Chapter 236: Chapter 237 Changed

He felt deep down that Chu Nanli had changed, as if she had become an entirely different person.

Yet he dared not believe it, how could someone just change overnight?

Perhaps, Chu Nanli’s previous demeanor was all an act she put on.

Ye Yunting’s brows darkened, and he felt a headache for the first time, slowly sitting down with the support of a chair, as if something was about to burst through his mind.

Images vaguely flitted through his head: a temple, a bowl of medicinal soup, and the silhouette of a woman.

Ye Yunting felt that he might really be infected with smallpox, and hurriedly lay down to rest.

After Chu Nanli and Zhuang Muyan had their desserts, they went to Bai Wuheng’s sickroom.

By this time, Bai Wuheng was delirious with fever, continuously uttering pained moans.

Seeing the person responsible for her child’s condition reduced to this state, Chu Nanli surprisingly didn’t feel much satisfaction.

Nevertheless, she couldn’t let Bai Wuheng off so easily.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t do justice to the original host and all the suffering she endured.

"You give him the medicine," Chu Nanli said to Zhuang Muyan.

She didn’t want to personally attend to Bai Wuheng.

"Alright," Zhuang Muyan immediately helped Bai Wuheng sit up and poured the medicine down.

At this point, Bai Wuheng couldn’t swallow the medicine on his own.

Luckily, Zhuang Muyan was an Imperial Physician and handled the situation professionally, quickly getting all the medicine down.

"Master, what should we do next?" Zhuang Muyan looked to Chu Nanli.

"Prop him up, cover him with several more blankets, and bring over a brazier if there’s one available."

"Alright," Zhuang Muyan replied.

The Jade Consort used to be favored, so the storerooms of her palace were well-stocked.

Therefore, Zhuang Muyan very quickly brought the bedding and brazier.

The temperature in the room also rose rapidly.

"Once that’s done, we’ll leave," Chu Nanli said indifferently.

"Alright," Zhuang Muyan nodded.

Following behind Chu Nanli, as they left the room, he couldn’t help asking, "Master, why are we covering him with blankets when he has a fever?"

Zhuang Muyan had wanted to ask this question earlier and had been holding it in for quite some time.

People with a fever should be cooled down first, so why did the master insist on covering him with blankets and using a brazier?

"Want to know the reason?" Chu Nanli pulled at her lips slightly.

"Yes," Zhuang Muyan nodded earnestly.

"Alright, you can know, but first recite the book I gave you," Chu Nanli teased intentionally.

The book on the principles of Western medicine was complicated for Zhuang Muyan, just understanding it was hard enough, much less memorizing it.

Zhuang Muyan, as expected, looked troubled as he scratched his head and ear, casting an apologetic glance toward Chu Nanli, "I’m sorry, master, I haven’t studied properly."

Seeing his somewhat embarrassed and flustered manner, like an innocent and bewildered fawn, Chu Nanli couldn’t help but chuckle.

She laughed softly, "You deserve to be punished. I gave you the book, and yet you didn’t bother to memorize it. When will you be able to learn Western medicine properly?"

With that said, Zhuang Muyan felt even more ashamed and hung his head lower.

"Master, punish me," he said softly, his voice carrying a hint of innocence and grievance.

It made Chu Nanli feel somewhat reluctant to punish him.

Besides, Chu Nanli herself had only wanted to tease him; she wasn’t a strict teacher.

In her previous life, she had almost let her own disciples run wild.

She indeed epitomized the saying, "The master leads you to the door, the practice is up to you."

Yet, none of her disciples turned out poorly.

She also believed that Zhuang Muyan would not be an exception.

"Alright, considering this is your first offense, I won’t punish you this time," Chu Nanli said.

Ye Yunting, resting in his room, heard the noise outside and felt his headache was about to explode.
