Lin Xiangwan was getting ready to confront Qin Muchuan at Huatai, rebuking him for his ruthless behavior of not paying people’s wages!

Just as Hu Sen’s Land Rover pulled up in front of the Huatai office building, she saw Zhou Ziqing walk out of the office building, accompanied by Qin Muchuan’s assistant!

Sitting in the car, Lin Xiangwan’s face instantly turned sullen. Why was Zhou Ziqing here? This couldn’t be a coincidence. She couldn’t possibly be here for work, could she?

"So what do you plan on doing now - get out of the car or stay?" Hu Sen queried.

"I’m getting out!"

In no time, Lin Xiangwan was out of the car.

"Ziqing, what brings you here?" Lin Xiangwan initiated the conversation.

Zhou Ziqing saw Lin Xiangwan and smiled. "Mm, I came here for some business."

When the assistant saw Lin Xiangwan, he quickly came over to greet her. "Ma’am!"

Lin Xiangwan feigned ignorance and responded with a smile. "I’m here to see my husband. Ziqing, you get back to your work. I’m heading up!"

"Sure, see you!" Zhou Ziqing waved goodbye.

Lin Xiangwan didn’t linger further.

Qin Muchuan was surprised by Lin Xiangwan’s visit, especially since Zhou Ziqing had just left. Even he was feeling nervous, his heart inexplicably pounding.

"You didn’t have to come, but I’m glad you did!" Qin Muchuan got up and greeted her warmly.

Lin Xiangwan had no intention of being friendly, she was all business. "I am here to talk about serious matters. Why didn’t you pay the laborers? How could you stoop so low?"

Qin Muchuan was confused. "I’ve never failed to pay anyone’s wages!"

"Believe whatever you want!" Qin Muchuan did not want to argue.

Lin Xiangwan took a deep breath, inhaling the air in the office, and then asked with sudden laughter, "The scent of perfume is so strong in here. Has there been a woman here before?"

Qin Muchuan’s heart indeed skipped a beat; he was genuinely scared that his infidelity had been discovered by his wife.

Thankfully, he was good at handling such situations. "You can’t possibly assume that my company only hires male employees right, or that our female employees don’t use perfume?"

"Of course not, I was just making casual conversation!" Lin Xiangwan shrugged it off. "Really I just came to tell you to pay the workers their due wages as soon as possible. Otherwise, they will harbor resentment against you, curse your children, and even —your wife!"

Upon hearing this, Qin Muchuan’s brow furrowed. "Who said that?"

"The laborers did. If it didn’t involve me and our children, I wouldn’t be wasting my time discussing this with you!"

He nodded. "Okay, I will do my own investigating!"

"Do it soon, I’m leaving now!" Having said what she came to say, she was quick to leave.

Qin Muchuan grabbed her arm. "Since you’re here, why not stay a little longer? We could pick up the kids together this evening!"

Lin Xiangwan’s heart sank. If this were the day before yesterday, she would have been delighted. But considering that he had betrayed her, clinging onto a façade of affection for her now just made her feel... disgusted. "No, I’m quite busy today and will be picking up the kids tomorrow. You can pick them up today!"

Qin Muchuan paused for a moment. "You don’t have a girlfriend?"

"Yes!" The assistant replied, looking quite distressed. "I’m always busy with work, and I don’t finish until 8 PM at the earliest, so I have no time for a girlfriend!"

A smile crept onto Qin Muchuan’s face. "Are you complaining that I’m withholding your free time?"

"No, of course not, I love working, it’s great!" The assistant clarified hurriedly.

"Mmhmm...

Seeing his boss in such a worried state, the assistant quickly added, "Sir, I could ask our married female colleagues how their husbands please them!"

"Mmhmm!" Qin Muchuan blinked.

True to his word, the assistant promptly set off for his investigation!

Two hours later, he had compiled the results.
