Chapter 1498: Chapter 1496: Rules and Points
『The initial test settlement is complete.
Congratulations, gang assassin from Philadelphia! You have officially earned the opportunity to continue surviving and playing.
Next, the basic rules and the uses of "Ladybug Points" will be explained. Please listen carefully.
Only the selected "assassins" can come here and participate in this survival game called [Ladybug Day].
And only the most exceptional assassins who are willing to unleash their true nature have a chance to survive continuously and win a brand-new life.
We solemnly promise that as long as you meet the final clearance conditions in the game, you may choose to leave and gain a new life, or stay here and endlessly explore this city.
The key to the game lies in "Ladybug Points."
[Ways to obtain points are as follows]:
1. Basic method: Each time an individual enters a game site and achieves the corresponding clearance conditions, they can earn [Activated Ladybug Quantity × Scenario Base Score] in points.
2. Slaughter method: In areas where slaughter is permitted, defeating other assassins will yield 30% of their carried points and one random piece of their equipment.
Note: Under normal circumstances, killing other assassin players will accumulate "Slaughter Value," and as this value increases, the individual will receive corresponding negative statuses (Specific scenarios or conditions such as Justifiable Defense will not increase Slaughter Value).
Slaughter Level[1]: Points obtained through all methods are reduced by 30%.
Slaughter Level[2]: Individual information will be automatically disclosed, including point holdings, equipment holdings, and related ability stats.
Slaughter Level[3]: The individual’s location will be automatically disseminated to other assassins within a one-kilometer radius. Upon being killed, all Ladybug Points and equipment will drop, and the killer will not accumulate Slaughter Value.
Slaughter Level[4]: The individual will be hunted by the "Ladybug Assassin," and contact will instantly result in death.
3. Trading method: Individuals can trade items with the store or other assassins in exchange for corresponding Ladybug Points.
4. Working method: Individuals can apply for jobs at sites they’ve unlocked and earn corresponding Ladybug Points upon meeting the conditions.
5. Extra method: The organizers will occasionally host mysterious events within the city. Participating can yield extra "Ladybug Points," "items," or "privilege" rewards.
Announcements will be broadcast citywide before events are held. Decide whether to participate based on your abilities.
[Uses of Ladybug Points are as follows]:
1. Ladybug Points are the key to continuing in the game. We will never support those without skill.
Every other day, one Ladybug Point will automatically be deducted from all participants. When points reach zero, individuals will be hunted by the "Ladybug Assassin."
2. Individuals can visit Ladybug Stores to make purchases, exchange various items, or unlock restrictions.
Note: Shops marked with a Ladybug symbol on the streets are stores. Inside these shops, all forms of combat are prohibited. Violating this rule will result in point deductions or severe punishment depending on the severity.
The above is the disclosed game content for now. Other rules and details should be explored within [Ladybug Day] itself. Showcase your assassin talents to the fullest!』
Han Dong, leaving through the corpse transportation corridor, immediately hid in the shadows of the street, quietly listening to the system’s explanation.
"Assassins, of course~"
Han Dong recalled the newspaper placed on the bedside table when he woke up in the hospital.
It mentioned a certain gang club massacre, with 73 people implicated, and the suspect vanished despite being severely injured.
Now it seems the suspect featured in the newspaper is Han Dong’s new persona in [Unknown Fate]—a special chosen assassin.
"A real game tailored for assassins, huh? So everyone’s persona here is that of assassins.
Who would have thought [Unknown Fate] would turn out to be a game-like mode like this? Surprisingly fitting for me. That "Lucky Dice" wasn’t a waste after all."
Speaking of games, Han Dong, who had deep interactions with the clown Pennywise, is quite skilled. As he grasped the basic rules, a faint, eerie smile appeared on his face simultaneously.
"So "Ladybug Points" are essentially the core of this game.
The points seem to be capable of removing some restrictions placed on us?
I wonder if it’s possible to unlock levels or ability restrictions... Chances are our levels are locked, because if I were to regain my previous level, this game wouldn’t even stand a chance at sustaining itself.
If some sealed abilities could be unlocked, it would still be beneficial even if levels remain restrained.
For example, the Demon Eye, disguise, Brain prison, or Bloodhound—any of these abilities, once unlocked, would make things significantly easier for me.
However, the immediate priority is to locate my teammates... especially Green."
As Han Dong thought about this, he quickly moved into action.
With the primary goal of searching for Ladybug Stores, he began exploring the unknown city, attempting to purchase information on his teammates using points.
The city before him was entirely different from the "illusion" he saw while in the hospital.
The bustling streets were gone, replaced by an eerie and empty Dead City.
After 30 minutes of stealthy movement, Han Dong collected some basic, useful information.
This Dead City resembles the capital of a superpower, with electricity and water systems functioning normally, and food stored in supermarkets still well within their expiration dates, freely available for use.
Various buildings, parks, or certain special locations might serve as [Game Zones].
There are always noticeable signs near areas related to the game, indicating one of three statuses—"In Game," "Waiting for Entry," or "Temporarily Closed."
Han Dong also spotted some oddly dressed assassins near a "Waiting for Entry" building.
It took him a full two hours of searching.
Finally, deep within a factory, Han Dong saw the glowing sign of a Ladybug Shop.
"Ladybug Store... Finally found one! Seems store density is really low, and their locations rather hidden.
But it makes sense. The store’s designation as a safe zone naturally needs to be limited to enhance the thrill of the game.
One must be extremely cautious here.
The safe zone only applies to the store interiors, and some assassins are likely to camp outside stores intentionally... After all, anyone heading to a store for transactions will undoubtedly carry a certain amount of Ladybug Points."
Han Dong first circled the exterior of the factory.
Locating a suitable position, he quickly scaled the wall and climbed into the factory’s second-floor storage room.
Confirming that he wasn’t being observed, he then quietly prepared to sneak to the store location on the first floor to ensure his own safety.
As Han Dong opened the storage room’s iron door, the sounds of combat from the factory’s interior reached his ears... Just as Han Dong suspected, there were indeed assassins lying in wait.
"Perfect... This way, the risk for me decreases."
As Han Dong prepared to head to the Ladybug Store on the first floor, his gaze swept toward the combat zone, suddenly recognizing a familiar figure.
In an instant, veins bulged on his forehead.
The thought of visiting the shop vanished instantly as he rushed toward the combat zone with his fastest speed.
