Chapter 1388: Chapter 1386: Coming
[Blood]
This liquid is the source that sustains the co-growth of life across thousands of worlds.
In the myriad of worlds associated with the Black Tower, even with different world backgrounds, divine guidance, or developmental directions of lifeforms, there will always be individuals interested in the [Blood] flowing within them.
Most worlds will inevitably derive a branch related to [Blood] in their course of development.
As in the Demon World, there are the Blood Descendants represented by the Middle Position Old King (CH.F.), or in the world currently associated with the Count, the corresponding Nether Blood System.
However.
The [Blood] possessed by the Scarlet Knights - Shaia Cornwall is intimately related to her own being rather than entirely from the world system.
Shaia is referred to as "the heart of the Knight Regiment," overseeing the hospital system of the whole Holy City, ensuring that over 70% of the knights maintain their physical integrity, survive, or remain without sequelae.
The top knights of the Holy City, when planning to embark on a mythic-level Journey of Fate, often try to involve Shaia.
As for Shaia’s true heritage, even many of the regiment leaders are unaware.
As the daughter of a duke, born in an apocalyptic era, she did not inherit many superior genes, but instead, she contracted a very rare immunodeficiency disease.
Most importantly.
This congenital defect results in a conspicuous outward manifestation.
The first time Shaia suckled her mother’s milk, she displayed a bloodthirsty trait, actually drawing a small amount of blood from her mother... It was later discovered that she could obtain temporary immune recovery by drinking blood.
Her desire for blood grew with age, and she needed the arterial blood of living people.
If such a trait were exposed, it would surely be deemed heretical by the Church, and even the duke’s status could be affected.
Therefore, the duke often bought slaves from the commoner’s district to serve as ’snacks’ for Shaia.
However, Shaia was inherently kind-hearted. Although she couldn’t suppress her bloodthirsty desires, she would try her best to interrupt feeding to save the lives of her servants.
Shaia also asked her father to provide fine nourishments for these poor servants, granting them a sum of money and freedom to return to a normal life in the commoner’s district once their anemic condition was restored.
The duke outwardly agreed to his daughter’s requests, but secretly executed the servants.
The population capacity of the Holy City was one issue, but most importantly, the duke had to cut off any possible channels that could leak the secret. This matter had to be well hidden.
And all of this changed in the year Shaia turned twelve.
Unable to contain her overpowering desire, Shaia’s bite caused the servant to nearly faint.
Filled with guilt, Shaia secretly slipped out of the room, lurking in the shadows to see if the servant would survive.
Instead, she stumbled upon a terrifying scene.
The servant didn’t receive any medical treatment, but was thrown into a bottomless cellar.
Below lay the familiar faces she knew, all servants she had met in the past month, stacked as corpses in the cellar, waiting for uniform disposal.
Learning the awful truth.
The guilt in her heart instantly transformed into a burden of sin as heavy as mountains.
Shaia fled the duke’s mansion overnight, descending the Holy City stairs signifying the difference in social status, running towards the lowest commoner’s district.
Unsure how to atone for her sins, she just ran aimlessly.
At that moment.
She accidentally glimpsed the "Chosen Ones" assembling in the squares of the commoner’s district, recalling a story she had inadvertently overheard about fate and knights.
The twelve-year-old Shaia blended into the crowd in the square, participating in the initial test of fate.
What she didn’t realize was that her physique had long surpassed that of ordinary humans, due to years of consuming fresh blood to supplement her immunity and various precious ingredients from the Fate Space provided by the duke to alter her constitution.
Hence, with Shaia’s participation, the difficulty level of the events encountered by the team was raised to four and a half stars.
This became the opportunity for Shaia to gain control over [Fresh Blood] much earlier, and also to find the answer in her heart on how to obtain redemption.
Due to personal and family reasons, she never entered the Knight Academy for systematic education, but sneaked into the Clock Tower every year to participate in a test of fate... The "Clockmaker" not only did not stop this ineligible young lady but warmly received her each time, secretly erasing any trace of her visiting the Bell Tower.
Like this, Shaia grew quietly in the shadows.
In the year she turned twenty-three.
A rather serious Demon invasion broke out in the Holy City, reaching the middle-level district where the nobles resided. Coincidentally, Shaia was purchasing medical equipment and medical-related books in the affected district that day.
By the time the Knight Regiment arrived.
Dozens of corpses contaminated by Blood Brew were all dead, piling up to form a small mount.
As for the Mature Body that caused the [Corpses of Blood] incident, a Demon completely possessed a resident, held in the hand by a young girl.
The Nether Blood from within the Demon, like threads, flowed into the body of the girl.
A month later, Shaia was invited to join the Scarlet Knights, directly becoming an Elite knight.
Two years later, the Scarlet Knights held a change-of-guard ceremony.
Shaia Cornwall became the new leader, who was also the youngest in history... The reason was not only because Shaia’s strength met the standards but also because of her special nature in the Fate Space.
Her innate deficiency brought Blood Descendant traits, which accidentally connected her to a world overflowing with fresh blood. More importantly, a [Right to the Throne] was set aside for her there.
Using the leader’s authority, Shaia took control of all private medical units within the Holy City, creating [St. Defiel Central Hospital]
Branches were established in all regions of the Holy City, including the commoner’s zone, providing nearly free medical care to critically ill patients without discrimination.
...
"Field Expansion - Blood Moon"
A crescent moon dripping blood suspended in the sky, covering the area that included Beheading King and Father Lysos.
A team strengthening field, the Priest bathed in the blood moon felt his health points skyrocketing, with regeneration speed about tripled from before.
In severe injury cases, blood arms will emerge in the moonlight bath area to perform ultra-fast surgery on individuals.
However, the main amplification came from Shaia, the prime subject.
"The aching Skull Head, the untamable beast causing havoc.
Bewilderment, crimson, madness, howling – all cease in the eternal slumber at this moment.
The endless blood sea, the ultimate forbidden Blood Prison in silent, tranquil sleep! Grow! Devour! Spread to the Land of the High Mountain, sealing the fate of all life!"
"Prince’s Blood Curse.Ⅷ - Blood Hell Coffin Sealing"
Priest quickly left the vicinity of Beheading King.
A coffin-like crimson structure resembling the Iron Maiden rose from the ground, nearly a hundred meters tall, and instantly sealed the Beheading King within...
At the same time.
The ’Blood Moon’ shattered completely like a living entity; the pouring fresh blood anointed the surface of the coffin, completing the strongest Blood Curse that Shaia could cast at present.
"So powerful!" Priest was astonished by the blood coffin before his eyes.
Whoosh!
A slash on a mythical level, transcending understanding, expanded horizontally.
The blood coffin was split open by a massive gash.
The Beheading King, entwined and rooted by countless blood vessels, was peering at Shaia not far away through the crack, using her Heart-eye.
"As a lower human enslaved by demons, reaching this level, you must be the strongest among these humans..."
As she spoke,
The ’throne’ adorned with seven Famous Knives rose slowly from beneath the feet of Beheading King.
While breaking free from the crimson bonds, Beheading King drew out one of her knives designed for executing flesh and quickly cut off the blood filaments attached to her body, forcefully busting through the sealed coffin with her own strength.
The self-repair of the blood coffin, coupled with the constant supply of Blood Energy from Shaia herself, still could not match the destructive power of Beheading King.
Five minutes later.
The hundred-meter-tall blood coffin completely collapsed, even dyeing the surrounding five miles of desert red.
"To be able to touch the King’s sealed spells, truly impressive... If I had not been confined in the Magnetic Field Secret Room before, you might have trapped me for a longer time... Pity though, your current level is still not enough to threaten me.
Your blood is laden with heavy sins; I am going to cleave your body and take your soul to the Abyss of Sin."
With just one step, the Beheading King was already before Shaia.
The ’Flowing Light Orthodox Sect’ hovered above her head.
Yet, at such a critical moment, Shaia showed a relaxed face.
While raising her hand to stop Father Lysos, who wanted to help, she said in a laid-back tone:
"I never thought I could defeat or threaten you.
My early departure from the hospital was only to cooperate with the demons, trying to buy as much time as possible.
Moreover, you’re wrong about one thing.
I’m not the strongest among humans... Compared to those ’monsters’ who dare to risk their lives, I can’t even rank in the top ten among the leaders.
I’m just a healer, not a warrior."
Sniff sniff~ At that moment, Shaia intentionally sniffed the air.
"They’re here..."
As she finished speaking,
A string of shadows suddenly flashed by the two of them.
In that instant, it forced the Beheading King to withdraw her attack and enter a defensive stance.
There was a feeling of crisis as if the Death Scythe was held against one’s throat when the Night passed by... But this sense dissipated as the shadow vanished into the distance.
"Something very dangerous just passed by... What was that?"
The Beheading King quickly surveyed with her Heart-eye.
She saw a Skeleton Warhorse, oozing with the aura of death, carrying a mysterious figure in a black robe, racing towards London City at full speed, utterly disregarding the situation here.
Just as Beheading King felt puzzled,
The surrounding air suddenly turned dry and scorching.
When she turned her head towards the source of the aura, the world had completely changed.
The extraterrestrial desert, previously composed of metallic sand, transformed into a black, cracked wasteland,
The space sky, previously visible for five days, now shrouded by layers of red clouds and black mist – the sky of Hell,
Clop clop clop~ clop clop clop!
The abnormally heavy sound of hoofs resonated with the earth, as though a grand demon army was about to arrive on the burnt terrain.
However,
Upon looking, only one figure could be seen.
An Ashen Crown clearly visible overhead,
Eye pupils burning with Hellfire that could annihilate souls,
A Demon Armor that had merged fully with the body, hungry for the souls of the mighty,
And the chest bearing the mark of a ’Skull Head with Demon Horns’, signifying the highly offensive Hell Knight Corps that forever charges at the forefront of the army of the Holy City.
