_3 Now I’ve even been seen through by Sani.

This feeling is like pouring wine under the table, and just when you’re getting into it, suddenly realizing that all the friends you’re competing with are staring at the pouring hand.

The point is their sudden and inexplicable attention, which pierced through the feeble little trick.

If I were caught in the middle of pulling a fast one like this, even a teacher would have to throw up his hands.

“Then just say it straight, why mention the American dream, or withered life, and you haven’t been thrown into jail, have you?”

Sani looked at Cheng Daqi as if he were a fool, laughing and teasing.

Her neighbor was just too talented, speaking just like the liars full of lies on TV, which she didn’t like one bit.

“That was a metaphor…”

Cheng Daqi whispered in his defense.

He actually already had a reliable method to coax some people to join the venture, such as offering salaries.

But even with Twenty Thousand Dollars in hand, Cheng Daqi felt no urge to spend money on hiring at the moment.

After all, legal status was so expensive, and every single Dollar had its significant use.

Holding the thought that if he could bluff his way through now and compensate later, he put on the show earlier.

“Chan, did you just say you hope we would start a business with you?”

Kernor gratefully turned to Scott, who had asked the question, feeling like he wanted to ask something, but couldn’t figure it out, and Scott had asked it for him.

Nodding affirmatively, Cheng Daqi sat back on the bar stool.

“I don’t know many people in America, and the few I trust are only you guys, who else would I look for if not you?”

With his plan for a temporary free ride foiled through his bluff, Cheng Daqi began to calculate the cost of starting a company and hiring employees.

Hearing Cheng Daqi’s reply, the blond veteran glanced at Sani and realized that the Black sister seemed to have thought of the same thing as him.

He gestured with his eyes for Sani to speak up, while he raised his glass and took a big gulp.

“But Chan, all three of us are hobos, with no money and not much skill, not even knowing where our next meal will come from, what help could we possibly offer you?”

Furiously nodding to signify agreement, Kernor felt he had made the right choice befriending these people.

There was no need for him to speak; others understood what he wanted to say intuitively.

“You are my most dependable partner, Kernor has a lot of potential, Scott, you…

can shoot and drive, you’re also skilled.”

Cheng Daqi wanted to say Scott was the most normal, but he didn’t dare to say it out loud.

Some truths hurt too much when said aloud, especially among friends here.

“Chan, you could have just told us straight if you wanted us to join your venture.

As friends who have survived together, I would certainly help you.

What worries me the most is that my illness might hold you back.”

Scott was the first to speak up, expressing his stance.

Of course, he didn’t mind helping Cheng Daqi; he just had reservations about his own PTSD.

“Chan, I’ve already taken you as my master, I should be following your orders now, it’s just that I’m a bit slow, I’m afraid I’ll mess up your affairs…”

As a fan of Hua Country martial arts, Kernor was clear about the significance of taking a master, otherwise, he wouldn’t have kowtowed himself into a stupor.

He was self-aware, and that self-awareness was in itself great wisdom.

“Chan, we’re family, haven’t you forgotten?”

Looking into Sani’s sincere eyes, Cheng Daqi felt very happy; happy that he had played the joker.

His friends were so willing to help him, yet the joker had been so small-minded to have harbored so many petty schemes.

He raised his glass, clinking it with the other three.

“To hell with the American dream!

Cheers!”

“To hell with the American dream!”
