Chapter 115: The emotions that bloomed after the battle

Elder Konrad attacked Rudi directly. But he was stopped by a powerful force.

When the aftereffects of the attack cleared, everyone could see what was going on.

Elder Konrad, who was the elder that brought the disciples of the Sword Sect, was now holding his sword one centimeter away from Rudi’s neck. But the sword’s tip was held between two fingers of someone, preventing it from moving even that single centimeter.

The Sect Master had intervened and caught the sword.

He looked at Konrad and snorted, "I don’t give a fuck about which sect you bastard came from. You tried to kill the disciple of my sect in front of me. So you have to face the consequences."

Bam! He struck with his palm, straight to Elder Konrad’s sternum. Konrad flew away like a cannonball. There was no way a Void Ascension cultivator could endure a palm strike from a Tribulation Transcendence expert.

Elder Konrad was now in a semi-conscious state after taking the strike. Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined that the Sect Master of a seemingly backwater sect would dare to touch him.

He had placed full confidence in his background. He truly believed that even if he killed this prodigy, the elders of this tiny sect wouldn’t dare to utter a single word.

But he was wrong. So damn wrong. The Sect Master was arrogant to his very bones. He didn’t even care where Konrad came from and struck him without hesitation.

While still in the air, Konrad had already lost consciousness. His cultivation base was crippled. He was as good as dead in this man-eating-man world without his strength.

Rudi’s face was still drenched in sweat. A moment ago, he had felt the suffocating aura of death wrap around his throat. It was only because the Sect Master intervened that he was still breathing. He gulped down his saliva.

Sect Master Luther stepped in front of Rudi and smiled. "I didn’t know someone like you was hiding in our sect this whole time. It was our failure not to recognize your talent earlier."

Then he looked toward the crowd and declared loudly,"From today onward, Rudious Stan will become the new Holy Son of the Overlord Sect."

As soon as he declared this, loud cheers erupted from the audience like thunder rolling across the mountains. The crowd had turned fanatic after this spectacular battle. Rudi gained a massive fanbase in a single day.

Ethan was also surprised by the bold action of this Sect Master.

"As far as I’ve heard, this Sword Sect is supposed to be extremely powerful. Where did the sect master get that confidence from? Is this sect hiding some secrets? Well, I’ll find out eventually," he thought.

Rudi had now become a Holy Son thanks to Ethan’s silent interference. He felt immense respect for this unknown senior from the depths of his heart. He thanked Ethan in his mind, "Thanks, senior, for helping me. If you ever need me for anything, just give the word. I’ll be there." Rudi said it as a formality, never expecting an answer.

"Oh, don’t worry. I am fully intending to use you properly, new Holy Son. Now enjoy the glory. At evening, come to the forest behind the mountain. I need to train you properly."

Rudi was struck dumb. "That was just a formality. He wouldn’t really call me whenever he felt like it... would he?"

He was sweating bullets. But then his gaze fell upon the girl he loved, who was still staring at him with wide, glistening eyes. Her name was Lumi—Rudi’s childhood friend. They had entered the sect together. She had a yellow soul too, though hers was a plant-based one—a healing soul. Whenever Rudi was injured, she would always be the one to heal him.

Today she had tried to stop Rudi because she knew he wouldn’t be able to fight those opponents. Rudi had always loved her, but he never dared to expressed his feelings as he thought that she might be better off with the Holy Son who was also pursuing her. He had chosen to distance himself. Still, Lumi had always come to him for every little thing, every little moment she got would she spent with Rudi.

Rudi knew she liked him. But he was afraid. If he showed any affection in return, the Holy Son might make her life a nightmare.

But everything changed today. Rudi was now a Holy Son himself. He stood above all the disciples, second only to the new Divine Son and the elders. Not all the elder, only the grand elder and Sect master. A holy son had similar status as a regular elder.

Rudi stepped down from the stage. Lumi was still staring at him. When she saw Rudi walking toward her, she instinctively turned to leave. She felt that Rudi was now on a whole different level. Someone like her was no longer worthy of him.

But just as she was about to turn away, Rudi caught her hand from behind. With a sudden pull, he took her into his embrace.

"I love you, Lumi. Let’s get married."

Lumi’s breath hitched. Her eyes widened, and for a moment, her mind went blank. But then, as each word slowly sank in, her face turned crimson red.

She had always loved this childhood friend of hers. But she had never dared to say it aloud, fearing it might complicate his life even more.

She couldn’t help but stay close to him every chance she got, yet she had always suppressed her feelings deep in her heart. Now, that dam burst opened.

All of her emotions came flooding out at once.

She hugged Rudi even tighter. Tears rolled silently down her cheeks. She was overwhelmed—happy, excited, and relieved all at the same time.

The Holy Son who had once pursued Lumi also saw this scene from afar but didn’t even dare to make a sound, not even a fart, lest he be vaporized by that monster.

When the sword sect challenged he was one of those disciples who were the elites to be able to fight them. But he was so afraid by their aura that he never went down there.

Rudi gently tussled Lumi’s hair, wiped away her tears, then placed a soft kiss on her forehead. Lumi closed her eyes. She was absorbing this moment, memorizing every feeling. She wanted to remember it for as long as she lived.

When Ethan saw this scene, something stirred in his heart. He thought of Rose.

The relationship between him and Rose was vague and undefined. Though they were engaged and all but they had never shared a moment like this. Their connection always felt like a transaction—like Rose was a porcelain doll he had bought, not a partner.

They had never had a real heart-to-heart conversation. He knew that, because of the vast power gap, Rose could never bring herself to express her feelings. She always felt inferior. Their emotions never had a chance to bloom.

But what was the point of realizing all this now? He couldn’t contact his main body’s consciousness. That dummy was probably still in seclusion.

Sigh. Rose deserved more than this. All the happiness in the world.Afterall she is mine.

I need to find a way to contact him and tell him everything that happened here.

Besides, the Sword of Infinity would be better off with the main body.
