Chapter 706: Eliminate the risk for children_1

Lin Xiangwan had excellent physical endurance and was back in action by the next morning.

She was sitting at the breakfast table early, the first one to arrive.

Usually, she would stay in bed in the mornings and wouldn’t eat with the others.

Her enthusiasm this morning was quite a surprise... a monumental first, so to speak.

The elders of the Qin Family were taken aback, regarding her with surprise but refraining from commenting.

Seeing her, both the kids rubbed their eyes. "Mommy..."

"Mommy..."

Lin Xiangwan looked at the two children and smiled. "Be good, eat your breakfast!"

"Okay!" Tongtong responded cheerfully.

Ranran, on the other hand, seemed rather serious. What was going on with mom and dad? And now there was this wicked woman, and everyone was nice to her. Would mom still be able to stay here?

Zhou Ziqing took a seat and as soon as she spotted Lin Xiangwan, her face darkened. "You’re feeling better!"

Lin Xiangwan replied indifferently in a way meant to infuriate. "Yes. I may not have anyone’s sympathy, but I’m in good health, so anyone wanting to harm me won’t get a chance!"

"What are you insinuating? No one is trying to harm you!"

Before Zhou Ziqing could respond, Xu Feng’e stepped in, standing up for her.

Lin Xiangwan turned to her with a sweet smile. "Aunt Xu, you’re treating Zhou as your daughter-in-law already, aren’t you?"

Though she wished it were true, it wasn’t set in stone yet, so she couldn’t admit it.

Xu Feng’e feigned anger. "Wanwan, how can you say that? How can I treat Zhou as my daughter-in-law? You’re Qin Muchuan’s wife, if you say that, wouldn’t the kids resent me?"

Ranran and Tongtong glared at her disapprovingly.

If you are aware of that, then why say it?

Lin Xiangwan frowned. "Then why do you always side with Zhou Ziqing as if you’re best friends? What’s going on between you two?"

"I’m not taking anyone’s side!" Xu Feng’e vehemently denied.

The elders of the Qin Family looked at their daughter-in-law—her statement was clearly disingenuous.

Xu Feng’e hastily corrected herself. "Even if I were nice to Zhou, I’m impartial! I believe that Zhou is right, and your ideas need more thought!"

"Oh..." Lin Xiangwan nodded as if understanding. "So, you consider Zhou a friend?"

"Yes!" Xu Feng’e replied.

"Oh..." Lin Xiangwan nodded thoughtfully. "Looks like you two get along very well. You’re practically best friends, right?"

Xu Feng’e looked at Zhou Ziqing, who returned the sentiment.

"Yep, we could be best friends!" Xu Feng’e agreed.

Zhou Ziqing nodded in agreement. "Yes, you could say that!"

Lin Xiangwan looked at them with feigned admiration. "Seems like perhaps Zhou would make a better wife for the Qin Family. Otherwise, why would your relationship be so good?"

"That’s not true!" Ranran chimed in.

Tongtong added, "Anyway, I only have one mom!"

A frown crept onto Zhou Ziqing’s face.

"That’s enough. It’s time for breakfast, let’s stop this conversation!" The grandmother of the Qin Family broke up the verbal spar.

Qin Muchuan, who had just finished a phone call, was the last to come downstairs. As he took his seat, his eyes naturally fell on Lin Xiangwan.

Seeing her acting mischievously, he couldn’t help but frown. What was this girl up to?

Soon, the maids began to bring forth breakfast.

The grandparents had their usual rice porridge and eggs, Xu Feng’e had a sandwich and milk, Qin Gang, indifferent to the choices, simply chose the same.

Then it was Qin Muchuan’s turn.

The maid asked, "Young master, do you want coffee, or lemon water?"

"Coffee!" Qin Muchuan replied.

A cup of black coffee was placed next to him.

The maid asked next, "And the main course? Would you like pasta, scallion pancakes, sandwich, or toast?"

"A slice of toast, with two fried eggs."

His request was quickly served.

Lin Xiangwan assumed that it was now her turn to answer. Going by the order, logically she should be next.

However, the maid, with a fawning smile, turned to Zhou Ziqing. "Miss Zhou, what would you like for breakfast?"

"I..." Zhou Ziqing pondered. "I’ll have what Qin Muchuan is having."

"Ok..." The maid promptly served Zhou Ziqing’s request.

Subsequently ignoring Lin Xiangwan’s share, the maid turned to the little master and missy!

Tongtong and Ranran spoke in unison. "You forgot about my mom. Are you losing your mind, and you can’t keep up with your work anymore?"

"Er..." The maid, now taken aback, rapidly apologized, "I’m sorry, young mistress. I didn’t mean to. It’s just that you rarely come down for breakfast, so I overlooked you today..."

Amused, Lin Xiangwan spoke with understanding. "Yes, that’s right. I am now nearly nonexistent in the Qin Family. Ah, no, that’s not entirely correct—I soon won’t have a place here at all. Therefore, it makes complete sense that you can’t see me. No worries, it doesn’t trouble me in the slightest!"

The maid feigned regret and finally brought Lin Xiangwan’s breakfast.

Lin Xiangwan glanced at it. "I don’t like sandwiches!"

The maid frowned, uncomfortable. "But the only other available dishes are the eggs and pancakes which the kids are eating. We don’t have anything else!"

Lin Xiangwan nodded in understanding. "Oh, so I get the food that no one else wants to eat?"

"I’m sorry, we didn’t prepare adequately. We’ll make sure we have more for tomorrow!" the maid promised.

Lin Xiangwan glanced at the sandwich, took a small bite and said casually, "Don’t worry. After all, grandmother only charges me a thousand for my monthly food and housing costs. It’s quite cheap. Besides, no matter how terrible the breakfast here is, it’s still delicious. I’d say it’s quite a bargain. There’s no need to accommodate my preferences; I wouldn’t want to inconvenience you!"

She spoke without a care, without a hint of seriousness, focusing on her meal.

The grandparents’ faces turned sour. It was an embarrassing moment, especially under their grandson’s scrutinous gaze.

The grandmother fumbled for words. "Aren’t you two getting a divorce? Besides, we all eat and drink here every day. Your grandfather and I just have a small pension..."

Qin Muchuan reacted calmly, nodding. "Grandmom’s right, I overlooked that. I will give you four thousand yuan later."

Four thousand yuan?

Both Lin Xiangwan and Zhou Ziqing turned to look at him.

How did he arrive at four thousand yuan?

Qin Muchuan took a sip of his coffee. "Since Wanwan and I are still married, that makes four members of the family. So it should be a thousand yuan per person."

Zhou Ziqing’s face turned pale. "Chuanchuan, what about me? And Duoduo?"

Qin Muchuan cast a look at her. "What about you?"

Zhou Ziqing stated matter-of-factly, "If you’re going by that logic, shouldn’t I be included as well?"
