Chapter 364: Chapter 0364: The Cost of Arrogance

"Sure, as long as you like it, bringing back a Tibetan Mastiff is fine."

Zhou Xianren called out very generously.

"Great, I’ll go buy one now." Wang Zhiling nodded repeatedly, dressed up, and drove out.

"Dad, with such vulgarity, what do you like about her?"

After Wang Zhiling left, Zhou Haotian asked dissatisfiedly.

"I just like her because she’s vulgar!" Zhou Xianren said with a sly smile, reflecting, "She used to be pretty when she was younger, that’s why she caught my interest. It’s just that she’s older now, but after all these years with me, I can’t bear to throw her away."

"It’s just a woman, what’s there to bear?" Zhou Haotian scoffed dismissively.

"You know nothing." Zhou Xianren glanced at Zhou Haotian irritably, shaking his glass and said with a smile:

"Because she loves me enough, over the years she’s helped me hide quite a bit of wealth from the Zhou family. This villa is also registered in her name. Could I trust an ordinary person like that?"

"That makes sense," Zhou Haotian nodded and asked uncertainly:

"So, are we taking her with us when we go abroad?"

"Hmph, why take her?" Zhou Xianren snorted coldly and said indifferently:

"Once your younger brother has settled down, we’ll immediately transfer all our domestic properties there. Then I’ll have her liquidate all the assets in her name, and then..."

"I see, so leave her some money then kick her out, and then Dad, you can get me a young and beautiful stepmom?"

Zhou Haotian suddenly understood.

Zhou Xianren immediately revealed a whimsical smile, then reminded:

"Don’t offend her until everything settles down. Once the old man dies, the enemies of the Zhou family will surely seek revenge. We will need to hide here for a while, many things will need her intervention. And we must also be careful when coming and going, not letting anyone know we are staying here, lest the enemies of the Zhou family come after us."

"I understand." Zhou Haotian nodded again and again, suddenly finding that stepmom not so annoying anymore.

"Let’s go to the bank and transfer the company’s accounts into my account, otherwise when Zhou Xianyi takes over the Zhou family, we won’t be able to transfer the money out."

Zhou Xianren took a sip of his drink and called Zhou Haotian to go out and handle the matter.

Shen Yan sat on a chair placed by the window, observing the Liu family villa and gently petting a Teddy dog sleeping in her lap.

This was the pet dog Shen Yan had while working before. As an assassin, sometimes she felt very lonely, hence she kept a dog.

As this mission to assassinate Tang Ming was dragging on, she had no idea when the task would be complete, hence she brought her dog over.

"Little Good, mommy is in for a long battle; let’s keep an eye on the target across, we’ll find an opportunity." Shen Yan gently stroked the Teddy in her lap.

"Hmm hmm hmm." The groggy Teddy dog grunted, jumped to the floor, and staggered downstairs.

Shen Yan’s dog could roam in and out of the house freely, as Shen Yan didn’t mind because the dog wouldn’t stray too far and could find its way back.

Just then, Zhou Xianren and his son were walking past the courtyard.

"That old woman next door has a man over, just as I thought, a bitch." Shen Yan frowned slightly but didn’t pay much attention.

Late in the evening, while Shen Yan was observing the Liu family villa through a telescope, she suddenly heard a pitiful yelping of a dog.

"Xiao Guai?"

Shen Yan’s face changed dramatically, and she dashed downstairs immediately.

When Shen Yan burst out of the villa, she almost fainted, only to see her beloved dog, covered in blood, crawling in from outside.

"Xiao Guai, what happened to you?" Shen Yan howled in sorrow and rushed over desperately.

"Hahaha, Tyrant did beautifully, absolutely amazing."

Just then, a burst of excited laughter rang out. Wang Zhiling, struggling to hold back a fierce Tibetan Mastiff, stood near the entrance of Shen Yan’s house, thinking triumphantly:

"This time, in a fight with the dog from across, it will definitely kill her dog."

Seeing the fresh blood in the Tibetan Mastiff’s mouth, Shen Yan’s eyes turned red.

"Was it your dog that hurt my Xiao Guai?" Shen Yan stared intensely at Wang Zhiling, her teeth clenched as she asked.

"Your dog wandered the streets. It’s lucky Tyrant didn’t kill it."

Wang Zhiling said proudly.

"Fine, you really have some nerve," Shen Yan said, her tone filled with murderous intent.

"You little tramp, you’re just a kept woman, what could you possibly do to me?"

Wang Zhiling looked at Shen Yan fearlessly and said with satisfaction: "You bullied me before, now that my husband is here, and he’s an Eight-star Martial Artist, killing you would be like playing."

"I’ll kill you first." Shen Yan, holding Xiao Guai, abruptly stood up.

"Woof, awo!"

Just as Shen Yan was about to act, Xiao Guai in her arms let out a painful cry.

"Hold on, baby, mama will treat your wounds first." Seeing this, Shen Yan immediately held her dog and returned to the villa.

"Hahaha, you little tramp, how dare you run, brag to me again, and I’ll have Tyrant kill you."

Seeing Shen Yan run, Wang Zhiling burst into a triumphant laugh, unaware that she had already provoked the Grim Reaper.

Since the Tibetan Mastiff was so fierce, Wang Zhiling chained it in the courtyard after getting home and then entered the villa spiritedly, satisfied that she had taken revenge for the previous bullying by Shen Yan.

Half an hour later, Shen Yan treated her dog’s wounds, placed Xiao Guai, who was now wrapped in bandages, on the sofa to rest, then donned gloves and stealthily entered the neighboring villa with a dagger in hand.

Xiao Guai had been with Shen Yan for many years, their bond deep as if he were her son. Now, seeing him hurt like this, she knew she must avenge him.

Soon after, a grim-faced Shen Yan emerged from Wang Zhiling’s bedroom, pocketed the blood-stained dagger, and looked around.

Seeing all the valuable belongings in the house, Shen Yan grew angrier as she looked, then quickly started moving things from the villa to her house.

The valuables Zhou Xianren had just transferred to the villa were thus moved to Shen Yan’s house by her.

After dark, Zhou Xianren and Zhou Haotian, father and son, staggered home drunk.

After handling banking matters, Zhou Xianren had transferred a large sum of money from the Zhou family to his own account, then the father and son went out to wine and dine until now.

The moment the father and son stepped through the door, they were greeted by the fierce Tibetan Mastiff charging at them, barking furiously; they were frightened, but since they were martial artists, they fought and killed the Tibetan Mastiff.

"This wretched woman, brought home a vicious dog without warning us; it even tried to bite us,"

Zhou Haotian said while treating the wound from the Tibetan Mastiff, angrily cursing.
