Chapter 291: Chapter 291: Miss, don’t go, let’s discuss life

The dinner was quite constrained; the three members of the Shen family were somewhat ill at ease, which caused Xiao Zheng to lose his appetite as well.

After dinner, when the sky had already turned pitch black, you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.

Xiao Zheng took Long Qie and Luo Yusheng to bid farewell and head towards the Pagani.

Just as the three men reached the car, a melodious voice came from afar, sounding very pleasant.

"Brother Xiao, wait..."

Xiao Zheng smiled knowingly and instructed, "Long Qie, Yusheng, wait for me in the car; I’ll be right back."

"Sure thing, Mr. Xiao!" Long Qie gave a knowing look and settled into the car, followed closely by Luo Yusheng.

Xiao Zheng walked towards the lovely figure, and through the evening breeze, he could smell a faint fragrance.

"Jiayi, can’t bear to let Brother Xiao go?"

"Humph, what are you talking about? I’m just here to give you something."

Shen Jiayi rebuked softly; bathed in the moonlight, she handed a small cloth bag to the man she had longed for.

Xiao Zheng took it and saw that it was homemade osmanthus cake; the strong scent of osmanthus was mouthwatering.

"Jiayi, do you still remember our childhood? You always sent me osmanthus cakes behind Aunt Wang’s back. I remember that fondness well."

"How have you been?" Shen Jiayi asked in a mosquito-like voice, her cheeks blushing, her small hands fiddling with the hem of her clothes.

Xiao Zheng looked at her delicate face, took her shoulders, and sat down with her on a stone bench nearby, smiling, "What are you thinking, little lass? Your Brother Xiao is doing well, working as a manager at a big company, living without worries over food and drink."

"That’s good to hear; you’ve been alone all these years—it’s worrisome."

"Jiayi, do you remember what you said as a little girl?"

"What did I say?" Shen Jiayi gradually relaxed, reclaiming the dependency she had for this childhood big brother.

Xiao Zheng leaned in close to her ear, smiling mischievously, "Your words back then were like this: ’Wow, Brother Xiao, you’re so amazing, when I grow up, I want to be your woman.’"

"Brother Xiao, you’re bad; it was just make-believe, how could you take it seriously?"

Feeling the intense masculine breath by her ear, Shen Jiayi instinctively recoiled like a startled fawn, her face flushed and her heart pounding.

Undeterred, Xiao Zheng, with his thick face, pulled her back, gazed into her beautiful eyes, and said gently, "But I took it seriously."

"Um..."

Shen Jiayi, in a fluster, avoided his gaze and leaned on her own beautiful legs, overwhelmed with shyness.

Over the years, the longing for this reunion had constantly haunted her, and now that it had truly come, she was too bashful to express herself.

Years of innocent love as childhood sweethearts; the girl’s naivety was surreptitiously at play.

...

The moon was bright amidst sparse stars, and the evening breeze brushed Shen Jiayi’s hair like a little fairy descended from heaven.

Xiao Zheng and she nestled together on the stone bench, sharing the long-held yearning of their separation, like a pair of lovers deep in romance.

"Jiayi, it’s getting late, Brother Xiao should head back now." Xiao Zheng stood up, gently tapped her shoulder, and prepared to leave.

"Brother Xiao..."

Shen Jiayi suddenly mustered her courage, forcefully grabbed his arm, and threw herself into his embrace, nesting into him as if seeking a safe haven.

Xiao Zheng held her tight, patting her back for comfort.

Meanwhile, not far away, behind a tree, stood a woman. Her eyebrows were tightly furrowed, pupils contracted, and small fists clenched, her face an uneasy mix of emotions.

Indeed, it was Wang Qingyun, Shen Jiayi’s mother.

They say a daughter is her mother’s little cotton-padded jacket, but it seems that when a girl grows up, she doesn’t always stay put; sometimes, she becomes a source of grief.

Now, look what happened: she’s gone straight into a man’s arms. They say daughters always tend to look outward, and it seems there really is truth to that.

No, I absolutely can’t let Jiayi be with this hoodlum. Just one look at this kid and you can tell he’s no good, he can’t be allowed to ruin Jiayi’s happiness for the rest of her life.

She watched the loving couple in the distance, now bidding a reluctant farewell, glancing back repeatedly, which only fueled her anger more.

"Humph, Ah Zheng, you little rascal actually dare to covet Jiayi, haha, Laozi will break you two up no matter what."

.....

Xiao Zheng certainly had no idea about Wang Qingyun’s thoughts; after parting with Shen Jiayi, he was sent home.

By this time, the night had fallen deep, and the entire Yunlan Villa was quiet, a picture of serene silence.

Xiao Zheng moved agilely into the hall, ready to retire to his room for some rest.

However, a little figure suddenly blocked his path, it was none other than Chu Xiaoran, that girl.

Right now, she was wearing a low-cut evening gown that had more than a hint of suggestiveness, her cleavage revealed a dazzling expanse of white that was dazzling to the eyes.

But, Xiao Zheng was puzzled, what was this little girl up to so late? And dressed so officially too?

Especially that cleavage, man, that must be an E cup, right? That’s not scientific!

"Xiao Ran, did you stuff silicone in there?"

"Stuff your big head, ghost! I naturally have such a grand presence, it’s just that your hair is short, and apparently so is your experience," retorted Chu Xiaoran, feeling guilty because she indeed had padded it, but, in the end, it’s the result that matters, not the means. Bigger is better, no problem there.

She grabbed a bewildered Xiao Zheng and pulled him straight into her room.

With a "bang", the door slammed shut violently, the sound carrying far in the quiet night.

Leng Ruobing heard the noise and stepped out of her study, walking with graceful steps to Chu Xiaoran’s door and knocked lightly.

"Xiao Ran, what’s the matter? Why so angry?"

"Oh, it’s nothing, Cousin. The door closed heavily because of the wind. I’m going to sleep now, see you in the morning."

Chu Xiaoran was momentarily stunned when she heard Leng Ruobing’s voice, then, guided by Xiao Zheng’s eyes, she spouted nonsense with a surprisingly tight logic.

Leng Ruobing outside the door pursed her lips in amusement, shaking her head. With the sky clear of even a moon halo, where did the wind come from? Not to say just tonight, but even for the next few days, there wouldn’t be any wind.

What was Xiao Ran up to?

Oh well, better leave her be, but where is Xiao Zheng? Probably out having fun somewhere again.

Leng Ruobing opened Xiao Zheng’s room door, sighed softly, a frown creasing her brows, then slowly returned to the study to work on the future development plans for Qianqiu Group.

In Chu Xiaoran’s room, the two were staring at each other, like a stalemate between a tortoise and a bean.

"Xiao Zheng, it’s a good thing Cousin didn’t find out, or else it would have been a whole lot of nagging."

Chu Xiaoran passed him a cup of milk, her face full of ingratiating expressions, acting like a fangirl.

Xiao Zheng took a sip of the milk, full of confusion. This chick, she’s not normal tonight. When things don’t add up, there’s usually a demon at play.

Damn, that’s some strong demon energy! Snow white and plump, how much padding is in there?

"Xiao Ran, what mischief are you up to? I’m tired from the whole day and need to go to sleep."

"Hey, hey, don’t go, I want to discuss life with you," Chu Xiaoran clung to his arm, her face full of pleading as she cozied up to him.

Great Scott! Discuss life?

Xiao Zheng felt his soul trembling. Under the watch of Leng Ruobing—my dear wife—and with her little cousin? Discussing life?

Is that really okay? I’m actually feeling a bit embarrassed about it.
