Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Shaolin Seventy-Two Special Skills
Driven by curiosity, Xiao Zheng strode towards the desolate courtyard.
In the pitch-black night, the entire Yellow Earth Plain was terrifyingly silent.
After walking several hundred meters, Xiao Zheng looked back, seeing nothing but a few sentry soldiers standing beside the withered high wall.
The nearly twenty-meter-high wall isolated this so-called Red Prison from the rest of the world.
The Red Prison, the foremost of the nation’s ten major prisons, was filled with unknown beings.
Xiao Zheng continued towards the small courtyard on the hillock with a cigarette clenched in his mouth.
Upon reaching the entrance of the courtyard, which was quite large, spanning hundreds of square meters, he felt increasingly heavy killing intents that became more substantial as he drew closer, creating an oppressive atmosphere.
The dull yellow walls of the courtyard bore many traces of fights, with dried-up bloodstains and gashes torn by claws. The moment he stepped into the courtyard, a chilly breeze hit him in the face.
As he entered the courtyard, dozens of cold and ghostly eyes swiftly swept over to Xiao Zheng, their bloodthirsty gaze filled with brutality, as if a pack of vicious wolves were eyeing their prey about to enter their territory.
"I’m new here, please take care of me in the future," said Xiao Zheng with a smile as he walked confidently into the courtyard.
Scattered outside the courtyard lay a dozen men in tattered clothes with hair like weeds and bodies resembling skeletons.
They varied in age and were scattered in every corner of the courtyard, like bodies that had lost their souls.
They were so dispirited that they didn’t even bother to glance at Xiao Zheng entering, considering even a look to be a waste.
In the rooms inside the courtyard were some prisoners, whose conditions were much better than those soulless ones outside.
These prisoners had normal physiques, not as skeletal, and their clothes, albeit tattered, were at least sufficient to cover their bodies, unlike those outside who wore rags that couldn’t even protect their private areas.
After casually picking a spot, Xiao Zheng lay down languidly.
The room had no bed, no furniture, and certainly no appliances, not even a wooden board. Straw was spread all over the floor, with prisoners resting haphazardly here and there.
"Who would have thought that the conditions in the Red Prison could be this terrible."
Xiao Zheng remarked. When he had bravely broken into the European Dark Prison, the environment there—which terrified the whole of Europe—was many times better than this Red Prison!
Every prisoner had their own solitary cell furnished with household appliances; the key point being that women occasionally came to accompany.
In the Red Prison, however, each one was like an Evil Ghost, highlighting the harsh environment, the terrible conditions, and the ruthless survival rules...
"Leave now, and there’s still a way out," said a deep voice from behind as Xiao Zheng had just found a corner to lie down.
"Why?" Xiao Zheng looked at the speaker, a skinny man with his upper body bare. His hair was as tangled as dry yellow weeds, and his eyes were deeply sunken, resembling a living Evil Ghost.
"Give me your clothes, and I’ll tell you."
His voice remained low and calm, as if conserving his own strength. Xiao Zheng smirked playfully. "Answer two of my questions, and they’re yours."
Xiao Zheng shrugged his shoulders.
"One, only one," the man said, straightforwardly.
"I’m willing to answer two, just give me the clothes," chimed in another man, lying to Xiao Zheng’s left. This was a very tall man who had become extremely skinny due to prolonged malnutrition. His towering height was disproportionately skinny, resembling a pole.
"Trust him, and you’ll die miserably," the first man stated flatly.
Xiao Zheng smiled. Right now, he just wanted to know where the Eight-faced Buddha was; the other question was optional.
"As long as you give me your clothes, I can answer all your questions," the latter man said, gesturing to Xiao Zheng with his parched palm. His dry, yellow face twisted into a ferocious grin, looking eerily surreal.
"Alright, I’ll agree to that," Xiao Zheng said without hesitation, taking off his coat and tossing it to the latter. As soon as the man received the coat, he quickly put it on,
Savoring the scent on the clothing, he squinted his eyes and sniffed eagerly, enjoying it like a drug addict indulging in his fix.
Xiao Zheng watched him coldly and said, "I’ve given you the clothes, can you answer my question now?"
However, the latter paid no attention to Xiao Zheng’s words. Instead, wearing the jacket, he kept beckoning Xiao Zheng with a sinister smile and said in a deep voice, "Give me your pants, and I’ll answer you."
Clearly, this was a very greedy man.
"Okay, but I’m going to add two more questions, and you must answer them."
Xiao Zheng’s eyes narrowed into a slit, a hint of coldness revealing itself.
"Don’t worry, as long as I get what I want, I will definitely tell you what you want to know."
The tall, thin man continued to gesture to him with his palms.
"Fine." Xiao Zheng smiled, took off his pants, and threw them to the man.
"And your shoes," the latter said, still sporting a sneer, continuing to beckon Xiao Zheng with his fingers.
"Fine." Xiao Zheng went on and threw his shoes to him as well.
"And the pendant on your body."
The man’s greed knew no limits. He wanted not only Xiao Zheng’s clothes but everything on him, greed that would leave Xiao Zheng without a single item.
"Playing me? Hmph, it looks like you’re courting death!" Xiao Zheng became angry, completely infuriated. This insatiable man,
clearly, was just toying with him.
"Giggle..."
But the latter only let out a creepy giggle, the dry, yellow complexion still bearing a chill and sinister smirk.
"In this place, the strong survive. Kill him, and the others will respect you," said the man who had earlier demanded Xiao Zheng to strip, in a leisurely voice.
A simple, direct statement, highlighting the survival of the fittest rule here.
Xiao Zheng didn’t hesitate, and as the man was putting on his clothes, he struck first!
Whoosh!
An afterimage unfolded rapidly, lunging at the greedy man.
The opponent seemed to have been prepared, tossing aside the clothes in his hands, his withered hands suddenly striking out at the lunging Xiao Zheng.
A seemingly simple strike, but in a brief moment, his fingers transmuted into claws, incredibly sharp, like five keen cold blades slicing through the air.
If struck by his claws, one would undoubtedly be torn and mangled.
"Dragon Claw Hand!"
Xiao Zheng staggered his steps, retreating rapidly several paces back.
He raised an eyebrow, instantly seeing through the technique his opponent had used.
Dragon Claw Hand, one of the seventy-two ultimate skills of Shaolin Temple.
When trained to the extreme, one’s hands are as firm as iron, capable of destroying anything.
Comparable to refined steel weapons.
Seeing Xiao Zheng retreat, the opponent did not give up but continued to step forward, pressing his attack on Xiao Zheng.
In such a harsh and cruel survival environment, once an opponent was offended, one must eradicate them by all means necessary, otherwise, it was tantamount to burying a threat for oneself.
"To think that even a Shaolin master has been imprisoned here, it seems he is no good person either."
Xiao Zheng’s eyes narrowed into a cold line.
Those captured in Red Prison, which one of them hasn’t stained their hands with numerous lives?
