Chapter 419: Chapter 0419: Missy in Trouble
Wu Tie gave a slight smile but didn’t continue the conversation because his discipline didn’t allow him to reveal his identity to outsiders.
"I’m going out for some errands, and I’m counting on you to look after the house."
Tang Ming got into the stolen Ferrari and waved his hand, admonishing.
"Don’t worry, as long as I’m standing, no one can harm Miss Liu."
Wu Tie confidently replied.
Because of Wu Tie’s protection, Tang Ming felt very assured about Liu Mengting’s safety. He drove the Ferrari away from Binjiang District quickly, heading to Xia Wei’er’s home.
By the time Tang Ming arrived at Xia Wei’er’s place, her mother had already prepared a lot of delicious foods to treat Tang Ming.
Now, with Tang Ming’s help, not only did Xia Wei’er’s family own a shop, but they would also have a new house after the shanty town was demolished. Their business was booming, and their life was getting better and better, which filled Xia Wei’er’s family with gratitude towards Tang Ming.
Especially Xia Wei’er’s mother, who now, like all the shanty town’s landlords, knew that Tang Ming was Xia Wei’er’s boyfriend, to the extent that Xia Wei’er’s parents already treated Tang Ming like their son-in-law.
Facing such enthusiastic hospitality from Xia Wei’er’s family, Tang Ming felt a bit embarrassed. During the meal, Xia Wei’er also kept her head down, her face slightly flushed with embarrassment because of her parents.
After the meal, Tang Ming actually entered the workshop to start making slimming popsicles, while Xia Wei’er insisted on being Tang Ming’s assistant. The two busied themselves in the cramped space.
Actually, Tang Ming didn’t need Xia Wei’er’s help at all. He was very familiar with the process, and since all the ingredients had been prepared in advance, the making went very smoothly.
Xia Wei’er held a towel, watching Tang Ming work with dedication, feeling very complicated.
When she first met Tang Ming, Xia Wei’er treated him as a suitor with an ulterior motive, one who wanted to attract her attention by helping her out of trouble, but after experiencing so much together, Xia Wei’er realized that Tang Ming was helping her without expecting anything in return.
For such an obliging man who always stood up for her, how could Xia Wei’er not be moved? It should be said that no woman could remain unmoved, right?
"What are you looking at?" Just as Xia Wei’er was lost in tumultuous thoughts, Tang Ming suddenly asked without raising his head:
"Is there something on my face?"
"Ah, no, there isn’t!" Xia Wei’er panicked slightly, quickly using the towel to wipe Tang Ming’s sweat and said, lowering her head:
"You look really good when you’re serious."
"Uh? ’Good looking’ is not usually a word used to describe men, right?"
Tang Ming was slightly taken aback and responded uncertainly.
"Who says men can’t be good looking? You’re very good looking," Xia Wei’er said with her head down, her face blushing as she complimented.
"Alright, if you say so, I won’t argue because I am indeed quite good looking," Tang Ming grinned and continued, casually adding, "With me being this good looking, you’d better not end up falling for me."
Hearing this, Xia Wei’er looked up at Tang Ming, who was busying himself, hesitated for a moment, and then mustered the courage to ask:
"What if I really do fall for you?"
"Heh, if you like me, you like me—what can be done about it?" Tang Ming replied offhandedly, engrossed in making popsicles without paying much attention.
"Would you like me?" Xia Wei’er asked softly, gathering her courage.
"Of course I’d like you! You’re so pure and cute, no man could resist liking you," Tang Ming replied without a second thought, speaking his true feelings. It would be self-deception to say he didn’t like Xia Wei’er at all, although he hadn’t given it much deeper thought.
Upon hearing this, Xia Wei’er’s heartbeat quickened, and she couldn’t contain her excitement: He actually likes me too, is this for real? Is he confessing to me?
"What’s wrong? Why is your face so red?" Tang Ming noticed Xia Wei’er’s flushed face and asked curiously.
"I, I..."
Xia Wei’er hesitated, as if there were words on the tip of her tongue she could not quite speak.
"What’s the matter in the end? Are you sick?"
Tang Ming quickly put down his work and wiped his hands with a towel before reaching toward Xia Wei’er’s forehead.
Just as Tang Ming’s hand was about to touch her forehead, Xia Wei’er suddenly grabbed it, looking resolutely into his eyes:
"Tang Ming, I want to be your real girlfriend, are you willing?"
"Ah?"
Hearing this, Tang Ming was stunned and then he remembered that everything Xia Wei’er had said before was just a prelude; she was serious this time.
"What’s wrong, you don’t want me?"
Xia Wei’er’s complexion turned pale.
"No, it’s not that, it’s just a bit sudden."
Tang Ming said awkwardly and feebly, "Didn’t you say before that you wanted to focus on your studies?"
"I, what I mean is, if you agree, then after I start college, I’ll become your girlfriend."
Xia Wei’er also realized the contradiction in her words and quickly corrected herself.
"Haha, that’s no problem at all. I’m just afraid that by then you might not like me anymore," Tang Ming laughed and said:
"I still have some matters to take care of now; it will take at least half a year. Once I’m done with them, you should be about ready to start college. If you still feel the same way then, we can definitely give it a try."
Tang Ming couldn’t quite figure out Xia Wei’er’s true intentions, as she seemed particularly fickle, so he didn’t take it too seriously, assuming she said it out of gratitude.
"Okay, I won’t ask what you’re going to do, let’s just agree on this." Xia Wei’er smiled, saying resolutely:
"Don’t worry, no matter what happens, I won’t change how I feel."
"Alright, since everyone in the shanty town already treats me as your boyfriend, I should take responsibility for you."
Tang Ming nodded with a smile. After all, when one has many lice, one more doesn’t itch; he was already the pretend boyfriend for many others.
"I..." Xia Wei’er began, a hint of shyness in her voice, but she was interrupted by the ring of Tang Ming’s phone.
"I need to take this call."
Looking apologetically at Xia Wei’er, Tang Ming took out his phone. When he saw it was Liu Mengting calling, he felt a headache coming on, "Hello, young lady, what can I do for you?"
"Tang Ming, save me, someone..."
Liu Mengting’s anxious voice came through, but before she could finish, the call was cut off.
"Hello? Hello? Hello?"
Tang Ming’s face turned ashen, and he hurriedly tried to call back, but the other party had already turned off their phone.
"What happened?"
Seeing Tang Ming’s distressed expression, Xia Wei’er asked nervously.
"Liu Mengting is in trouble; I need to go back."
Tang Ming hurriedly dressed and rushed out.
If the call had been from Li Xiaoli, just a prank, Tang Ming wouldn’t have cared so much, but it was Liu Mengting who made the call. He knew Liu Mengting would never play such a joke with him, so it must be serious.
Earlier, not long after Tang Ming had left the Liu family villa, a black Land Rover Range Rover came crashing aggressively to a halt at the villa’s entrance.
