261: Chapter 112: Sun Dongxin enters mas, bursts out English in shock!

Investors and entrepreneurs cooperate through a bilateral selection process, yet most of the time, investors hold a relatively stronger position.

Therefore, for the majority of entrepreneurs lacking funds, there is an inherent anxiety when dealing with investors.

This anxiety can be even more poignant than the throes of romance, causing many entrepreneurs to lose their composure in the process of facing investors.

Many swindlers have zeroed in on this opportunity, masquerading as investors and perpetrating scams far and wide.

The simplest scams involve money, but the cruelest may also deceive entrepreneurs out of their wives.

Cheng Daqi hadn’t encountered many swindlers disguised as investors in his past life, as he had Sun Dongxin to vet them for him.

Today, Sun had traveled thousands of miles to Saint Rodu, and Cheng Daqi had intended to be the perfect host.

But the Sun Dongxin that now sat before him was a changed man from the one in his memories, and after a bout of polite but empty conversation, Cheng Daqi realized he needed to adjust his mindset.

He gripped the steering wheel with one hand and with his other, sent messages on his cellphone to his business contacts in Shanhaiguan.

CEO Cheng needed some outside assistance; many of the data points he had seen in his previous life had been forgotten, and Sun’s sudden arrival meant he had to cram.

—————–

At OC Perfumes, Lisa’s office.

She was flipping through the resumes of today’s interviewees, incessantly cursing Cheng Daqi in her head.

‘I called you for 7:30, and now it’s 9:00 and you’re still not here?

Are you a pig?’

The interviews were set to start at 9:30, and many candidates were already waiting downstairs; however, the company’s main man hadn’t arrived yet, which was truly making Lisa restless.

It was like the emperor isn’t in a hurry, but his eunuchs are.

All one could say was, CEO Cheng really played it high; he nonchalantly steered Temir’s darling off course.

Now here was Lisa, sitting in OC’s office, with her mind entirely preoccupied with matters concerning MAS.

The administrative assistant knocked on the glass door of the office.

“Come in,” the blond caucasian said without looking up.

“The person has arrived, but not alone; he brought two assistants with him,” the admin assistant reported.

Picking up the interview list and clutching her coffee, Lisa headed straight for the lobby.

After some thought, she decided it was best to conduct the interviews alongside Cheng Daqi.

After all, she owned a share in MAS, and it was at her insistence that OC’s HR department proceeded with the hiring.

From any perspective, she had the right to be involved in the interviews for MAS.

When the blond white woman reached the entrance of MAS, she discovered Cheng Daqi sitting among a row of chairs, blending in with the crowd of interviewees.

“Cheng?”

Cheng Daqi was having a delightful conversation with an Indian guy next to him, but Lisa, lacking some foresight, didn’t realize that Cheng was mingling with the crowd to gather information.

All interviewees took notice of this file-and-coffee-wielding professional—her beauty was such that, even in formal attire, it made everyone, regardless of gender, drool.

Upon her opening her mouth, the interviewees followed her gaze and spotted Cheng Daqi among the crowd.

CEO Cheng shook his head and stood up to speak.

“Lisa, let’s have a private chat first.

Everyone, please wait for a moment.

The interviews will start at 9:30, and the admin will soon distribute interview numbers according to the sign-in order.”

Only then did the interviewees realize that the big boss had been posing as one of them to get a lot out of their conversations.

The Indian guy—who had just been enjoying his chat with Cheng—turned pale, realizing the implications of what he said in front of the company’s big boss; he figured he might as well skip the interview that day.

He had thought Cheng, hiding among the masses, was just another hard-working pleb like himself, so he spoke freely about work from such a perspective.

Watching Cheng Daqi and Lisa walk away filled with resentment, the Indian fellow thought to himself, “Since I’m here, I might as well try,” considering it an interview practice.

The blond white woman glanced at Sun Dongxin and his assistant inside the large conference room but said nothing, instead turning to Cheng Daqi.

“Cheng, what were you just doing?”

“Just getting an insight into the minds of American job seekers; it was somewhat enlightening.

It could be because MAS is still a small company, but today’s applicants aren’t anything out of the ordinary; their thoughts are quite simple, with no high expectations for us.”

Cheng Daqi offered a brief explanation and then turned to Sun Dongxin.

“General Sun, has it been a while since you personally got involved in interviews for entry-level positions?”

As an entrepreneur, by having investors observe his company’s interview process, Cheng Daqi demonstrated his capacity and business methods.

It was through this process that he could showcase his philosophy and approach to work to Sun Dongxin.

“Interviews are pretty much the same everywhere.

I’ve always felt that interviews are not important; whether a person is truly suited for a job is something you can only judge based on their performance in the actual work,” Sun replied.

That was very much the philosophy of Dongxin Group; Sun Dongxin recruited many people every year, and within six months, weeded out most of them, retaining only a small group of exceptional individuals.

Cheng Daqi nodded in agreement and then made simple introductions between Lisa and Sun Dongxin.

“I share your viewpoint.

However, as MAS is just starting, we can’t afford to splurge on talent like Dongxin can.

Lisa is my partner and also an important investor in MAS.

This is my investor from Hua Country, Dongxin Sun, who just flew into Los Angeles today to discuss investment details with me in-depth.

I invited him to join us in today’s interviews; I hope you don’t mind?”
