Chapter 422: 427 Ugly Daughter-in-Law Always Wants to Meet Parents-in-Law 3_1
Lin Xiangwan responded with a smile. "Indeed, I really like how you cut my hair!"
"Hehe..." The man grinned. "However, not many people like me, and there aren’t many who let me cut their hair. Having said that, whoever does let me cut their hair surely has a lot of money. Wealthy women, in particular!"
"Ah? Is that so?" Lin Xiangwan was uncertain as she stared at him.
"I charge 1,298 for a haircut. That’s usually hard for ordinary people to afford!" The hairdresser said, struggling to suppress a laugh. "It seems that you’re even wealthier than I imagined. Over a thousand means nothing to you, leaves no impression at all!"
After hearing the price, Lin Xiangwan was speechless. "How much for a haircut?"
The hairdresser thought nothing of it because this lady had been a customer before. "1,298 is the same price as before. There’s been no price increase!"
Lin Xiangwan felt a bit dizzy and would love to sneak out of there.
Last time, she was on a mission to max out Qin Muchuan’s card, so she simply bought, did, and ate whatever she fancied without checking the prices.
Who knew a simple haircut here could be so expensive? It was absolutely beyond her acceptance.
Could she turn around and walk away now?
It probably wouldn’t be cool since the shop owner woke up so early for her only to walk out. Wouldn’t he curse her to death?
The desire for Lin Xiangwan to escape dwindled, and then she tried to negotiate with the boss. "Are there any discounts today? Although I called you out at such an early hour and it’s quite unkind of me, I’ve heard from other women that there are always discounts here!"
The salon boss chuckled. "Of course, there’s always a discount. Be assured, ma’am. After the haircut, if you decide to continue with hair perming or coloring, there will be a 12% discount."
Cough, Lin Xiangwan has been in the service industry before and knew exactly what upselling meant. Without a doubt, perming or coloring wouldn’t be cheap.
"What about just a haircut? You see, I am a regular client, there should be some discount, right?" Lin Xiangwan commented laughingly.
The handsome talk owner’s attitude remained positive, a constant smile on his handsome face. "Of course, we always appreciate our regular customers. If you recharge 100,000 in our shop at once, then you’ll get a 30% discount on every haircut, making it 908 each time. In addition, we’ll provide you with four treatments worth 5,888 each. That’s more than 23,500 in total. Plus, we’ll give you two 400ml bottles of original French shampoo that sells for over 1,300 a bottle in the mall, along with a bottle of conditioner. We’ll also give you 30 free head washes and massages, plus free perming and coloring twice. Any further perming or coloring will be 30% off. It’s quite a deal! You’ll save a lot, won’t you?"
Lin Xiangwan had been initially feeling somewhat guilty for the way the handsome hairdresser was smiling with such grace and charm. After hearing this, she didn’t feel a shred of guilt anymore.
No wonder he was being all smooth and charming. He was just trying to swindle her!
Pfft, as if she cared about the few measly gifts. What original French shampoo? Probably some cheap refill from a small factory, right?
Did he take her for a fool?
Such a rip-off!
"Look, I don’t want any of the gifts you offer. Can you give me a discount instead? 900 for a haircut. How about it?" Lin Xiangwan asked, grinning.
Damn, 900. She was trembling as she said it, totally unwilling.
A maximum of 500 would be reasonable.
900?
How much pork, celery and how many dumplings could you get with that much?
That’s probably enough for making dumplings for a whole year’s feast, right?
"I’m afraid I can’t, ma’am. I’ve never cut hair for anyone at that price before! I’ve always charged 1,298!" The man smiled, his voice gentle and his demeanor relaxing.
No signs of annoyance, or a hint of scorn or disdain could be detected.
Just by observing this man’s approach toward his craft, Lin Xiangwan could tell that he was destined to rake in the bucks.
Despite some requests from customers that might be annoying and even somewhat demanding, he always respected them. That was indeed rare.
"Is there really no way for a discount? To be honest, last time it was my friend who paid for my services, so I didn’t know how much a hairstyle would cost. Now I don’t have that much cash on me, nor do I have a credit card. 900 is all I have!" Lin Xiangwan took a deep breath, preparing to swallow her pride. "If 900 is agreeable, then I’ll have my hair done here. If not, I’ll have to seek another place."
The boss chuckled. "Are you prepared to walk away?"
Lin Xiangwan responded with embarrassment, "If possible, I wouldn’t want to leave. After all, I believe your skills are extraordinary. However, 1,298 is beyond my budget! Most importantly, I can’t afford to accept it!"
"Then follow me to wash your hair!" The boss still held his charming smile and spoke in the same steady, unrushed tone.
"So you’re agreeing?" Lin Xiangwan had some regrets, thinking that if she had known he would compromise this easily, she should have offered 500 to try her luck.
Perhaps he was just kidding, and she had quoted her maximum price unnecessarily?
Lin Xiangwan’s mind was in conflict, grappling with various emotions - unhappiness, anger, and more.
"Come on, let’s wash your hair!" The boss continued with his line.
Lin Xiangwan thought about it; there was no such thing as a pill for regret.
Once spoken, words couldn’t be taken back. So, let it be. She would regard this as a lesson learned.
Then she followed the boss into a partition area, laid in the chair, closed her eyes and waited for her hair to be washed.
The boss’s fingers were very slender and diligent as they worked their way through her hair, applying just the right amount of pressure. She felt totally relaxed and comfortable under his nimble movements.
"Your boss is quite diligent indeed, taking care of the shampooing thing himself!" Lin Xiangwan closed her eyes and joked.
"Haha, because it’s still before work hours, there are no helpers around. Washing hair is a fairly basic task for me. It’s not troublesome at all!" Responded the boss with utmost courtesy.
This man didn’t talk much and was definitely not the slick talker type, for which Lin Xiangwan was grateful.
"I can see you have a good character, at least as far as business is concerned. I believe if someone else had been in your place, they wouldn’t have opened the store this early, nor would they have maintained such a gentle attitude when I was haggling with them. Let alone personally washing my hair." Lin Xiangwan praised him heartily.
