533: Chapter 87: Don’t Speak, This Is Where It Ends_3 533: Chapter 87: Don’t Speak, This Is Where It Ends_3 “Ah?”
“Internal strife, power usurped by a traitor, facing such a situation, what would Old Joel do?”
Temir felt he understood CEO Cheng anew.
Cheng, I thought I was bad enough, but you’re even more ruthless.
“You have a great imagination, Cheng, I can’t figure out what you want to do now.”
“Maybe destroy the world?”
Cheng Daqi answered with a laugh.
His goal, of course, wasn’t to destroy the world, but it wasn’t far off either.
He wanted to set off a bomb within America, to shake its hegemonic system, even if just a bit.
“Then don’t leave me behind; take me with you, okay?”
Cheng Daqi remained silent for a long time.
“Have you seen Joker?” (Joker 2019 was very classic, but there were many before that, so it’s okay to mention this here)
“Are you saying I’m like Harley Quinn?”
“No, what I’m saying is that our goals might actually be the same.”
—————–
The “Joker” series focuses on points different from other American superhero stories.
As one of the protagonists of the series, Joker represents an image against authority and the system.
This is exactly why “Joker 2019” was so iconic, as it was a special product of the American ideological transformation period.
Before “Joker 2019,” all of Hollywood’s big productions were more keen on telling hollow American superhero stories, but by aligning with the demand for an ideological transformation, “Joker 2019” achieved unprecedented influence.
Its explosive popularity appealed to Americans’ confusion over the fast-paced 21st century and dissatisfaction with the increasingly prominent internal contradictions in America due to its inability to continue its expansion.
In the second half of the 20th century, with the rise of America’s economic hegemony, it created the first global empire in human history through global harvesting and technological advancement—an atypical global empire with an economic imperialism and a proxy empire system in tandem.
In terms of the form of the empire, its influence even surpassed that of the British Empire at its height—gunboats couldn’t penetrate the interior of continents, but economic influence could reach every corner of the globe.
And the reality of this empire’s rise called for a change in America’s ideology.
After World War II, America’s ideological realm roughly went through three phases.
Forgoing complex theoretical discourse and looking simply at the phenomenon, one can understand it as the “Age of Compromise (Cold War leftist movement wave),” the “Age of Freedom (post-Cold War liberalism and global expansion)” and the currently unfolding “Age of Reshaping (economic crisis exposing underlying issues, internal division intensifying)”—from 2014 to 2024, this lengthy reshaping period hasn’t settled yet.
At the point in time in 2018, some within the deep government of America recognized the decline of America’s hegemony but were still striving to maintain it.
Another group believed that their so-called opponents had only risen with America’s permission—and as soon as the masters of America started taking the opponent seriously, the situation would definitely improve.
Ironic as it is, opposition to their main opponent is the only consensus between the two parties in America, the only one.
The most absurd part is that in both the Democratic and Republican parties, there were clear-headed individuals who knew that America paying attention wouldn’t help, which is why McCarthy got backstabbed and Niu Sen visited Hua Country—there were factions within the Republican establishment and the California Clique willing to compromise with Hua Country.
In reality, the reasons behind these two camps’ compromises differed, but the very causes of these differing demands were the same.
The seats in the House of Representatives of America are based on the population size of each state.
California is America’s number one economy, with a population large enough to form a pole of its own in the House.
During the two-party switch in the ’80s and ’90s, the California Clique collectively turned blue, directly affecting the political game in America—they had the power to tilt the balance on their own.
The smiling girl was one of the California clique, standing behind her were people like Niu Sen.
And cleverly, As a power in the Democratic Party, Nancy Pelosi visited the island of Taiwan in 2022 But just after one year, Gavin Newsom visited China, hedging both sides—the California Clique has the power to influence the direction of the world.
This is also why CEO Cheng wanted to get closer to Niu Sen’s cousin.
In terms of the specifics behind the compromise, for the California Clique it was because of economic interests.
Why has California become the top economy in America?
Silicon Valley!
Intense confrontation could tear through America’s tiger skin, and thereby affect its globalized interests, influencing the global internet giants in California.
Hence, what the California Clique wants is for nothing to change—while also keeping Hua Country’s internet enterprises, big businesses, out of America.
The compromisers within the Republican establishment, though, compromised for another reason—they did it to avoid being betrayed, largely also for their own interests.
Families like the Caramakris Family, a Republican local nobility, control many benefits of a state.
Even if America crumbled, they would remain the everlasting overlords—in a society with ever-increasing industrial and capitalized technology thresholds, wealth inheritance is much simpler than before.
This is also one of the main reasons the establishment opposes that man.
That man appears outwardly mad but is perceptive inside, yet there is no mutual trust.
Thus, many in the Republican Party are quite afraid he will go mad and drag them down with him.
Being conservative is for their own interests, not for America’s hegemony—that’s why the establishment is willing to compromise.
Of course, their consensus still exists—opposing a certain country.
—————–
From the perspective of interests, CEO Cheng and Mi’er share the same goal; CEO Cheng wants to shake America’s hegemony, while Mi’er wants to become the head of the Caramakris Family.
