She tactfully stated, worried that if she said she was here to see the CEO, she might be kicked out.

"You’re here for our CEO’s secretary?"

"Yes!" Lin Xiangwan bluffed. "I’m here to deliver lunch..."

The receptionist thought for a moment. "Then you may go up!"

"Which floor is the secretary on?"

"Twenty-second floor!"

"Looking for our CEO? But you don’t have an appointment!"

Pushing his office door open, she wondered what she might come across.

The assistant laughed. "Appointment with the secretary?"

"Right... You look more like a tabloid journalist snooping around here. Now get out!" The assistant had gone from welcoming to hostile in seconds.

"I did make an appointment. If you don’t believe me, you can ask your CEO!"

"You are full of lies, miss. Why should I ask? I am our CEO’s assistant and secretary. If you had an appointment with me, why am I not aware of it?" The assistant pointed to his nose.

"I’m your CEO’s wife..." Lin Xiangwan had no choice but to reveal her identity.

"Our CEO’s wife..." The assistant repeated, examining her suspiciously.

Just then, Qin Muchuan heard the commotion and came out of his office. "What’s going on?"

Hearing familiar voice, Lin Xiangwan immediately turned to look. "Qin Muchuan, it’s me!"

Seeing Lin Xiangwan, Qin Muchuan was surprised but also smiled pleasantly. Though he feigned ignorance, "And you are?"

"You..." Lin Xiangwan was flabbergasted. He was pretending not to recognize her.

The assistant was all the more convinced that she was an impostor. "Miss, please leave."

Lin Xiangwan stood in silence, shooting Qin Muchuan a reproachful look.

Qin Muchuan’s expression became even more pleased, a grin playing at the corner of his mouth. "Didn’t even bother to call before coming?"

"Yeah, to carry out a surprise inspection, see if your office has any secrets!" Lin Xiangwan retorted sharply.

"And what were the inspection results?" Qin Muchuan asked again.

"I haven’t inspected yet, how would I know!"

"Well, come in then!" Qin Muchuan moved to the side to let her in.

Seeing the situation unfold, the assistant finally understood. "I apologize. I didn’t recognize you as the CEO’s wife. I’m sorry!"

Lin Xiangwan waved her hand dismissively. "It’s not your fault!"

She then turned to glare at Qin Muchuan and walked towards him.

Qin Muchuan stood at the door, waiting for her to approach.

She reached the entrance but didn’t go in. Instead, she handed him the lunch box she was carrying. "Butler Liu said you didn’t eat breakfast. Given your poor rest last night, I thought I should bring lunch. I didn’t want to intrude. Once you’re done, just remember to return the box. I’ll leave now!"

She had only taken two steps when he stopped her. "Seeing as you’re here, why don’t you join me for lunch?"

"Can I?" She asked, hopeful yet apprehensive.

"Always time for a meal!"

"Okay then!"

This was the first time Lin Xiangwan entered his spacious office. The decor was modern American, simple and efficient, but the furnishings were both austere and intensely luxurious.

Qin Muchuan sat down on the sofa and hurriedly opened the lunch box. He must’ve been very hungry because he began eating heartily!

"I made it. It’s much improved, right?" Lin Xiangwan asked unabashedly.

"Hmm, has the same taste as Butler Liu made. Very good!" Qin Muchuan didn’t refute her.

Lin Xiangwan scrunched her nose, closed her eyes. "You don’t believe it’s me who made it!"

"Okay, then continue making it tomorrow!"

"Continue? Do you really take me for a housewife? Nope, I need to go job hunting, I need to work!"

Qin Muchuan looked up. "What’s the need for that?"

"What do you mean ’what’s the need’? I need to go to work. As soon as I walked in here, I felt a strong desire to apply for a job!" Lin Xiangwan said, full of longing.
