Chapter 320: 320 My younger uncle is super awesome
Lin Tang saw that Su Zheng didn’t want to talk, so she didn’t force him.
She would find out sooner or later anyway.
"Let’s go, I’ll take you to the Public Security Bureau."
Su Zheng didn’t move his feet and clutched his clothes, asking anxiously, "Why do we need to find the Public Security Bureau?"
The child’s eyebrows were tightly furrowed.
The words ’guilty conscience’ might as well have been printed on his face.
"Children who run away from home should, of course, look for a police officer, shouldn’t they?" Lin Tang said naturally.
She certainly didn’t dare to rashly take this child home with her.
Who knew if that would attract the Public Security Bureau, and she would bizarrely become a human trafficker.
Su Zheng, racked with guilt, walked towards Lin Tang.
His soft, tender hand held Lin Tang’s.
"Sister Tangtang, my foot hurts, can we wait until tomorrow to find the police officer?!"
His voice was soft and obedient.
In truth, he was thinking: first secure Sister Tangtang’s trust, then figure out another plan tomorrow.
Lin Tang’s heart was as hard as steel, and she said with a stern face, "No!"
At such a young age, his cunning wasn’t small at all.
Su Zheng pouted.
But since he wasn’t familiar with Lin Tang, he didn’t dare to argue.
He could only puff out his cheeks and follow behind her.
After a while, Su Zheng’s steps became slower and slower.
Lin Tang turned around, "What’s wrong?"
"My foot hurts," Su Zheng mumbled with a bitten lip.
He had been scolded a few times by that bad person when he made noise at the start, and then he walked a long, long way, his feet hurting terribly.
Lin Tang stopped.
She found a rock big enough to sit on and let Su Zheng sit down.
"Sit down first, I’ll take a look."
She took off his shoe.
Several blisters had formed on his delicate little foot, with skin worn away in places.
Seeing this, Lin Tang’s gaze softened with surprise as she looked at the child.
She thought he was a spoiled brat, but in fact, he was enduring.
She applied medicine to Su Zheng’s foot.
Then, turning her back to him, she said,
"Climb on, I’ll carry you."
Su Zheng obediently climbed on, covering his small mouth and curling his brows and eyes.
"...Thank you, Sister Tangtang."
Lin Tang did not respond. Carrying him as if he wasn’t even there, she walked briskly towards the town.
They reached the Public Security Bureau.
Liu Guoan wasn’t there; a young comrade received them.
With the reason of having found a lost child, she completed the registration and Lin Tang planned to go home.
Before she had even left the Public Security Bureau, Su Zheng ran over and hugged her leg.
"Sister Tangtang, I don’t want to stay here; I want to follow you," the child said stubbornly.
Lin Tang: "..." Who are you, and why should you follow me?
"You stay here and wait for your family. I have to go to work and don’t have time to take care of you," she said, giving a casual reason.
Su Zheng burst into tears in an instant.
The tears fell plop, plop.
Like a little cub that had lost its protector.
He didn’t speak, just looked up at Lin Tang with a wronged expression and silently shed tears.
It was a sight distressingly hard to bear.
Lin Tang asked helplessly, "What do you want?"
While wiping his tears, Su Zheng looked at her cautiously and said, "I, I want to follow you."
As he spoke, the hand holding Lin Tang’s hem tightened slightly.
Lin Tang had a face full of exasperation and promptly refused, "It’s not convenient for me, I have to go to work. Here, the comrades will take care of you..."
It was one thing to take care of her own child, but another to take care of someone else’s. She had a psychological barrier.
Su Zheng hung his head in disappointment and stopped talking.
His little white hand wiped the tears as he sobbed and sniffled.
Ten minutes later—
Lin Tang left the Public Security Bureau.
In her hand, she was holding a red-eyed but smiling Su Zheng.
"We have an agreement, okay? You can follow me, but you have to stay at home. Don’t run around or mess with things, and make sure you don’t cause me any trouble."
It must have been her damnable kindness at play.
Otherwise, how could she have possibly softened at the thought of the little guy having no one to look after him, and might have to stay all alone for a few days, and taken him home...
Su Zheng nodded, putting on an act of being the perfect well-behaved child.
"I know, I know, I promise to behave nicely," he said, patting his chest.
Lin Tang: "..." The faster you agree, the more nervous I get.
But the mess had been taken on, no turning back now.
I could only hope that this guy’s family would come and take him away soon.
Shortly after, the two returned to where Lin Tang lived.
No sooner had they arrived than a ’gurgle gurgle...’ rumbling arose from Su Zheng’s belly.
The little boy looked around sheepishly, his face screaming ’what just happened?’.
His ears turned red as he put on this adorable, yet comical, ’I have no silver here’ act.
Lin Tang smiled and headed to the kitchen, "Wait here, I’ll go make some food for you."
She was hungry too.
Once in the kitchen, she put down the little kitten she was carrying.
The kitten snuggled in the corner, docile and soft.
Su Zheng squatted on the ground, small in stature.
Every so often, his delicate fingers would poke the kitten.
Being taken away by a stranger seemed to have no effect on him whatsoever.
Curious, Lin Tang asked, "Aren’t you scared?"
Su Zheng guiltily withdrew his cat-poking fingers and sat on a small wooden stool.
He looked up at Lin Tang.
After thinking it over, he shook his head.
"I was scared when the bad guys got me, but not anymore.
My uncle is super tough, he’ll definitely come to rescue me," said Su Zheng.
In his mind, his uncle was a very formidable person.
Just thinking of his uncle made him unafraid.
Lin Tang nodded in response.
She washed her hands and began to cook.
She made a Steamed Egg for Su Zheng and cooked up two homemade dishes for herself - and just like that, the meal was ready.
Su Zheng’s stomach continued to growl.
The smell of the food had him drooling with anticipation.
Lin Tang told him to start eating, but the kid insisted on waiting for her, enduring his hunger.
It was only after she came out of the kitchen that he began to eat.
Seeing the little fellow so considerate, Lin Tang’s initial reluctance to care for him for a few days swiftly vanished.
"Aren’t you hungry? Eat up," she said.
Su Zheng, noticing the change in her attitude, chuckled with a ’heh heh’.
He started eating his Egg Custard with a spoon.
"...Mmm, Sister Tangtang, this Egg Custard is so delicious," the sweet-talking child complimented.
Lin Tang: "If you like it, I’ll make it again for you tomorrow."
It’s not like Egg Custard was a difficult dish to make, just a matter of a few minutes really.
"Thank you, Sister Tangtang!"
Next, Su Zheng demonstrated his appreciation for the meal with his actions.
Lin Tang was also taken aback by his appetite.
Her own appetite was modest, normally unable to finish a single dish she cooked.
And yet today she had cooked two.
And they were both... gone.
"...Does your stomach hurt?" Concerned Su Zheng might have overeaten, Lin Tang inquired.
"Not at all!" Su Zheng shook his head energetically as he kept eating, "I always eat this much."
Plus, he hadn’t eaten all day, so of course he ate more.
Lin Tang: "..." Is this kid sure he wasn’t kicked out of his house for eating too much?!
Noticing her silence, Su Zheng slowed down.
"Sister Tangtang, do you think I’m eating too much?" he asked nervously.
But if he didn’t eat enough, he would get hungry at night.
Sister Tangtang wouldn’t hold it against him, would she?!
Lin Tang instantly snapped back, "No, not at all, you eat. Just don’t overdo it."
She could afford that much food.
Su Zheng immediately beamed.
The rapid shift in his expression was akin to a Beijing Face Opera.
"Okay~"

Elsewhere, Mu Sheng returned to his village.
When the villagers saw him, their expressions changed dramatically.
They hurried away.
As if Mu Sheng were some kind of Flood Beast.
As they got closer, snippets of their conversation could be heard.
