Chapter 1489: Chapter 1487: The Path of Myth
The dossier brought by Handsome Jack contained nearly all the information Han Dong wanted, except for the ’Treasure Map’... After all, Han Dong didn’t want to reveal the treasure map to this business partner.
Apart from introducing matters related to the Unknown Fate, the document heavily emphasized one key point.
The "Mythic Path" corresponding to the Fate System.
This pertained to Han Dong’s current phase, and the document clearly explained the detailed process from the Opening Phase to the Myth Stage.
[Fate System]
This is an upgrade system uniquely created by the Black Tower, integrating the strengths of upgrade systems from countless worlds.
By using a game-like format of numerical and attribute-based representation, the entire progression process is simplified.
Whether it’s the 5 Fate Points required for the Seed Period, or the five major pathways—The Crusaders, Library, Control, Machinery, and Mysticism, corresponding to the Holy City.
As well as the Talent Points ([5]) needed for Breaking the Breed to form the tree, which can be allocated to different talent directions for the individual.
(Talents derive from personalized abilities developed during the Crack Period, such as Han Dong’s "Faceless Myth," "Dark Magic," and "Mad Laugh Journey."
Ordinary knights from the Holy City typically develop two traits, while Han Dong has more and higher-quality options due to his Dual Cultivation specialization.)
What looks like a game-like point allocation and self-selection is, in reality, an optimization measure of the "Fate System."
It compresses and stores the growth experiences individuals gain in Fate Events in the form of "Experience Value," releasing it all at once when settling accounts.
Compared to conventional cultivation, it is easier to grasp, more intuitive with self-selection, and more rewarding.
Similarly.
When the Talent Tree is established and the individual reaches the "Open-door Level."
The Fate System continues to provide an optimized progression plan, presenting the "Mythic Path" in a numerical format.
By continually venturing into [Unknown Fate] and meeting clearing conditions, one can steadily advance toward Myth.
Moreover, the numerical value required to progress from "Opening" to "Myth" is considerably less... For Han Dong, the value needed is [3].
However, this [3] does not refer to three points, but rather [three puzzle pieces].
When experiencing the highly challenging [Unknown Fate],
The System will provide detailed scores based on the type of events completed, the individual’s insights and gains within the Fate Event, and the primary abilities displayed.
The results of this scoring will be revealed during settlement, mainly divided into two major outcomes:
"Qualified Score":
The individual will receive a complete Mythical Puzzle piece, with the type of puzzle piece corresponding to the current Fate experience (For example, if the "Mad Laugh" ability played a crucial role in this event, a "Mad Laugh" Mythical Puzzle piece will be obtained.)
"Unqualified Score":
The individual will receive ’puzzle fragments,’ which will need to be supplemented with more fragments in subsequent Unknown Fate experiences after a cooldown period (one year).
Additionally.
For "Qualified" outcomes, the individual can also receive Mythical Puzzle pieces of different qualities based on their specific experiences, divided into four tiers:
[Common], [Rare], [Epic], and [Legend]
(The higher the difficulty of the Unknown Fate, the higher the completion rate, and the higher the intervention rate of the individual in the world, the higher the quality of the puzzle piece obtained upon settlement.
If the individual is dissatisfied with the quality, they can choose to discard the puzzle piece and obtain a new one in the next Fate Event.
Note: Puzzle pieces cannot be accumulated, no matter how many low-quality puzzle pieces there are. They cannot be combined into a higher-quality piece. Once discarded, one must start over.)
Once a Mythical Puzzle is installed, it cannot be discarded, and the individual will gain a corresponding ability trait.
Example:
Han Dong clears an Unknown Fate, achieves a qualified score, and receives an "Epic" quality puzzle piece of "Faceless Myth."
Once this puzzle piece is equipped, he will gain an Epic-quality trait of the Faceless type (such as Gatekeeper, Tendrils of the Dark Abyss, etc.)
When Han Dong assembles a total of three puzzle pieces—"Faceless Myth," "Dark Magic," and "Mad Laugh Journey," he will be able to perform the crucial [Myth Construction].
Advancing to the Mythic Body stage.
The above constitutes the "Mythic Path" of the Fate System.
Since the individual has witnessed Truth,
aside from obtaining Mythical Puzzles through Fate Events, they can also refine corresponding fragments through daily insights and cultivation, or lay a foundation for them.
For instance, during his time at Mi University, Han Dong learned Dark Magic under the Vice Principal, slowly building the corresponding Mythical Puzzle.
...
"Mythical Fragments, huh... I possess three talents, so I need three fragments to complete them.
For ordinary knights, one or two fragments are usually sufficient.
However, across the entirety of the Holy City, there are hundreds of Elite Knights who’ve reached the Opening Level, yet those who’ve advanced to the Mythic Body can be counted on one hand.
This shows that even obtaining just one Mythical Fragment is incredibly difficult, let alone constructing a Myth—it’s no easy feat."
After fifty hours of high-intensity Yttrium gold production, although there had been adequate nutritional replenishment, his mental state was significantly drained.
"Mr. Jack, I’m going to sleep here for a while."
"Feel free to rest, my personal nurse will take care of you throughout."
Due to the threat from the Fight Club, Han Dong wasn’t concerned about Jack attempting anything behind his back. He set a ten-hour alarm and fell asleep immediately.
Indeed.
While intently watching the sleeping Han Dong, several rather malicious schemes surfaced in Handsome Jack’s mind, but he ultimately dismissed them entirely.
"Rest well, Mr. Han... Just make sure you don’t die in the upcoming [Unknown Fate]."
[Event Countdown: 8 hours remaining]
Leaving the hidden alleyway, Han Dong immediately headed to the nearest trading post.
Facing a highly challenging Unknown Fate, leading a team akin to a ’Suicide Squad,’ preparation beforehand was essential... This was also why Han Dong had spent fifty precious hours helping Handsome Jack.
Potions were a must-have, so Han Dong first purchased the maximum allowable amount of high-grade potions.
Equipment wasn’t necessary.
Apart from the high cost of fully crafted gear, Han Dong’s current equipment was already sufficient, and as an Element Body, he naturally didn’t lack equipment.
During his subsequent exploration at the trading post, Han Dong discovered something interesting but expensive.
This item belonged to [Black Tower Exclusive Sales], meaning it was an exclusive product sold by the Black Tower itself.
"Lucky Dice."
Price: Fixed at 2000 points per piece.
Privileges: Only available to Formal Employees or above, with a purchase limit of one per year.
Usage: When an individual enters a Fate Event, the Lucky Dice can be consumed simultaneously. Depending on the dice roll, it significantly increases the likelihood of entering a world that aligns well with the individual’s attributes.
The initial state of the event and the individual’s starting identity in the world may also improve (This item is only applicable to random events and does not apply to Black Tower-assigned special tasks.)
"What a great item... just a bit pricey!"
Gritting his teeth, Han Dong decided to buy it anyway. With the trade routes provided by Jack, future point accumulation wouldn’t be an issue.
"Almost done. Time to set off.
As for Togu and the others, I’ll arrange events for them after the [Unknown Fate] ends... They’re excellent helpers, especially with the brain upgrades granting them enhancements as well."
With all preparations complete, Han Dong headed straight to the Black Tower Office.
