Chapter 224: Chapter 225 Are you hungry at the War King Residence?
"Master, please eat."
Zhuang Muyan couldn’t help but smile at the sight of Chu Nanli, who was both hungry and reluctant to start eating.
He hadn’t expected Chu Nanli to have such a cute side.
Only then did Chu Nanli pick up one of the pastries shaped like little rabbits and bit into it, the sweetness melting in her mouth.
Seeing the curved brows and smiling eyes of Chu Nanli, Zhuang Muyan couldn’t help but curl his lips.
So she likes sweets as well.
"Does it taste good?" he asked on purpose.
"Delicious." Chu Nanli nodded her head.
Getting the affirmative answer, honey seemed to spread through Zhuang Muyan’s heart, his lips curving deeply upward.
This scene was just witnessed by Ye Yunting.
Ye Yunting had been about to enter the courtyard when Empress Yang Shu and Lin Fuying tried their best to stop him, fearing he would get infected.
He had a guard fetch a face mask and brought Bai Wuheng with him, just in case Chu Nanli caused trouble.
He never expected to see her and Zhuang Muyan in the midst of what appeared to be an intimate exchange.
"Chu Nanli!"
The familiar voice made Chu Nanli freeze in her action, and then her brows furrowed slightly; she looked up to see the man with the ice-cold face.
"Ye Yunting? What are you doing here?"
Ye Yunting wore a face mask, but the iciness in his eyes couldn’t be concealed, "Is this how you treat the Jade Consort?"
His gaze fixed upon the sweet treat in her hand, thinking that Zhuang Muyan had given it to her, a flicker of anger crossed his eyes.
Are you so greedy? Will you put in your mouth something given by another man?
A bit puzzled, Chu Nanli glared at Ye Yunting, "I’ve just spent nearly two hours treating the Jade Consort and am about to faint from hunger. What’s wrong with eating something?"
Ye Yunting was taken aback.
"Alright, I’m going to check on the Jade Consort’s condition first." Bai Wuheng knew that these two would argue upon meeting, but he had no desire to intervene.
Human life is of utmost importance; he needed to confirm the Jade Consort’s condition.
Chu Nanli watched as Bai Wuheng walked towards the Jade Consort, her eyes showing slight displeasure.
It must have been Ye Yunting who brought people here because he didn’t trust her medical skills.
She also didn’t like the feeling of being doubted repeatedly.
Zhuang Muyan naturally noticed Chu Nanli’s displeasure.
"What, Imperial Physician Zhuang doesn’t trust my master?"
Bai Wuheng glanced at him but didn’t reply.
He approached the Jade Consort, first checking her temperature, then felt her pulse.
His expression changed from seriousness to relief.
"How is she?" Zhuang Muyan asked with a lifted brow.
"Her pulse is stable, she is safe now," Bai Wuheng stated flatly.
"No need to tell me that, my master already said she could be cured. Some people just don’t believe it." Zhuang Muyan said loudly, his tone quite proud.
The corners of Chu Nanli’s mouth quirked slightly, she had always thought Zhuang Muyan was genteel, never expecting him to have such a side.
Ye Yunting’s face darkened further upon hearing Zhuang Muyan speak up for Chu Nanli.
"Master, continue eating, I will send someone to report to the Emperor." Zhuang Muyan ignored Ye Yunting; he really didn’t have a good impression of Ye Yunting.
Chu Nanli nodded her head.
Once Zhuang Muyan left, Chu Nanli continued to stuff a piece of pastry into her mouth, regardless of Ye Yunting’s fuming gaze.
"Has the War King Residence starved you?" Ye Yunting asked coldly.
Chu Nanli ignored him, but her mood was ruined by him, and after hastily eating a few bites, she left the room.
While Bai Wuheng was still checking the Jade Consort’s pulse, thinking to confirm everything was correct, he saw Chu Nanli intending to leave and said, "Wait."
"What is it?" Chu Nanli turned back and asked.
"The disease the Jade Consort has, is it truly smallpox?" Bai Wuheng inquired coldly, skepticism in his eyes.
"Of course." Chu Nanli replied.
"Smallpox is an ancient scourge; how could you cure it so easily? Moreover, even if cured, the patient’s skin shouldn’t be without red spots in such a short time." Bai Wuheng’s expression was serious, and there was a hint of scorn for Chu Nanli in his demeanor.
"Chu Nanli, are you exaggerating the patient’s condition for some merit? Do you realize this could cause panic?" Bai Wuheng’s face was full of icy disdain.
Ye Yunting’s expression darkened, his gaze also turning questioning towards Chu Nanli.
