Chapter 599 - 599 599 The Town of Mixed Bloods

599: Chapter 599: The Town of Mixed Bloods 599: Chapter 599: The Town of Mixed Bloods With instant teleportation and my rapid recovery speed, traveling has become a breeze.

Without the need for a mount, running all the way to the target location took me just under two days, despite feeling a bit drained from using magic and needing to rest a little longer.

If my spiritual power were even stronger, perhaps it would take only an hour to reach the destination.

The difference in speed is like comparing a plane to a tricycle; truly astonishing.

A Space Mage surely is the most convenient of all mages.

Since I follow the path of pure spiritual power, which is highly compatible with Space Magic, once I learn more space spells, I could naturally be considered a Space Mage.

Hmm, a Space Mage who knows other types of magic.

After one last rest, Zhao Guang arrived at the target location.

In the distance, the mountain where the fallen Golden Giant Dragon Archis resided was visible, its peak rising above all others.

Directly opposite was a gorge, with a ruined town sprawled at its outskirts.

In this town, Zhao Guang saw all kinds of people—a mix of humans, Beastmen, and various hybrids were all present.

Considering that different races usually face low probabilities of producing offspring, the abundance of mixed races here was nothing short of miraculous.

These hybrids, each one carved from a harsh existence, made this place a lawless zone.

No one sought to annihilate them, nor did anyone care about their welfare.

The town appeared to be in quite a state of disrepair.

As soon as Zhao Guang arrived, a bell started tolling, prompting countless people to run out of their homes, all armed with weapons.

Though their clothing was worn out, their weapons were surprisingly well-maintained and seemed to be taken care of diligently.

Zhao Guang thought it over and walked in, pulling someone aside to ask, “What’s happening, why are you all gathering together?” Only then did Zhao Guang realize who he had grabbed.

Apparently, it was a Half-Elf, very frail-looking but carrying a bow and arrow.

Yet, this delicate Half-Elf had an unexpectedly fiery figure that could blind onlookers.

“Ah, um, who are you?” It was clear to the Half-Elf that Zhao Guang was not from around here.

Despite being wrapped up tight, it was evident that the fabric of his clothing was far from ordinary.

“I am an adventurer from afar, here to slay the fallen Golden Giant Dragon Archis,” Zhao Guang didn’t hide his purpose.

There was no helping it; upon arriving, he had already sensed that not a single powerful being resided in the entire town.

No—it’s not accurate to say there were none.

There were quite a few who could be classified as Intermediate Warriors, and there were also those schooled in magic.

Of course, the strongest ones here were only intermediate level, which to the current Zhao Guang hardly qualified them as powerful.

Survival in such a place meant these people had their own set of skills.

“Ah, you’re here to confront the Golden Giant Dragon, that’s wonderful, at last someone has come to challenge him.”

Poor things, they had lived under the shadow of that dragon for years, barely able to make ends meet.

If there had been any other place they could go, they would have long since abandoned this place.

Alas, elsewhere was the territory of the major races, and should they venture there, they would undoubtedly be expelled.

The only place where they were allowed to exist was right here.

Just then, the bell rang again, with a different rhythm from before.

The people who had been gathering at the wall suddenly halted and then scattered in different directions.

“Hey, what’s going on with them?” This was starting to resemble a drill.

“It must be that no demons were spotted attacking us.

There must have been some movement earlier, prompting a message from the lookout.

Now it seems there was a mistake in the message,” the Half-Elf explained, implying these incidents were a common occurrence.

The locals were accustomed to it and displayed no grievances, understanding that survival necessitated such measures.

“Come, I’ll take you to our village chief,” the Half-Elf offered.

Wait, this was a village?

Zhao Guang just realized.

It merely had a larger population than typical villages, and the surrounding walls were relatively sturdy and large.

At first, he had even mistaken it for a town, as many towns didn’t boast such scale.

Soon enough, the Half-Elf girl led Zhao Guang to a rather ordinary-looking house.

“Chief, Chief, an adventurer has come, here to slay the dragon!”

At these words, the main door burst open, and so did the doors around.

Heads poked out, everyone eager to see the outsider who had come on a quest.

From the house in front, a figure covered in glossy black emerged.

That was Bear-man fur; it looked like a huge bear, though it was a Half-Beast.

Gazing at the figure, it seemed as if the bear-man might have regressed in bloodline, as that would be the only explanation for such an appearance.

Typically, Half-Beasts resembled humans more closely, with only slightly denser body hair.

Most didn’t even have animal-shaped heads or ears, with only a few distinctive markings visible.

Of course, put them next to those avant-garde artists, and it might be hard to tell them apart.

“Greetings, traveler from afar.

Can you truly help us slay the dragon?”

They had suffered greatly and, upon encountering the adventurer, their emotions surged.

However, they also harbored the fear of being conned, as many who had come here were victims of persecution.

Zhao Guang nodded and released his aura, that of a Great Mage.

The bear-man before him, probably the closest this village had to an Advanced Warrior, hadn’t quite reached that level.

It was uncertain whether this was due to personal limitations or ancestral legacy.

Thankfully, his perception was decent enough to sense the tremendous pressure.

“Are you a Great Mage?

Please, come inside.”

Murmurs of restrained astonishment spread among the villagers; a Great Mage was an unimaginable figure to them.

This area was governed by elves, among whom many were mages.

Elves had their own nobles, but a Great Mage represented the nobility of nobles.

It was unthinkable that such a person would appear here and quite the shock.

With such a figure stepping forward, surely the Dragon Demon could be vanquished.

Some even burst into tears of joy.

Zhao Guang found their reactions strange.

It was just a dragon, after all, a Golden Giant Dragon at that; what harm could it do?

After all, if the Golden Giant Dragon truly intended harm, they likely would have been slaughtered long ago.

With these thoughts, Zhao Guang followed the village chief into the house.
