Chapter 1057: Chapter 156 London Games Chapter 1057: Chapter 156 London Games Corner of the universe.
The surface of a lifeless planet.
On the barren land swept by a superstorm stood a low building that theoretically should not exist, completely unaffected by its surroundings.
Viewed from different perspectives, this building would appear in different forms.
Perhaps as a castle, perhaps as a filthy blood pool, perhaps as the belly of a living creature, or perhaps as a concave surface of starlight.
For now, as perceived by a “human” brain structure:
The building corresponded to a bar in the American West.
Bursts of merry sounds were continuously emanating from inside, seemingly involved in some kind of game.
The hall was furnished with only a large wooden round table,
where eleven ‘guests’ sat around, with great differences in makeup, behavior, and features, seeming of the same species yet vastly differing.
Let’s briefly describe some of their forms (all viewed from the human perspective):
Sitting at the northeast corner of the round table, one person had one foot in a boot overflowing with seawater and the other barefoot on the ground.
Dressed similarly to a pirate captain, with damp long hair draped over his shoulders.
With wrinkles that seemed perennially soaked in the deep sea, his eyes glittered with a mesmerizing stardust, as if leading to the “Dreamlands,” both imaginary and real.
Whatever this person did, it was always a beat slower than everyone else around him.
Another was dressed in a refined English waistcoat, his entire skin presenting as grey, exuding nobility with every gesture.
When viewed from different directions, parts of his facial features would always seem missing (the mouth not visible from the upper side, the left eye from the right, the nose from the lower side).
The other ‘guests’ too had their distinctive features, making them easy to distinguish.
The large round table was directly facing the bar’s “First Seat,” where sat a man in a crisp suit, also the person in charge of the building, the bartender to human eyes, and the leader who had sent urgent messages to gather some guests here.
The bartender had a peculiar square face, with deep eyes that resembled the most distant clusters of galaxies.
This group of ‘people’ gathered together for a meeting themed around a gambling game.
Each guest held at least five chips marked with corresponding emblems.
On the surface of the table, a perfect scale model of London City was displayed.
The details of the city wall, buildings, streets, and even the Thames River were precisely replicated, even displaying some giant life forms embedded within the city walls.
In the center of the round table, through a stable movable stand, supported the “Second Table Surface.”
The second table surface held the Parallel World – London City, created using the King Level Land Deed, to secretly develop the Whirlpool Cult’s independent space.
It showed the states of the two cities, like a derivative chessboard game.
Beyond the buildings,
there was a series of tangible ‘individual models’, symbolizing the Demons belonging to different Old Kings trying to infiltrate London City, mostly Ancestor Bodies, placed in various areas of the round table.
Some models were still on the main board’s outskirts of London City, symbolizing that they had not yet entered the city, hesitating in the Dark Forest or in the basin area outside the city, or active in villages.
Some models had already entered the city but had not yet found a way to infiltrate the parallel space.
And very few models, already positioned in the Parallel World… This included models symbolizing the Fourth Element – Sally, the Terrifying Hunter – Camper, the Spotted Toad – Maritzis, and Han Dong.
The meeting was divided into two parts.
[1] London Gambling:
Hosted by the bartender, integrating cosmic parameters to designate reasonable odds for the different models (Demons).
Guests could use the chips (corresponding to land deeds) to bet on the models.
[2] A formal meeting focused on the Fate Space:
After a certain Demon won the “Unnamed Divine nature” associated with the Vortex miracle, the game would end. The events of fate that occurred in London City would then be discussed, touching on the rules.
Of course, this group was more inclined toward the first item of the meeting.
It had been a long time since they all gathered to play together.
Moreover, this gamble involved several beings capable of leaving their names on the Ancestor’s Stele. The event itself also entailed divine forces from other worlds and extraneous substances that could threaten the nature of Demons.
The reason why,
the Old Kings tried not to interfere with the overall events occurring in London City as much as possible,
lay in,
their desire to maintain more “variables.”
The more variables, the more interesting the game appears, and their betting becomes more entertaining.
…
The game began.
A middle-aged man whose body exuded a mist and whose face was as solemn as a Corpse placed his bet first.
With a wave of his hand, a mist capable of obscuring light and inducing everything to fall into depravity spread out… This mass of mist seemed to be the Unnamed Fog that enveloped the surface of Earth, ushering the world into the Epoch of Eternal Night.
“Let’s make this game thrilling–I go all-in!
Just betting on one individual nurtured by the Boss, whose performance in the last Element competition was too dazzling.
Among these little guys, probably only he can directly and alone confront someone with a Mythic Body.
The lad, though he carries the Boss’s Madness Bloodline, possesses an unconventional calmness and is still waiting outside the Giant City Wall for the right moment.
I guess when the right time comes, he will choose to attack strongly, accelerating the pace of the entire game, making it more interesting.”
The chips marked with the Mist icon, all pushed toward a model next to the long, curly-haired, twisted-posed figure.
As this person mentioned, the model was still outside the city wall, waiting for some moment… emitting an aura that drives one to madness.
Although the odds were only 1:1.4.
Still, many guests chose to bet some, or even all, of their chips on this model.
Soon, it was a ‘lady’s’ turn.
A seductively sexy black dress,
underneath the hem seemed to hide a forest at rest with a corrupted flock of sheep, her hair cascading like branches and vines over her shoulders,
her stunningly beautiful face marked with a hoofprint of a goat.
Even though the lady was like a vessel of ‘temptation,’ the guests present had no inclination, or should say, dared not to entertain any related thoughts.
“Nine chips on Sally… and one on this little guy.”
The chips symbolizing high-level land deeds, tossed nonchalantly.
Nine hoof-marked chips fell next to the Sally model that bore a goat’s hoof, displaying an odds of [1:2.7].
And the last chip fell on a model next to Sally.
Just a common model without any Ancestor’s Body marking, the odds given by the bartender being [1:19].
As this chip landed on the common model, the bartender revealed a rare smile.
Following this,
it was the turn of the old man dressed as a captain, with sea water continuously overflowing from his boots.
Without speaking, he evenly split the chips marked with the Octopus, half to one of his formidable subordinates, and half to the common model previously chosen by the lady.
While everyone was amazed, thinking the old man had too many land deeds and wanted to give some away for nothing,
the grey man in a little vest, with a wave of his hand, pushed all the chips marked with the Faceless head to the common model, even displaying a pleased smile and whistling cheerfully.
The first bettor, the Mist Man, looked surprised; he seemed quite familiar with the grey man and curiously asked:
“What’s the deal with this little guy? Why not place some chips on the descendant of the Boss?”
“It’s just a game… Since it’s not easy for everyone to gather like this, we should play it thrillingly.
They are just a few land deeds, after all. The troubles are soon to arrive, so distributing a few land deeds can also reduce my personal stress.”
