614: Chapter 103: Achilles Likes to Eat People, Scores Twice, Big Fire!_5 614: Chapter 103: Achilles Likes to Eat People, Scores Twice, Big Fire!_5 Mi’er made the introduction, Crusoe approved, Wolf chose to cooperate, CEO Cheng qualified to play chess behind the scenes—at least on the small chessboard of the California Elephant Party.
“Alright, call me up when it’s about time tonight, I’m heading down first,” he said.
Temir didn’t answer; she just looked at Cheng Daqi without saying anything.
Chan, at least give me an explanation, right?
Cheng Daqi didn’t explain, he simply smiled at her and left.
There are many things that can’t be explained.
Like, Cheng Daqi giving strategies to Gru, and Gru killing people based on them, can that be clearly explained?
No need to explain, just move forward.
—————–
“Bang!
Bang!
Bang!”
In the live TV broadcast, an ABC reporter rushed to the front line of the gunfight, where LAPD’s brave officers fearlessly battled against cold-blooded criminals who dared to throw their lives away today.
Tonight was supposed to be a gathering of the California Elephant Party, but at this moment, everyone at the event was captivated by the TV program.
It had to be ABC; they were the first to enter the crime scene and film the kidnappers during the last Red Street abduction case.
“Usually it’s just live car chases, but today, man, the public safety in Saint Rodu has been getting worse over the past two years, you know it.
The LAPD said only a few died in the Red Street kidnapping case, but in truth, dozens died.”
An old hand of the Elephant Party was holding a glass of wine, chatting away with a friend.
“Dozens died?
Are you joking?”
“Ha, do I need to joke?
You know Domis from the Budget Committee, right?
He was my high school classmate, he told me.”
“Ah, Chief Gru has it tough, look, he’s still on the front lines today; he’s a good cop.”
When they heard this statement, Temir and Cheng Daqi exchanged glances as if possessed.
Cheng Daqi laughed.
With such a tacit understanding, how could they possibly fall out?
They were already inseparable.
“What are you laughing at?”
“Thinking about someone like Chief Gru protecting us, I feel very secure, hence the happy smile.”
CEO Cheng was damn good at talking nonsense; Temir couldn’t hold it in.
“Goose~goose~goose~goose~Chan, fuck, you’re just a dumbass, sorry, God, it’s nothing, I was just thinking of something happy,” she said.
Because of her eerie laughter, the people attending looked at the dark-haired rich woman with strange expressions; Temir gave Cheng Daqi an annoyed glance and then awkwardly raised her glass for a strategic sip of water.
“Mi’er, Chan’s not wrong, why are you laughing?”
Lisa was also at the party tonight, after all, she was an Elephant Party member; Cheng Daqi had conveniently brought her along tonight to broaden her horizons.
“It’s nothing, I just thought of something happy, um, that’s it,” she said.
An utterly confused Lisa glanced at Cheng Daqi and sighed.
“I never thought Cort would actually become a politician, Chan, was this your and Mi’er’s decision?”
As a girl brought up in an elite middle-class American family, Lisa understood the political rules of America.
“No, he decided it himself, I can’t manage your MAS folks,” he replied.
Faced with the black-haired rich woman’s planting, of course, Cheng Daqi had to explain.
“I’m just respecting Cort’s ideals and gave him a hand as a friend, that’s all, you’re reading too much into it,” he said.
The hypocritical man!
Temir scoffed dismissively, took Lisa with her to socialize; she planned to find a handsome guy to chat with, just to annoy Cheng Daqi.
Right then, Benny Donz walked in through the door.
He first chatted with Wolf, Crusoe, and several others, then sat down not far from Cheng Daqi.
This poor kid didn’t want to talk too much; he really came to this bar just to drink tonight, but after arriving, he realized it was booked out.
There were only so many high-end bars in Saint Rodu, and after eliminating the gay bars and trendy bars popular with young people, the remaining options indeed made it easy to run into one another.
However, as a well-known party boy in California’s upper circles, Benny managed to become an advisor to Robert Egger through connections—it was too easy for him to blend in—just by showing his face.
Noticing Benny’s arrival, CEO Cheng raised his glass to him, and Benny, after asking the bartender for two drinks, sat down beside CEO Cheng.
“Chan, you have no idea what I ran into today, fuck America, fuck Saint Rodu, fuck LAPD,” he said.
The seemingly agitated man actually wasn’t that worked up, just as he wouldn’t have said these things to Wolf, Crusoe a moment ago, he was actually very lucid.
Benny thought Cheng Daqi was a small entrepreneur with ideas, so he treated CEO Cheng as an equal, willing to chat with Cheng Daqi about many things.
“What happened?” Cheng Daqi asked.
I’m ready to play along earnestly, CEO Cheng didn’t mind having a longer chat with Benny; the guy was a street-smart member of the California elite, actually quite interesting.
“Today I was at ABC…
fuck, four guys surrounded me, Chan, the LAPD are all a bunch of good-for-nothings!” he blurted out.
CEO Cheng shook his head and pointed at the TV.
“The good-for-nothings you mention have already wiped them all out, but there were explosives at those people’s stronghold and now the whole building has blown up,” he said.
The camera showed great flames leaping into the night sky like claws of a demon, with Chief Gru speaking calmly in front of the camera, with a sea of fire in the background.
Watching the burning house on TV, Benny cursed viciously.
“They deserved it, America’s entire judicial system, including the law enforcement system, is bullshit, even if caught, there’s no guarantee they’d make them die!” he said.
