Chapter 729: 735 Strive to Improve Level_1

Lin Xiangwan took the plunge, and the very next day she started looking for a building, printing business cards, and began learning about home decorating.

She had an advantage in studying this subject; Su Yueze had been buying properties for many years and knew quite a few people related to the housing industry.

A designer sister she knew was offering a course in this subject. But her business was not well-known and tuition was high, so there were limited pupils.

Since she was Su Yueze’s friend, this designer sister did not charge her much and diligently taught her some principles of fashionable home decor.

Lin Xiangwan caught on fast and had her own unique insights into fashion and color coordination, so the designer sister was eager to pass on her knowledge.

"For example, this curtain, since the room’s wallpaper is striped, a plain curtain would be a better match. Of course, the stripe pattern adds vitality, and it’s most commonly found in children’s or teenagers’ rooms, so if everything is too plain..."

"Too monotonous!" Lin Xiangwan finished the sentence.

The interior designer was thrilled and delighted to find a kindred spirit. "Yes, that’s exactly what I meant. It would seem too uneventful. So, the inner curtain could have patterns, but the design mustn’t be too intricate!"

Lin Xiangwan took careful notes.

"Come, show me how would you match these curtains and wallpapers." The designer handed over her iPad with various wallpaper patterns and colors and a selection of curtains, and let her choose her combination!

Lin Xiangwan was silent as she examined the patterns and colors of the curtains and wallpapers and started picking combinations.

For the pale blue wallpaper, she chose curtains of the same color range. The drapes had mostly white and dark blue patterns.

For the pink curtains, she also matched them with a pink-themed colour, but with largely white base!

And so on.

The designer nodded approvingly after seeing the choices. "Good job. You quickly grasped the essence of matching. Although your designs are not bold, they are pleasant and won’t irritate anyone!"

Lin Xiangwan smiled slightly. "Thank you, sister, for the compliment!"

"Have you studied art before?" asked the designer.

Lin Xiangwan shook her head. "Nope, I haven’t!"

"But you have an excellent grasp of color. It doesn’t seem like you lack an art foundation!"

"Well, my brother has been studying art since childhood, and I have always watched him mixing colors on his palette and occasionally heard him explaining some principles and techniques of color matching!" Lin Xiangwan confessed awkwardly.

"Oh, I see! Does he work in the art field now?"

Lin Xiangwan shook her head. "No, he said there were limited opportunities in the art world for him, so he abandoned an Art Major in high school!"

"Oh..." The designer flicked the iPad a few times, then glanced at her and asked, "By the way, Lin, can you create 3D models?"

Lin Xiangwan quickly nodded. "Yes, I can do that!"

"That would be a big help. When you work in this field, you can show your clients the 3D models right away, and your business will do better."

While they were speaking, the delivery guy arrived with their lunch.

"Let’s have lunch first, and then we will look at furniture combinations this afternoon!" The designer put down her iPad and encouraged Lin Xiangwan to take a break.

"Sister Qian, isn’t it too simple for us to have pancakes for lunch? Why don’t we go out to eat? I know a place with really good food!" Lin Xiangwan said, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

Sister Qian furrowed her brow. "Why, can’t you stomach this simple fare? Do you think the food isn’t good enough?"

"No, it’s just that I feel bad for treating you to something so simple after teaching me so much!" Lin Xiangwan said, feeling quite apologetic.

"Not at all, I love these! They are heavenly. If I could, I would eat them every day without getting tired of it!" Sister Qian opened her lunch box, and the delicious smell of the pancakes wafted out.

Having no choice, Lin Xiangwan sat down and opened her own lunch box.

As they were eating, Sister Qian spoke up, "I am moving abroad next month. I guess all I will be eating over there is pizza, which tastes awful. I have to take advantage of my time left here and eat as many local delicacies as possible!"

"Sister, are you really going to move out of the country?" Lin Xiangwan asked in surprise.

Sister Qian chuckled. "Yes, otherwise why would I be so willing to hand over all my craft secrets to you? If I were staying in the country, I would definitely hold back!"

"Oh..." Understanding dawned on Lin Xiangwan and she chuckled.

"That day, Su Yueze called me quite late at night insisting that I help you. He said it would be a shame to let my craft disappear! He thought my skills were so remarkable, and he was right. After years of learning, it would be a shame not to utilize them in a relevant field!" Sister Qian said with a chuckle.

Lin Xiangwan was even more embarrassed. "So that’s how it is. Su Yueze told me you were teaching a class! I even wondered why I was the only one studying!"

"Hehe..."

"Sister Qian, can’t you work in this field abroad? I think there’s a lot of potential for development!"

Sister Qian chuckled, "Energy is limited. My husband’s company keeps him quite busy, I want to help him more. So, I had to give up this line of work!"

Then it dawned on Lin Xiangwan, Sister Qian didn’t even need this petty cash. How fortunate was she to come across such a rich and capable woman. She really was full of grandeur.

"The job you’re preparing for is very service-oriented and can be quite challenging. However, you seem to have good communication skills, so it shouldn’t be a problem for you!"

"Hehe..." Lin Xiangwan blushed from the praise. "Of course, I am indeed very good at communicating, because I was an orphan since childhood. If I didn’t know how to speak pleasing words, I wouldn’t have good food and clothing, so..."

Sister Qian was startled. "You are an orphan? You don’t have a mother?"

"Hmm..." Lin Xiangwan nodded. "I’ve been without a mother or father since birth!"

"Did they abandon you?" After asking, Sister Qian found it inappropriate. "I’m sorry. I might have asked something I shouldn’t have, right?"

"No, it’s fine! I guess I was abandoned, but I am not exactly sure when!" Lin Xiangwan smiled and shook her head.
