Chapter 120: Chapter 0120: Business is Booming

The chubby guy listened for a while, scratching his head, unsure of whom to believe.

Wei’er’s mom felt the same way, initially impressed with what Tang Ming had to say, but when she heard the potential consequences from her daughter, she worried that any oversight could lead to disaster and immediately lost her resolve.

Seeing that all three of them were dubious, Tang Ming could only assert determinedly, "You’re going to have to move out if you can’t pay the rent this month anyway, so why not give it a try? Treat it like a dead horse you’re hoping to revive."

"Right, let’s just go with what Tang says."

Wei’er’s mom gritted her teeth and made up her mind firmly.

Xia Wei’er herself didn’t quite believe that Tang Ming could really come up with some weight loss ice pops, nor did she want to try, but seeing her mom’s determined attitude, she could only let Tang Ming give it a shot.

No time like the present, Tang Ming promptly made a list and had the chubby guy go out to buy the ingredients, which mainly consisted of traditional Chinese medicine.

Seeing that the chubby guy was about to go shopping, Wei’er’s mom quickly ran out to stop him and said, "Little Zhou, let Aunty go buy the stuff."

The chubby guy knew Xia Wei’er’s family was essentially broke, but since he had money in his pocket, of course he wanted to support Brother Ming, so he reassured her with laughter, "Aunty, the stuff’s too heavy for you to carry. I’ll go buy it. Once we make money, you can pay me back then. Plus, I really want to be the first one to try these ice pops!"

"Then... thank you so much."

Wei’er’s mom said, touched. She felt that all the people around Tang Ming were goodhearted.

The chubby guy smiled and then headed out to the nearby street to get the supplies. About fifteen minutes later, he returned, carrying a big bag of ingredients.

Taking the ingredients as well as milk, sugar, and spices needed for making the ice pops, Tang Ming went straight into the kitchen. Xia Wei’er was about to follow him in to have a look but was pulled back by her mom who said, "Wei’er, trust Tang Ming. He found a way for your dad’s illness; I’m sure he can make these weight loss ice pops."

"But..."

Xia Wei’er wanted to say more, but seeing her mom’s firm expression, she quit protesting.

After more than half an hour, Tang Ming came out of the kitchen wiping his hands and said to Wei’er’s mom:

"Aunty, I’ve made a batch and put them in the freezer. You can start selling them this afternoon, especially during the after-work rush. Put up a sign promoting weight loss and beauty, that should attract a lot of customers."

"Tang, Aunty really doesn’t know how to thank you."

Wei’er’s mom said with gratitude.

"Aunty, don’t thank me yet, wait until these ice pops really start selling. The chubby guy and I are going back to school now."

After wiping his hands, Tang Ming promptly left the snack bar with the chubby guy.

On their way back to Tianjiao High School, the chubby guy asked curiously, "Bro Ming, do those weight loss ice pops actually work?"

"Of course, do I look like I’m joking? You’re so chubby, you might want to try them for losing weight," Tang Ming teased.

The chubby guy indeed wanted to try one himself, but since they weren’t frozen yet, he’d have to wait until next time.

That afternoon, Wei’er’s mom wrote on the blackboard about the weight loss ice pops and the rejuvenating benefits, then placed it at the entrance of the store.

At the beginning, the passersby were just there for the spectacle, especially with the price of the ice pops, fifty yuan each, which made people hesitant to purchase. It wasn’t until the evening, when a lot of white-collar workers got off work and the snack street really livened up, that people started to try buying the diet ice pops.

But after a busy evening, they had only sold a dozen or so diet ice pops. Wei’er’s mom felt a bit disappointed, but considering it was only the first day, she thought sales might surge soon.

The next day at noon, quite a few people indeed came to buy diet ice pops. When Wei’er’s mom heard these customers say that after eating the pops, they not only lost weight but also woke up with noticeably better skin—more effective than a facial mask—they rushed over to buy some during their lunch break.

What Wei’er’s mom didn’t expect was that the business would be even better in the evening, with over a hundred diet ice pops sold in total.

By the third day, the diet ice pops had become completely famous. Wei’er and her mom were continuously conducting business in the shop, with some people coming in and buying ten or twenty at a time. Luckily, Wei’er’s mom was an experienced businesswoman and limited purchases to a maximum of five per person, ensuring that most customers who came for the famous pops could get them.

However, by eight o’clock in the evening, the diet ice pops were sold out from the freezer. Wei’er’s mom, wiping the sweat from several hours of work, was exhausted, but her heart was filled with joy. She had proved Tang Ming right—the diet ice pops really brought their ice cream store back to life.

Although the diet ice pops were their main attraction, other cold drinks in the store also started showing a significant uptrend in sales.

After calculating the earnings, Wei’er’s mom got quite the shock. Just from selling diet ice pops, they had made over twenty thousand yuan in just three days. The fifty yuan ice pops sold more than four hundred units—that was the business volume they used to see in two or three months! Wei’er’s mom was ecstatic; now she didn’t have to worry about rent or her husband’s illness. With money, everything would get better.

Thinking of this, Wei’er’s mom count the money with tears of excitement flowing.

"Mom, why are you crying when we’re making money?"

Xia Wei’er hurried over when she saw her mom looking upset.

"I’m crying because I’m happy. And you, make sure to thank little Tang. Without him, our family would have been ruined," Wei’er’s mom told her daughter earnestly.

"Oh."

Xia Wei’er nodded. She couldn’t fathom why Tang Ming always had solutions for everything as if nothing in the world could ever stump him.

"Right, Wei’er, go to Tianjiao High School tomorrow and find Tang Ming. We’re out of diet ice pops, so ask him to help us make some more. Otherwise, the customers will be anxious if they can’t buy any," Wei’er’s mom reminded her.

"Oh, I got it," Xia Wei’er acknowledged, feeling a bit hesitant about how to approach Tang Ming the next day.

The next afternoon, Wei’er’s mom was expecting Tang Ming to show up. After turning away several groups of customers asking for diet ice pops, and Tang Ming still nowhere to be seen, she became anxious. Business was just picking up, and without Tang Ming to make more diet ice pops, it might collapse again in a matter of days.

Wei’er’s mom couldn’t go to Tianjiao High School to look for Tang Ming, so she had to wait and ask her daughter later.

In the evening, instead of seeing Tang Ming or her daughter, Wei’er’s mom was visited by the landlord. She was momentarily alarmed but then thought thankfully that they’d earned some money these past few days, just enough to cover a quarter’s rent, so she said with a smile:

"Landlord, I was just thinking about bringing the rent to you."

But the landlord said with a smile and a wave of his hand, "No rush, I know your business is doing well now. Earn some more and just give me the rent whenever you feel more financially comfortable."
