Chapter 466: 471 Many Rules of the Aristocracy_1

Lin Xiangwan wasn’t upset from Grandma’s words. If anything, she was almost tickled into laughter.

She seemed to have understood Grandma’s worries: that she, the bad girl, would usurp Qin Muchuan, right?

She could understand that. She’d feel the same way if someday, Ranran gravitated towards another little girl instead of her own mother. It was an unnerving and somber thought.

Seems women are indeed jealous creatures. It didn’t matter the cue: grandson, lover...whatever it was, they were game for a bit of jealousy.

"Yes, Grandmother. I’ll be careful from now on." Lin Xiangwan replied, hoping to placate the elder woman.

"Hmm.., you should really be careful," Grandma insisted a reminder.

"Sure!"

"And when you’re out, don’t always be pulling and tugging Muchuan!" Grandma added.

This unjustly accusation made Lin Xiangwan feel utterly innocent and unwilling accept. "Grandmother, these days, it’s basic social etiquette for a woman to hang onto a man’s arm. Especially when Qin Muchuan attends certain events, he usually needs a female companion. If not a wife, then a secretary!"

Grandma Qin eyed her displeasingly, her piercing triangular eyes narrowing into a strict gaze. "Social etiquette? Events? You think I haven’t been around?"

"Of course not. I know you’re a big shot, Grandma. You were a renowned Iron Lady back in the 80s before the internet came into existence. I often read about you in the newspapers. You’re way ahead of other elders this century. Nowadays, only some tycoons have begun dealing with foreigners while you started over thirty years ago. How could Qin Muchuan be so smart and business-savvy, if not for your excellent genes?" Lin Xiangwan charmingly conjured a long list of Grandma’s astounding achievements.

Grandma Qin couldn’t help but relish in the praises, reminiscing about her successful past. "Well, no matter what, I’m old now."

Lin Xiangwan quickly chimed in. "Not at all, Grandma. Your thinking isn’t far from us younger folks, fast and sharp. Anyone chatting with you can feel your acuteness. If you were truly old, how could you still have such energy?"

"You child, you’re really good at flattery!" Grandma couldn’t help but feel a little smug.

"It’s not flattery. Grandmother, you are genuinely my idol. My role model!" Lin Xiangwan sincerely said.

Indeed, her words were heartfelt. How many elder women could manage to protect their son’s business from being seized by a hoard of relatives and wait for the grandson to take over?

Grandma was beaming, but her gaze at Lin Xiangwan was still cold. "Don’t think that a few flattering words could loosen my expectations on you. You are still not allowed to be too clingy with my grandson, you understand?"

Lin Xiangwan slowed down the car, glanced at Grandma in the back seat, and asked softly, "Grandma, have you found any girl who is good enough for your grandson yet?"

"Not yet," Grandma Qin replied.

"Until a better girl appears, wouldn’t I be the most suitable person to be your granddaughter-in-law?" Lin Xiangwan asked in an even lower voice.

"Well, it’s so-so!" Grandma begrudgingly admitted. "Anyhow, you did your part, giving me two grandsons!"

Lin Xiangwan nodded. "I know, I’m respected because of my sons."

"Good that you understand!"

"Therefore, Grandma, to protect Tongtong and Ranran, we mustn’t let Qin Muchuan be seduced away by other women, right? Otherwise, the two kids they will end up calling another woman mother and I, their biological mother, will be forced out!" Lin Xiangwan added.

"..." At the image of this scenario, Grandma Qin felt a pit of despair and sadness for her little grandsons. "Are you really so incompetent that you would let Qin Muchuan be snatched away by another woman?"

Lin Xiangwan looked wronged. "I have no choice, Grandma. You don’t allow me to be attached to Qin Muchuan. You need to understand, these girls nowadays are so realistic. They throw themselves at rich men without considering if the man is already married. Qin Muchuan’s wealth and charm make him a prime target. If I don’t stick to him, surely someone else will¡"

At these words, Grandma Qin was even more furious. "These shameless young devils nowadays, don’t they have any decency left? Even if someone is married, they still throw themselves at him?"

"Yes, indeed!" Xiangwan blinked dejectedly. "Grandma, if Qin Muchuan ever really marries another woman, promise to protect both children for me!"

"No!" pruned Grandma Qin, letting out an angry growl. "Let me tell you, Xiangwan, you must manage to charm my grandson. You can’t let him be seduced by those devils. Otherwise, my poor little grandsons will suffer!"

Lin Xiangwan inwardly cheered, but kept the suffering look on her face: "You’re preventing me from clinging to him. You won’t let me even hold his hand when we’re out, how am I supposed to latch onto him?"

Grandma Qin contemplated. "Alright then, I grant you my permission. You are free to cling unto him, even when you’re out, you can hold his hand."

"Maybe not, wouldn’t that make me appear frivolous?" Lin Xiangwan shook her head in disapproval.

On hearing this, it was Grandma Qin’s turn to confront her. "You child, are you doing this on purpose to frustrate me?"

"No, of course not. I’m only heeding your advice, Grandma!" Lin Xiangwan quickly corrected.

Grandma Qin took a deep breath. "Well, if you’re following my advice, then do as I say!"

Lin Xiangwan nodded. "Yes, I shall listen carefully to your teachings, Grandma!"

"Hmph!" Grandma Qin snorted.

Shortly, they arrived at the bustling downtown. "Grandma, what would you like for lunch?"

"I don’t know," Grandma Qin seemed at a loss. She usually ate at five-star restaurants where the food looked great but tasted terrible.

"What do you like to eat then?" Lin Xiangwan probed further.

"Nothing that I particularly like!" Grandma dismissively said.

"Ah!" Scanning surroundings, Lin Xiangwan suggested. "Grandma, let’s slum it today. Shall we try some commoner’s food?"

Grandma Qin was hesitant. "What do you mean by commoner’s food? Is it delicious? Is it hygienic?"

"Grandma, I have always been eating commoner’s food, and even worse when I was younger. Look at me, haven’t I grown up well?" Lin Xiangwan flexed her arm, striking a muscle
