Chapter 162: 162 Battle for Child8_1

"Mom wasn’t bothered by him!" Lin Xiangwan chuckled to reassure her sensible daughter. "Plus, mom can afford to stay a few nights in a five-star hotel, it’s no big deal!"

"With that money, we could have bought a decent car!" Tongtong muttered quietly.

"We’ll also buy a car, and a good one at that!" Lin Xiangwan too yearned for a luxury car.

Now that the children had a wealthy father to rely on, she didn’t need to save every penny, right? Even if something were to happen to her, the children would still have their father to look after them.

Finally, she could buy whatever she wanted, without so many worries!

Honestly, she felt much relieved all the sudden.

Despite the appearance of the kids’ father brought certain worries to her!

"I wonder how mom will bring Ranran back!" Lin Xiangwan thought of her son again.

Nesting in her mom’s arm, Tongtong whispered, "I think it won’t be so easy to get Ranran back, dad might become more cautious."

In fact, she didn’t really want Ranran to escape either. Having Ranran around would give mom and dad more chances to meet and more things to worry about, right?

Lin Xiangwan was deep in thought. The formidable power of Qin Muchuan entailed her struggle to snatch back one of her children today, so what about the future when he might want to take her children away again?

She couldn’t leave her children. No matter what, she had to be with them!

...............

Having the trump card always feels great. Qin Muchuan called her first thing in the morning to arrange a meeting.

Lin Xiangwan wanted to resolve the issue as soon as possible, so she didn’t purposely hassle him. Instead, they agreed to meet at a coffee shop.

This time, Qin Muchuan arrived quite early. By the time Lin Xiangwan got there, he’d almost finished his coffee.

The morning sun filtered through the glass window and onto Qin Muchuan, casting a dazzling aura around him. The warmth of the spring sun in B City, unlike the sweltering heat in Jiangcheng, seemed to soften his appearance somewhat.

Softened?

When the word ’softened’ popped in Lin Xiangwan’s head, she immediately discarded it. How could this ruthless, inhumane man, akin to a beast, be anywhere near ’soft’?!

"You can’t fight with me for Ranran’s custody, and I won’t fight with you for Tongtong!" Lin Xiangwan declared as soon as she sat down.

"Are you certain the kids would be better off with you? Aren’t you afraid that Ranran would be abused by your future husband?" Qin Muchuan calmly retorted.

"He won’t have a step-father!" Lin Xiangwan asserted.

Qin Muchuan refused to believe. "You can assure me that you’ll never marry?"

"...Yes!" Lin Xiangwan uttered one word.

"Heh..." he sneered with contempt. "Are you kidding? Can you really endure a lonely life? Let’s be honest with each other. Marriage and childbearing is commonplace for young people like us! After you get married, can you not have children with your husband? If you do have two children later, how are you going to balance your love?"

"..." Lin Xiangwan fell silent. He made some sense. "And what about you? How would you balance your love later?"

Qin Muchuan raised an eyebrow slightly, oozing a sense of superiority. "I already have a son and a daughter, and I don’t want more children!"

"Would your future wife agree to that?"

"I don’t need anyone’s agreement. I can set out the condition of not wanting more children before getting married!"

"I also..."Lin Xiangwan began.

Qin Muchuan squinted his eyes. "Do you think you’re capable of that? Then you have to find a man whose qualifications are not as good as yours and can forcefully claim not to have children."

"..." Exactly, she might not have that qualification. "Then... then can you ensure that your future wife will treat the kids well? Even if you don’t let her have any children, wouldn’t she vent her anger on the kids?"

Qin Muchuan flinched. This was indeed possible, and it was something he had also been concerned about. "Of course, I can also stay single!"

Lin Xiangwan retorted. "Do you think you can stay single forever? Don’t you have physical needs? I don’t believe it. Let’s not kid ourselves, shall we?"

"Heh..." Qin Muchuan chuckled. "Indeed, I do have physical needs, but marital relations aren’t my sole source of relief!"

Regardless of whether or not he were to marry, his physiological channels for relief wouldn’t affect his normal life.

Upon understanding his insinuation, Lin Xiangwan felt even more uncomfortable.

Such a shameless man!

"However, raising kids in a single parent household can have serious effects on their character development!" Lin Xiangwan insisted.

"But I’ll give the kids a better education. I’ve said before, if the kids follow me, I would send them abroad which wouldn’t entail such trouble!" Qin Muchuan didn’t think this was an issue and was very laid-back about it.

This, however, incited Lin Xiangwan. Losing her cool, she fumed, "Qin Muchuan, I really don’t understand. Why would you rather send the kids abroad, instead of letting them stay with me, their mother? Don’t you think you’re being too cruel?"

Qin Muchuan smirked sarcastically, he cocked an eyebrow. "What do you want me to do then? You’re afraid that the woman I marry later will abuse the children, and when I say I won’t marry, you argue the kids can’t grow up in a single-parent family. What do you want me to do? Marry you instead?"

He mocked the very idea as something impossible.

Yet his casual glance unexpectedly met a pair of serious, clear, and resolute eyes.

Although Qin Muchuan had already shifted his gaze, he couldn’t help but look back at Lin Xiangwan’s face, studying her carefully.

Lin Xiangwan lifted her chin, facing his gaze confidently.

Qin Muchuan’s gaze became confused. He asked in a low voice, "You really want to marry me?"

Lin Xiangwan took a sip of her coffee, smiled lightly, and said, "Yes!"

"What a joke!" Qin Muchuan voiced his undisguised disdain for her.

Lin Xiangwan looked at him in all seriousness, unfazed by his scorn. She took her time to say, "I, Lin Xiangwan, am unmarried, the biological mother of two children, graduated from B University’s Finance Department with excellent grades, now earning an annual income of half a million after tax. I don’t see any reason why I’m unworthy of you, even though you’re a CEO. But if you were in my shoes, being an orphan without any relative or aid, you might not even do as well as I am now? This is of course beside the point; the point is that even though I may not be good enough for you, you have to marry me regardless!"

Although puzzled by her seemingly absurd statement, Qin Muchuan was drawn to her inexplicable confidence. "Tell me why I must marry you?"
