family were desperadoes experienced in battle, long inured to life and death. Yet the current eerie situation was too much for them and was beyond what they could mentally withstand, thus disrupting their formation.
The ambushing gunmen were thrown into disarray, greatly reducing the pressure on Tang Ming’s side. Now, each gunman was looking out for their own safety, preoccupied with defending against the inexplicable events and no longer focusing on attacking Tang Ming.
"What’s happening?"
After steadying himself, Tang Ming looked around in confusion, but the darkness of the night prevented him from understanding what was going on.
The snipers positioned above the canyon were now disordered, ignoring concealment as they stood up to look around vigilantly.
Some of the gunmen even began firing wildly in all directions, terrified that death might be coming for them next.
Two gunmen dressed in camouflage stood back to back atop the canyon, scanning the surroundings with wariness. By covering each other’s backs, they formed a perfect defense. If anyone attacked, they would surely be spotted by the pair.
These two were brothers; one was Yang Wen, and the other was Yang Wu. Using this tactic of fighting back to back, they had survived countless dangers on the battlefield. But today...
No sooner had Yang Wen and Yang Wu stood up than Yang Wen let out a scream of agony and then fell to the ground, limp.
Yang Wu was instantly horrified and shouted,
"Big brother, what’s wrong with you?"
Turning around, Yang Wu discovered Yang Wen had fallen face-down on the ground.
"Damn it, what the hell is going on here? Human or ghost, show yourself!"
After discovering his big brother’s death, Yang Wu became frenzied, revolving on the spot and firing his trigger madly in all directions, indiscriminately spraying bullets that accidentally killed a few unlucky fellow gunmen.
Yang Wu’s descent into madness only added to the chaos among the ambushing gunmen. They had to watch out for the enemy and also be wary of their comrade’s fire, creating utter pandemonium at the scene.
"Not good!"
Tang Ming’s face turned pale with alarm as Yang Wu’s unrestrained shooting made it impossible to control the bullet trajectory, and one bullet was heading straight for Liu Mengting’s position.
With Liu Mengting’s physical condition, there was no way she could dodge the bullet.
Seeing Liu Mengting in danger, Tang Ming gritted his teeth and moved quickly, dashing towards her.
"Shi Tou, take him down."
Seeing Tang Ming rushing over, Jack thought Tang Ming was about to attack him and started shouting in panic.
"Finally, it’s my turn to enter the fray!"
Shi Tou grinned and kept his eyes fixed on the approaching Tang Ming. But Tang Ming didn’t attack Jack at all; instead, he shifted his body sideways and used his back to block the bullet headed for Liu Mengting.
"Tang Ming!"
Seeing Tang Ming actually take a bullet for her, Liu Mengting covered her mouth and cried out in shock.
