My Aloof Lord Ex-Husband Begs for Remarriage -
Chapter 258 - 259: Leaving the Palace
Chapter 258: Chapter 259: Leaving the Palace
"Yunting Brother, could Sister have already left?" Lin Fuying said with pursed lips, her expression somewhat aggrieved.
Ye Yunting frowned and did not speak; the air pressure inside the carriage was somewhat low.
Seeing Ye Yunting with a dark face, Lin Fuying tactfully stopped asking any further questions.
In her heart, jealousy toward Chu Nanli increased even more.
What made this cheap woman so worthy of Ye Yunting’s concern!
Ye Yunting seemed to be dozing off, but in reality, he was attentively listening to every move and sound outside.
He hadn’t sensed Chu Nanli’s presence at all.
After about a quarter of an hour, Ye Yunting opened his eyes and saw Chu Nanli stepping out of the palace gates at a leisurely pace.
She was dressed in a light duck yellow robe, which formed a stark contrast against the red palace walls, making her seem ethereal and vivacious, indescribably stunning.
Ye Yunting gave Ye Yi a look.
Ye Yi hurriedly went over and respectfully greeted Chu Nanli.
"Princess Consort, the carriage is this way."
Only then did Chu Nanli remember that Ye Yunting said he would wait for her to go back together.
She didn’t expect that he would really wait until now.
Chu Nanli glanced towards the carriage and indeed saw Ye Yunting sitting inside with a cold face.
Next to him sat Lin Fuying, looking innocently unaware.
Chu Nanli tugged at the corner of her lips.
If she boarded the carriage, it would probably cause unnecessary trouble.
"You go ahead, I will go back by myself," Chu Nanli said indifferently.
Ye Yi was startled and immediately felt somewhat awkward.
They had already waited for so long; if Chu Nanli didn’t return with them, wouldn’t their waiting be in vain?
The Prince would certainly be furious.
"Princess Consort, this is the Prince’s wish; the Prince has been waiting here for an hour now," he said.
Chu Nanli frowned slightly.
She didn’t expect Ye Yunting to have actually waited here for a whole hour.
But so what?
If she took the carriage, Lin Fuying would inevitably seize the opportunity to cause trouble, leading to conflict.
Being pregnant, she needed to consider the baby and try not to get angry for the baby’s sake.
"No need," Chu Nanli stated firmly.
"Ye Yi, come back," a cold voice suddenly came from inside the carriage like frost.
That voice was bone-chilling, as if it could freeze someone solid.
Ye Yi’s heart skipped a beat; he knew Ye Yunting was angry.
He was about to try persuading him again when he heard Ye Yunting angrily say, "If she doesn’t wish to take the carriage, then let her walk back!"
At this time, there were no carriages passing by,
Chu Nanli doesn’t want to go with him, right?
Then she can walk back by herself!
"Prince, don’t be angry with Sister. The Imperial Palace is far from the Prince Residence; how can you let Sister walk back?"
Lin Fuying, seeing Ye Yunting angry, felt extremely pleased, yet her face showed only concern as she looked toward Chu Nanli.
"Sister, you better get on the carriage quickly; otherwise, it will be dangerous when it gets dark," Lin Fuying said softly, her tone entirely filled with concern for Chu Nanli.
"No need," Chu Nanli said indifferently.
She didn’t want to pay attention to Lin Fuying’s fake kindness.
"Don’t bother with her!" Ye Yunting said with furrowed brows, his face completely darkening, his eyes full of cold light.
"Go!" Ye Yunting commanded angrily.
Seeing this, Ye Yi had no choice but to get back on the carriage.
Lin Fuying, seeing that Ye Yunting was genuinely angry, did not dare to say anymore.
She turned to look at Chu Nanli, her gaze carrying a trace of mockery.
After the carriage drove away, Lin Fuying gently patted Ye Yunting’s back. "Yunting, brother, don’t be angry anymore. Sister didn’t mean to do that on purpose."
Ye Yunting’s face remained stiff, and he said nothing.
"Don’t think about the unhappy things, Yingying is still here with you." Lin Fuying’s voice was incomparably gentle as she leaned weakly against Ye Yunting’s shoulder.
Ye Yunting frowned.
"Brother, Yingying is tired. May I lean on your shoulder and sleep like we did when we were little?"
"Mm," Ye Yunting said in a deep voice, his gaze flickering with a trace of melancholy.
After Ye Yunting left, Chu Nanli strode forward, thinking about trying her luck in meeting a coachman later on.
Before she had taken two steps, she saw a carriage coming from outside the palace.
Atop the carriage, Princess Consort waved to Chu Nanli.
A flicker of surprise crossed Chu Nanli’s eyes.
"Sister, are you leaving the Imperial Palace?"
"Yes, I am going home to visit my family for a few days. Get in the carriage," the Princess Consort said softly.
She had just come out and saw Chu Nanli walking slowly out of the Imperial Palace alone, so she knew Ye Yunting must not have waited for her.
Men indeed always favored the new and tired of the old!
"Thank you, sister." Chu Nanli didn’t stand on ceremony and got directly into the Princess Consort’s carriage.
As soon as she got in, she saw the large and small parcels inside the carriage.
"What is all this, sister?"
"I am going back to my hometown, Yuhang, for a few days. The journey is long, so I brought more things," the Princess Consort explained.
"Yuhang, a good place," Chu Nanli said, a trace of longing in her eyes.
She hadn’t yet had a chance to properly explore this world since her arrival.
Once she had raised the two little ones a bit bigger, she might be able to achieve that.
"Would you like to accompany your sister back?" the Princess Consort asked with a smile.
"I still have some matters to deal with recently. Maybe next time," Chu Nanli said in a low voice.
The carriage moved swiftly, and within a quarter of an hour, it had left the area of the Imperial Palace and arrived at the Prince Residence.
Chu Nanli bid farewell to the Princess Consort and returned to Chuxiang Garden.
As soon as she entered, Yanyan immediately came to greet her.
"Your Highness, you’re back. I was so worried!"
"It’s all right," Chu Nanli said with a smile.
"You say it’s all right, but I heard that your experience in the palace this time was extremely perilous; several times you nearly lost your life!"
Yanyan furrowed her brow, looking at the oblivious Chu Nanli, feeling determined that in the future she could not let her go out alone.
"Your Highness, wherever you go in the future, this servant will follow!" Yanyan stated with conviction.
Chu Nanli felt warmed by her heart, knowing that Yanyan was worried about her.
"Alright, I have come back safe and sound, haven’t I? I’m a bit hungry, have someone prepare some food for me," Chu Nanli said, patting her stomach and then added, "Oh, and call Chu Yi over."
"Yes," Yanyan nodded and went to do as Chu Nanli instructed.
Before long, the food was brought up, and Chu Yi also arrived.
"Sit down and eat with me," Chu Nanli said, not wishing to eat alone, so she invited him to join.
"I cannot," Chu Yi said cautiously, stepping back.
Seeing Chu Yi’s restraint, Yanyan also did not presume to join, although she had previously dined with Chu Nanli. She was clearly aware that Chu Nanli was her master.
When Chu Nanli saw their refusal, she did not press any further.
"Then you two wait for me," Chu Nanli said.
Right now she was very hungry and did not want to say much, opting instead to eat heartily.
Yanyan and Chu Yi were both surprised to see Chu Nanli’s appetite so hearty, and at the same time, they felt a pang of sympathy for her.
"The Princess Consort must have been tired these past few days," Yanyan murmured softly.
"A bit tired, but it was worth it," Chu Nanli said after swallowing her last mouthful. She put down her chopsticks and looked at Yanyan, a glimmer of joy in her eyes.
"Ye Yunting has agreed to let me move out."
"Really?" Joy shone in Yanyan’s eyes.
