My Bratty Wife -
Chapter 106 - Hundred And Six
Chapter 106: Chapter Hundred And Six
As Suzy entered the manor, she could hear the sounds of dinner being served. She could smell the delicious aroma of food being prepared. She was starving, and she couldn’t wait to eat.
She made her way to the kitchen, where Mrs. Madelyn was busy preparing dinner.
"Hello, Mrs. Madelyn," Suzy said, her voice filled with excitement. "I’m starving."
" Where have you been child, everyone was worried sick thinking something had happened to you. His grace was almost out of his mind when he found out you weren’t home." Mrs Madelyn scolded her.
" I’m sorry for making you and everyone else worried" Suzy said trying to pacify her.
Mrs. Madelyn smiled. " It’s fine. The most important thing is that you are home." She said. "And I’ve prepared your favorite."
Suzy’s eyes lit up. "Really?" she asked, her voice filled with anticipation.
Mrs. Madelyn nodded. "Chicken and roasted potatoes," she replied.
Suzy’s mouth watered. She took a piece of the potatoes and sunk her teeth in it relishing the taste. She couldn’t wait to eat. " I’ll be down soon." She said as she left the kitchen and into the hallway.
She went to her room and collapsed onto the bed, her body aching. She closed her eyes, trying to rest, but her mind was racing. She couldn’t stop thinking about Ryan, about everything that had happened.
She was so confused, so lost. She didn’t know what to do, what to feel. All she knew was that she was tired, hungry and she needed to rest.
Just then, she heard a knock at the door. She stood up from her lying position and sat on the bed.
"Come in," she called out.
The door opened, and Doris stepped inside. She looked at Suzy, her eyes filled with a mixture of guilt and remorse.
"Milady?" She said, her voice barely a whisper.
Silence.
"Milady," she began, her voice filled with sadness. "I’m sorry."
Suzy turned to face her, her expression cold and unforgiving. "I don’t want to speak to you," she said, her voice barely a whisper.
Doris knelt down, her eyes filled with tears. "I know I lied to you," she confessed. "It was because I wanted you and the Duke to stop fighting. I wanted you two to sort of your misunderstanding."
Suzy stood up, her anger momentarily fading. She walked over to Doris and flicked her forehead, her eyes filled with a mixture of amusement and irritation.
"Oww!" Doris exclaimed, rubbing her forehead.
Suzy smiled. "That’s for lying to me," she said, her voice playful.
"Get up," She said, her voice filled with resignation. "I’ll forgive you, but only if you promise to never lie to me again."
Doris smiled, her eyes filled with relief. "I promise," she said, her voice filled with sincerity. " I won’t do it again."
"Now come on," Suzy said, her voice filled with excitement. "Dress me. I need to be downstairs for dinner."
Doris’s face lit up with joy. She had done it. She had brought Suzy and Ryan back together with the help of Isabella.
She quickly got up and started preparing Suzy for dinner. She helped Suzy get ready, pulling her hair into a low bun. Suzy checked herself in the mirror, her eyes filled with a sense of satisfaction.
"I look good," she said, her voice filled with confidence.
Doris nodded, her eyes filled with admiration. "You look beautiful," she replied.
She went downstairs, her stomach growling. She knew that if she doesn’t eat now, she may die. She clenched her stomach as she got to the entrance of the dining room.
As she entered the dining room, Suzy could smell the delectable spread before her. Roasted chicken and roasted potatoes, fruits, and other delicacies filled the table. She was starving, and the aroma was tantalizing.
Walking towards her seat, she couldn’t help but notice something different. Ryan was sitting there, his plate untouched, his eyes fixed on her. Had he been waiting for her?
She sat down at the table, her stomach growling. She could feel Ryan’s eyes on her, and she glanced up, meeting his gaze. His expression was unreadable, and she couldn’t quite put her finger on it. Was it the look of love Isabella talked about? She wondered to herself.
They both started eating, the silence broken only by the clinking of silverware. A few minutes into the meal, Ryan muttered something under his breath.
"What is it?" Suzy asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Ryan hesitated, his eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and longing. "I was just wondering how my father could cope with the idea that his wife is sitting at a far distance from him while they eat," he replied.
Suzy was surprised by his words. She had never thought about it that way before. "I thought it was tradition," she said, her voice soft. "And you love your traditions so much. After all, you are a man of tradition. Why complain?"
Before she could finish her sentence, Ryan stood up from his seat. He walked over to her, towering over her. With a gentle movement, he picked up her chair and positioned it closer to his.
Suzy’s eyes widened in surprise as she was lifted off the ground. She found herself sitting right next to Ryan, her heart pounding in her chest.
Ryan came back and carried her plate of food to her new sitting position, his eyes filled with a tender smile as he dismissed the servants trying to help him. Suzy just sat there, dumbstruck, her mind racing. She couldn’t believe what had just happened.
Ryan sat back down, his eyes locked with Suzy’s. He reached out and took her hand, his touch gentle and reassuring.
Suzy looked at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of confusion and something else. She didn’t know what to say, what to do.
Ryan smiled, his eyes filled with a warmth that she had never seen before. "To hell with traditions, I want to be closer to you," he said, his voice low and seductive.
Suzy’s heart skipped a beat. She had never felt this way before, a mixture of fear and anticipation. She didn’t know how to react with whatever that was happening.
The servants murmured in a low voice, their eyes wide with astonishment.
" I want you close to me because I’m afraid that if I take my eyes off you for even a second you will disappear again" he said, his voice soft.
