My Co-renting Lady Boss
Chapter 145 - 0145: Why Aren’t They Dead Yet?

Chapter 145: Chapter 0145: Why Aren’t They Dead Yet?

Just as the fat man was about to touch the old lady, Tang Ming grabbed him and pulled the fat man back. Then, under the fat man’s astonished gaze, he directly lifted his leg and stepped on the old lady’s body, swaggering past her.

"Brother Ming..."

The fat man was startled and hurriedly called out.

Tang Ming, however, pulled him along, urging, "Hurry up, I’m hungry, let’s go eat."

The fat man was somewhat helplessly dragged away by Tang Ming, fearing that the old lady behind them would catch up and grab them both.

Still unsettled, the fat man asked with some curiosity, "Brother Ming, why did you step on that old lady just now? If she had caught the two of us, we would have been nailed to the pillar of shame, never able to redeem ourselves!"

"Heh, I guarantee she won’t catch us, even less likely to call the police."

Tang Ming chuckled, wrapping an arm around the fat man’s shoulder and saying, "She’s just a scammer, let’s go!"

After the two had left, the old lady on the ground slowly got up. The force of Tang Ming’s feet had been no joke; she almost got trampled to death. Now, she struggled to rise from the ground, rubbing her chest and cursing, "Son of a bitch, daring to step on my chest, I’ll make you pay."

Quickly removing her headgear, the old lady was none other than Shen Yan in disguise. She walked into the restroom, changed her coat, and headed directly towards the food street. She had overheard Tang Ming and the fat man earlier and knew they had gone to the food street, so she quickly followed.

After making a round through the food street and carefully checking each store, Shen Yan finally spotted Tang Ming and the fat man sitting in a beef noodle shop!

Shen Yan quietly walked in, confident that with her disguise refreshed and wearing big sunglasses, Tang Ming certainly wouldn’t recognize her.

The beef noodle shop wasn’t very large, and you had to pay at the cashier first. At that time, only Tang Ming and the fat man were in the shop. Shen Yan approached the cashier, pretending to decide what to order.

In the kitchen, two bowls of beef noodles came out, one of them a larger size. The server placed the two bowls on the cashier counter and then asked Tang Ming and the fat man, "Is the larger bowl also braised beef noodles?"

"Yes, and add extra beef for me," Tang Ming hurriedly responded.

Upon hearing this, the server took the cooked beef from the warming cabinet behind him, ready to add it to the two bowls.

Upon hearing Tang Ming’s voice, Shen Yan knew the larger bowl was his. She discreetly took out a small bottle that looked like a nail polish container from her pocket, opened the cap, and while pretending to look at the menu, she blocked the view from Tang Ming’s side with her body and quickly dropped several drops of poison into the large bowl.

This deadly poison had no strange taste or color, and once consumed, it would slowly poison and kill a person. Its origins were impossible to trace immediately, being a unique murder weapon of the Poison Widow Organization and not found elsewhere in the world.

Taking advantage of the moment the server turned around, Shen Yan put away the small bottle and then smilingly said, "I’ll have a small bowl of plain noodle soup."

After ordering, Shen Yan slowly walked to a table behind Tang Ming and the fat man and sat down. She needed to ensure absolutely nothing went wrong, so she intended to watch Tang Ming eat the poisoned noodles with her own eyes.

After setting down the beef, the server directly brought two bowls of noodles to Tang Ming and the fatty. The steaming noodles paired with the aroma of beef broth and large pieces of braised beef were irresistible, and Tang Ming started to gobble up his food with chopsticks in hand.

Watching the elated Tang Ming, Shen Yan’s lips curled into a smile as she thought to herself, "Eat up and die sooner."

As if aware of Shen Yan’s thoughts, after Tang Ming finished his noodles, he stood up and glanced back at Shen Yan. His eerie smile made her heart beat faster, and she worried, "Could this kid have recognized me and realized what I’ve done?"

But Tang Ming made no further move and directly left the noodle shop with the fatty.

Shen Yan finally breathed a sigh of relief. Tang Ming’s abilities were far superior to hers. If he had discovered her poisoning, he would surely seek her out in a desperate fight before dying, putting her in danger.

Now that Tang Ming had not noticed, she could look forward to watching him succumb to the poison and ventilate her spite.

After quickly finishing her meal, Shen Yan followed behind Tang Ming and the fatty. The two men didn’t linger on the snack street and went straight back to the school.

Shen Yan followed them all the way to the school gates, yet Tang Ming showed no sign of poisoning, which puzzled her greatly as it defied all logic.

Shen Yan was quite familiar with the timeframe for the poison to take effect. Tang Ming should have shown at least some discomfort, but instead, he had no issues and was even joking around happily with the fatty by his side.

"Strange, why are there no signs at all? Could it be that the poison hasn’t taken effect?"

Shen Yan murmured to herself, "It’s very possible that this guy is a Martial Artist, and the Martial Energy inside his body is resisting the poison. But in the end, he’s only delaying his death by a little while. There’s no one this Poison can’t kill."

Having realized this, Shen Yan watched Tang Ming enter the school gates with a cold smile, waiting to see him fall victim to the poison.

But suddenly, her stomach started growling vehemently, drenched in sweat from the pain in an instant. With no time to think further, Shen Yan clutched her stomach and dashed towards the nearby public restroom.

After squatting in the restroom for over an hour, her legs numb, Shen Yan almost fell right onto the toilet seat. Thankfully, her quick reflexes allowed her to grab the handle in time to slowly stand up. As she walked out of the restroom, she was somewhat baffled and complained, "What’s going on? Did I eat something wrong?"

After much thought, Shen Yan couldn’t pinpoint the problem and simply chalked it up to the noodle shop’s lack of hygiene. All she could think about was Tang Ming succumbing to the poison — defeating such a skilled Martial Artist was the most satisfying outcome. To her, the stomach ache was nothing but a minor mishap.

Sitting in the car, Shen Yan waited for an ambulance to take Tang Ming away from the school. After all, even if Tang Ming was a Martial Artist, the ingested poison would take effect and he couldn’t resist for more than an hour or two before dying; there were no other possibilities. To Shen Yan, Tang Ming’s death was certain.

But one hour, two hours, three hours passed, and Shen Yan didn’t see any ambulance arrive at the school.

"What’s going on? Did Tang Ming die somewhere out of sight?"

Shen Yan couldn’t help but wonder to herself.

As if the heavens were playing a joke on Shen Yan, just as she finished her thought, Tang Ming’s figure appeared at the school entrance, accompanied by Liu Mengting and Li Xiaoli, the two campus beauties.

Completely taken aback, Shen Yan’s expression turned to one of shock as she muttered to herself, "How is this possible... how could he not be dead?"
