In disbelief, Lin Xiangwan questioned, "You fed the ribs, the ones which I searched the whole Market to find and then spent two hours stewing over low heat, to a dog?"

"Yep, yep, the dog really loved it, even gobbled it down one after another!" Lin Haoran spoke with increasing delight, seemingly very satisfied.

Lin Xiangwan’s heart hurt; it felt as if the dog was not only eating the ribs, but her sorrowful heart as well. "Did you really use my ribs to appease a dog?"

Lin Haoran nodded, still grinning contentedly, albeit a little embarrassed. "Mum, yes, and now the dog really likes me, it’s stopped barking!"

"You idiot!" she roared, flinging the basin aside and grabbing him, ready to punish him.

Only then did Haoran realise his mother was angry. He looked panic-stricken at his father. "Mum, don’t hit me, Dad, save me, Sister, close your eyes and don’t watch me!"

Qin Yutong’s eyes were wide open, she smirked. "I get to see you get hit? Such a good opportunity, how could I close my eyes."

Feeling both aggrieved and embarrassed, Lin Haoran shielded himself. "Sis, you’re so annoying!"

Feeling entirely at ease, Qin Yutong responded, "Do you think you’ll get a chance? I’m not like you; I won’t make such a basic mistake."
