Chapter 139: Torture, Escape

Chapter 139: Torture, Escape

Knowing that his guess was correct, the man took a puff of his cigar and said, "After generations, the curse has only grown stronger. I don’t want to kill him, you know. I just want to take back what rightfully belongs to me."

After saying that, he tossed the cigar to the ground and crushed it under his foot.

Rubbing it with his sole, he added, "As long as I get that item, I promise to let him live. No matter what, he and I are family. I won’t kill him if I can."

Hearing this, the chained man chuckled. He took a deep breath and said, "You clearly don’t understand the rules of Bu Gui Pavilion. We are loyal only to our Master, and only he can command us."

At those words, the man’s expression darkened. Licking his teeth, he suddenly grabbed the chair and threw it at the chained man’s stomach.

Crack!

"Ugh!"

The chair struck the chained man and shattered into pieces.

Watching through the antique mirror, Bai Hanyun gasped in horror. "Heavens! How can he be so cruel?"

She looked at the chained man’s stomach and saw several splinters of wood embedded in his flesh, with fresh blood streaming from the wounds.

Clutching the frame of the antique mirror tightly, Bai Hanyun asked, "Who are these people? Why are you showing me this? What do you want me to do?"

Just then, the chained man coughed up a mouthful of blood.

"Cough!"

Ignoring him, the man stepped forward, grabbed his hair, and yanked his head back. In a low, cold voice, he said, "Tell me. Where is it?"

The chained man calmly stared at him for a moment, then spat in his face.

Instantly, the man let go of his hair. Wiping the bloody spit from his cheek, the man’s fury ignited. "You dare to spit on me?! How dare you?!"

He then turned to his men and ordered, "Torture him! I want the location before sunrise!"

"Yes, Boss!" The bodyguards responded in unison.

Taking the handkerchief from his assistant, the man wiped his hands and face before storming out of the underground prison.

Once he was gone, the remaining men began selecting tools for the torture.

With nothing else he could do, the chained man closed his eyes and braced himself for the incoming pain.

Sitting on the arhat bed, Bai Hanyun was panicking. She shook the antique mirror and urgently said, "Hey, hey, hey! Aren’t you going to do anything? He is going to be tortured to death!"

Just as she was about to call the police, the antique mirror shone brightly. In the next moment, Bai Hanyun felt her body being sucked into it.

Realizing something was wrong, she cried out in panic, "What are you doing?! You damn mirror!"

At that same moment, in the underground prison, a bright light suddenly illuminates the underground prison. Before the chained man’s eyes could adjust to the sudden light, he heard something hit the ground.

Thud!

Now understanding where she was, Bai Hanyun didn’t dare make a sound. Seeing the men with weapons covering their eyes, she turned quickly to the long table beside her.

Without hesitation, she grabbed an iron bat. Gripping it tightly, she swung it at their backs with all her strength.

"Ugh!"

"Who–!"

"Ah!"

Thud! Thud! Thud!

After striking the last man, Bai Hanyun searched their bodies and found a set of keys. Knowing that she didn’t have much time, she rushed to the chained man and began unlocking the chains.

Soon, the final chain came off. Just then, she felt the same suction force pulling at her. Sensing her soles leave the ground, she cursed the antique mirror a thousand times in her heart.

A second later, Bai Hanyun landed on the soft carpet of her bedroom.

"Aiyo! Are you trying to kill me?!" she asked while rubbing her aching backside as she glared at the antique mirror.

"Aiyo... my butt...." She groaned in pain, propped herself up from the carpeted floor, and crawled back to the arhat bed.

While Bai Hanyun was scolding the antique mirror, the chained man opened his eyes after the golden light disappeared. The next second, he noticed that the chains had been removed.

Seeing the bodyguards lying unconscious on the dirty ground, he quickly stripped one of them and changed into their clothes. Then he grabbed their guns and spare bullets, and then chained the unconscious bodyguards to the cross.

Peeking through the crack in the metal door, he thought, ’Whoever you are, I will find you to repay you for saving my life today.’

Once he confirmed there were no guards outside, he slowly opened the metal door and slipped out quietly.

Meanwhile, Bai Hanyun was scolding the antique mirror.

"Are you trying to kill me? Don’t you know those people are capable of murder?!"

Seeing that the antique mirror was pretending to be dead, she took a few deep breaths to calm herself down.

Opening a bag of potato chips, Bai Hanyun recalled the conversation between the man and the chained man. As she munched on her snack, her mind raced.

After a long silence, she looked at the antique mirror and said, "Hey, the reason you suddenly sent me to help that chained man.... Is it because you didn’t want him to die? Why? Do you know him?"

The antique mirror glowed dimly once, and a word appeared on its surface: [descendant.]

Seeing the word, Bai Hanyun raised her brows and asked in surprise, "That man is your descendant?"

After she asked this, Bai Hanyun waited for the antique mirror to respond, but it remained silent.

Rubbing its frame, she asked, "Are you out of energy again?"

Just as she finished speaking, the surface of the antique mirror rippled, and the word disappeared.

Looking at the now-blurry image of the lake on its surface, Bai Hanyun raised her brows slightly and thought, ’Why is Feng Wu still by the lake today? Is there something he wants to tell me?’
