Chapter 145: Why Didn’t You Tell Me?

Before Bai Hanyun could send another batch of supplies, Feng Xiyan hurriedly said, "Fairy Bai, please wait a moment. Xiyan needs to change locations again."

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun raised her brows slightly and said, "Feng Xiyan, you really need to build a bigger warehouse. It’s too troublesome for you to keep moving around like this."

Feng Xiyan smiled helplessly and explained, "Fairy Bai, it’s not that Xiyan doesn’t want to build bigger warehouses, but we don’t have the materials. We can’t even get stone or mud, and there is not a single tree left in Xiqiang City."

"Right now, we are using courtyard houses as warehouses. All the stone, sand, and lime have been used to repair the city walls, so there are no materials left to build new warehouses."

Listening to his explanation, Bai Hanyun said, "Why didn’t you tell me? I can give you the materials, and you can build as many warehouses as you want."

The moment she said that, Feng Xiyan’s eyes lit up. He never expected that she could give them other supplies and asked, "Can Fairy Bai also bestow us with construction materials?"

"Of course. We have lots of great building materials here." Bai Hanyun answered calmly.

Thinking about how he was using courtyard houses as makeshift warehouses, Bai Hanyun felt a pang in her heart. Even in modern times, courtyard houses were expensive to build, let alone ancient ones.

Determined to help him and protect the courtyard houses, Bai Hanyun said, "Feng Xiyan, tell me what materials you need to build warehouses. I will get them for you as soon as possible."

When Feng Xiyan heard this, his eyes lit up with excitement.

The reason Xiqiang City was still in ruins wasn’t because Feng Xiyan or the soldiers didn’t care. It was because they simply didn’t have the materials to repair homes or public infrastructure.

If Bai Hanyun could supply them with construction materials, then they could rebuild the city and welcome more citizens.

People are the foundation of a country. As long as there are people, there is a way to rebuild the country and hope for the future.

Clenching the bronze mirror tightly, Feng Xiyan tried to calm himself, but his voice still trembled with hope and expectation as he said, "Fairy Bai, the common people can now only live on the streets or in dilapidated houses. Xiyan plans to rebuild the city and welcome more people."

Remembering the many refugees outside Xiqiang City, Bai Hanyun agreed. "Sure. If you want to rebuild the city, then I will help you. Just tell me what you need, and I will buy it for you."

Not knowing how to express his feelings properly, Feng Xiyan could only fall silent. A moment later, he said with reddened eyes, "Thank you, Fairy Bai. Xiyan is truly lucky to have met you in this life."

Bai Hanyun didn’t understand the weight of his words, so she simply smiled and replied, "It’s just a small matter. Feng Xiyan, I’m going to send the next items."

"Alright."

With that, Feng Xiyan continued moving to empty rooms and courtyards as Bai Hanyun sent the supplies over. It took them half an hour to transfer everything from Bai Hanyun’s warehouse to Feng Xiyan.

Looking at the supplies that couldn’t fit inside the rooms, Feng Xiyan ordered one of the soldiers, "Go and call General Tan to record and arrange places to store these supplies properly."

"Yes, Great General."

After the soldier left, Feng Xiyan turned to the others and said, "Move the supplies that didn’t fit into another room."

"Yes, Great General." At his command, the soldiers began loading the bags and boxes onto wooden carts and transporting them to other empty rooms.

While the soldiers were busy, Feng Xiyan called out, "Feng Yi."

Two seconds later, Feng Yi appeared behind him and knelt. "Master."

Turning to him, Feng Xiyan said, "Come with me."

"Yes, Master." Following Feng Xiyan, the two walked to another room.

Pointing at the packages of snacks that filled the spacious main hall, Feng Xiyan explained, "These are snacks prepared by Fairy Bai for you all. Distribute them among the brothers. Make sure Feng Wu gets extra."

Feng Wu’s love for food was well known among the shadow guards. When Feng Yi heard that Feng Wu was getting more portions compared to the others, a smile appeared on his lips beneath his mask.

Clasping his fists, Feng Yi said, "Thank you, Fairy Bai and Master, for the reward."

Feng Xiyan nodded, then carried the bronze mirror back to the Great General’s mansion.

Looking at the mountain of snacks, Feng Yi said, "Brothers, you heard Master. Come out and get your share."

A second later, Feng Wu and the other shadow guards appeared in the courtyard.

Staring at the packages of snacks, Feng Wu’s eyes lit up, and he began to drool.

Seeing this, Feng Yi shook his head helplessly and said, "Xiao Wu, you can have three packages. The other brothers can only take two each. We need to send some for the rest of our brothers in the headquarters, as well as leave a portion for the generals and soldiers of the Feng Army."

Hearing this, Feng Wu and the shadow guards clasped their fists and replied in unison, "Yes, Commander!"

While Feng Yi, Feng Wu, and the shadow guards were picking out their snacks, Feng Xiyan arrived back in his mansion and dismounted from his horse.

Seeing him return, the servants greeted him. "Young Master."

Feng Xiyan nodded at them in return and went straight to his study. Placing the bronze mirror on the table, he sat down and began listing the materials needed to repair the houses and build new warehouses.

Once he finished, he said, "Fairy Bai, Xiyan will send you the list of materials we need now."

Remembering that she couldn’t read his language, Bai Hanyun quickly said, "Feng Xiyan, just tell me. I will write them down."

Since she had said so, Feng Xiyan could only comply.
