Chapter 504: 510, President Qin, it’s hard to witness such a tragic scene_1
Zhou Ziqing asked happily, not even considering the possibility that Qin Muchuan might hate her.
Because he really seemed to care about her the previous day, quietly sticking with her the whole time—even when Lin Xiangwan was around.
What did this mean?
It meant that he still cared about her, about her feelings!
This fact boosted her confidence a lot.
So even though he didn’t seem happy at the moment, she still felt joyful.
Qin Muchuan let his true feelings show, gritting his teeth as he asked, "You know that I find you annoying, so why are you still calling me?"
Zhou Ziqing took his dislike as a form of fiddling around, joking on purpose, "I just wanted to call you, I wanted to call you... even if you find me annoying!"
"Then you’re certainly no ordinary wretch!" Qin Muchuan said with his eyes closed, venting his long-held grievances.
"Wretch?" Zhou Ziqing asked out loud, choosing to accept the label. "Well, I am quite the wretch. How else could I be shamelessly entangling myself with you when I know you’re married?"
"Exactly!"
Zhou Ziqing stated boldly. "It’s because I like you, and you like me too. It motivates me even more!"
Qin Muchuan kept his eyes firmly shut the whole time, his ears becoming uncannily sensitive as if he were blind.
He heard her admit to being not just any wretch, but a dirty one, leaving him absolutely speechless.
"Qin Muchuan, I want to see you. How about we have lunch together?" Since he was feeling responsive to her now, it was best to strike while the iron was hot. Once they in bed, and she became pregnant with Qin Muchuan’s child, she did not believe Qin Muchuan would refuse to marry her if she played hard to get.
No matter what, she was better than Lin Xiangwan, right?
That woman had no parents and was nothing more than an orphan. She hadn’t even had an overseas experience. By any measure, she should be far superior to that woman, right?
And she was confident that the child she bore would be far better than any child Lin Xiangwan could produce.
"No!" Qin Muchuan flatly refused.
"Why not?" Zhou Ziqing was stunned.
"There’s no ’why not.’ I’m super busy with work in the next few days. I won’t have time to see you. Let’s leave it at that." Qin Muchuan said it all in one breath, then abruptly hung up the phone, blocking Zhou Ziqing’s number on his phone at the same time.
Lin Xiangwan, standing outside the bedroom door, finally felt somewhat reassured.
Only after waiting another two minutes did she turn the doorknob and enter.
When she came in, Qin Muchuan opened his eyes. "If you were already at the door, why didn’t you come in sooner?"
Lin Xiangwan paused for a moment, then caught on. "Oh, you already knew I was at the door, so you turned down Zhou Ziqing, didn’t you?"
"Of course not!" Qin Muchuan slightly raised his upper body, leaning against the head of the bed. "If I knew that you were at the door a long time ago, or that you heard me answer the phone, I wouldn’t have asked you that question just now."
She was satisfied with his reasoning. "I’ll just grab some stuff and take the kid to school. You don’t have to get up."
"Okay."
"Do you want breakfast? I can bring it up to you."
Qin Muchuan shook his head. "Let me sleep a little more. I don’t think my body can digest any food."
He felt as if his entire body was on strike.
Lin Xiangwan looked at him. "You should recover as soon as possible. How else can you keep working?"
Qin Muchuan laughed. "You still want me to keep working? You’re really not afraid of me being exhausted!"
Lin Xiangwan’s cheeks turned red as she stammered, "I meant... your job, your actual job."
"I reckon my job is quite serious!"
"You..." Lin Xiangwan was so anxious she didn’t know what to say. "Are you going to stay at home all day?"
"Mmm."
Qin Muchuan nodded. "I really can’t go to the office today."
He was tired, very tired indeed.
But he wasn’t so tired that he couldn’t get out of bed. He was not that useless.
However, he knew that if he went out today, she wouldn’t be happy, and she would definitely follow him.
It was better for him to just stay at home all day and give her peace of mind.
"Alright, if you want anything to eat, just call me and I’ll bring it home." With that said, she picked up her handbag and prepared to leave.
"Where are you going after dropping off the kid?" Qin Muchuan asked.
"Beauty treatments, getting my nails done, shopping..." Lin Xiangwan listed a bunch of things.
"Want me to come with you?" Since her activities were so varied, he thought she’d be happier if he joined her.
Lin Xiangwan stared at him dubiously. "I thought you were too tired to move?"
"You can drive, I can sit in the car, and then you can feed me. Everything else is okay!" Qin Muchuan said.
"Alright. But you haven’t washed your face or cleaned up yet. So, I’ll drop off the kid first, then come back." Lin Xiangwan decided.
"OK!"
Having made his decision, Qin Muchuan got out of bed.
When Lin Xiangwan left, she didn’t close the door completely, leaving a tiny crack. Qin Muchuan’s grandmother, who was worried about her grandson, walked in at this moment. "Chuanchuan!"
"Grandma, what can I do for you?" Qin Muchuan asked flusteredly as he grabbed a towel to wrap around his waist, making quite an awkward scene.
"What happened to you? Why aren’t you going to work today?" The old woman asked worriedly.
Qin Muchuan picked up a robe from the side to put on.
His grandmother’s keen eyes fell on the red marks on his chest and the scratches on his back.
"Cough, cough..." The old woman coughed deliberately a few times in a serious tone.
Qin Muchuan looked at his grandmother. "What is it?"
The old woman walked up to him, lifted her chin, and stared at her grandson’s face. She tapped the floor with her cane, sounding both worried and annoyed. "Look at you, looking so exhausted. Did you fool around all night again last night?"
Even Qin Muchuan, a grown man, felt a little embarrassed by such a blunt question from his grandmother. His face turned slightly red, and he evaded her gaze. "Grandma, what are you talking about? I’m just worn out from work these past few days!"
"Exhausted from work? Don’t try to fool me! I won’t believe it!"
"You could ask my assistant if you don’t believe me!"
But his grandmother insisted. "It’s that girl, isn’t it? She’s been seducing you all the time, right?"
"Grandma..."
"Don’t try to protect her all the time. You look so pale, with hollows under your eyes—these all are signs of indulging in desires. Did you think you could deceive me?"
Right, she was a woman of great age, she had tasted more salt than he had ever walked on, so how could he fool her?
"I’m telling you, from tonight, don’t sleep with that girl. Have a good rest for a few days. I’ll have someone make up some nourishing food for you." The old woman ordered sternly.
Upon hearing this, Qin Muchaun immediately frowned. "Grandma, really?"
