Chapter 152 - 153: Will There Be Poisoning?
Chapter 152: Chapter 153: Will There Be Poisoning?
Lin Fuying perfunctorily finished concocting Chu Nanli’s medicine and then personally delivered it.
Upon reaching the door, she was stopped.
"Just leave the medicine here; our Princess Consort has already retired to rest," Yanyan watched her warily and said.
She knew Lin Fuying surely harbored no good intentions.
Lin Fuying felt somewhat annoyed. Just a servant, a dog of the Prince Residence, dared to stop her!
However, she did not express her anger; she was here to show "concern" for Chu Nanli, not to start a quarrel.
Lin Fuying put on a face of grievance, shedding tears as if wronged, "I kindly brought the medicine, but my sister does not wish to see me. Since that’s the case, I won’t bother any further."
Saying so, she put down the medicine bowl and left with a look of injustice.
Yanyan glanced at her, thinking to herself that she really knew how to act.
Carrying the medicine, she entered the room and handed it to Chu Nanli, "Princess Consort, this is the medicine from Concubine Lin. Do you think she could have poisoned it?"
Chu Nanli took the medicine and smelled it, then drank it down.
Yanyan was shocked and exclaimed, "Princess Consort!"
Chu Nanli smiled, "It’s fine. It’s a good medicine for regulating qi and blood. Even if Lin Fuying means to harm me, she would not do it so directly."
Only then did Yanyan breathe a sigh of relief, but soon after, she furrowed her brow again.
"I didn’t let Concubine Lin in just now. I guess she will hold a grudge and go complain to the Prince."
Yanyan felt somewhat regretful. She shouldn’t have stopped Lin Fuying so directly; this action might bring more trouble to the Princess Consort.
"It doesn’t matter." Chu Nanli paused, "Tell everyone that I need to recuperate for the next few days, and I will not see anyone."
Chu Nanli thought that it would be a good opportunity to treat Ye Jiuxiao during these few days.
Zijin also needed to be found and returned to Ye Jiuxiao soon.
But such medicinal herbs were truly rare; they couldn’t be found overnight, so she needed to stabilize Ye Jiuxiao’s condition as quickly as possible.
That night, Chu Nanli changed into her night clothes and hurried to Ye Jiuxiao’s residence.
Ye Jiuxiao had already instructed his guards, so Chu Nanli faced no obstacles on her way through his residence.
When she reached the outside of Ye Jiuxiao’s resting chamber, Chu Nanli was about to knock but sensed that something was amiss inside and pushed the door open at once.
She hastily walked over and saw Ye Jiuxiao weakly leaning beside a chair, his eyes closed in pain, his face deathly pale, and his body enveloped by a chilling aura.
This was an outbreak of Cold Poison.
She quickly helped him to the bed, ready to administer acupuncture, when a cold sword light streaked toward her.
Chu Nanli dodged swiftly, seeing that the attacker was wearing the Prince Residence’s token, seemingly one of Ye Jiuxiao’s subordinates.
"Are you a guard of Jiuxiao’s residence?" she asked.
The person remained silent.
"If you don’t want your master to die, stop causing trouble," Chu Nanli frowned, yet did not stop her acupuncture.
Seeing Chu Nanli’s serious demeanor, the guard sheathed his sword and stopped interrupting.
He knew how much his master valued Chu Nanli.
If he were awake, he would definitely have allowed Chu Nanli to administer the acupuncture.
After Chu Nanli finished with the acupuncture, she realized she had run out of detox pills and quickly wrote a prescription.
"Use this prescription to prepare the medicine for your master; one dose is to be drunk, and another is for a medicinal bath," Chu Nanli instructed the guard.
The guard paused, his face cold as he took the prescription and left.
He dared not administer medicine to the Prince without authorization, so he first handed the prescription to Doctor Lin.
After examining the prescription, Doctor Lin’s eyes showed no disturbance, "Is this opened by that War Princess Consort, who claims to be a disciple of the Divine Doctor Liuli?"
"Yes."
The guard nodded indifferently.
"Is there any issue with the prescription?"
"There’s no issue with it, but also nothing exceptional; it’s just a palliative recipe," Doctor Lin sighed in disappointment, "Alas, just prepare the medicine according to this. Even a little relief is better than none."
The guard nodded and left.
Doctor Lin sighed once again.
For the sake of a woman, losing a life-saving Zijin, the Prince is being foolish.
Worried about the Prince, he quickly got dressed and hurried over.
