Chapter 135: Chapter 136 Cheap Disciple Visits

The next morning, Chu Nanli was half-awake, listening vaguely to the sound of Yanyan speaking with someone outside the room.

"The master is still resting, so would it be all right for Imperial Physician Zhuang to sit in the courtyard for a while?"

"Yes, it is also Zhuang’s lack of propriety for not sending a letter in advance and coming to visit the teacher unannounced."

A cheap apprentice?

Chu Nanli, groggy, recognized the voice as Zhuang Muyan’s and woke from her dream.

The room was already prepared with water for washing up and dental tools; Chu Nanli donned her outer garment, cleaned herself up, simply swept her hair back into a bun at the back of her head, and then opened the door to step out.

Yanyan was not in the courtyard, having gone to pour tea for Zhuang Muyan.

Upon hearing the door open, Zhuang Muyan looked up, his expression briefly stunned.

The woman pushed open the door and walked into the corridor; the extremely gentle morning sunlight filtered through the tree shadows of the corridor and fell upon her, warming her light green dress, which was tender and affectionate. As she moved, the light and shadows danced across her exquisite and coolly beautiful face, making her look like a Fairy Consort who had descended to the world of mortals.

Zhuang Muyan couldn’t help but be mesmerized.

Only when Chu Nanli almost reached him did he snap back to reality.

Instantly, his baby face turned bright red.

"Is it very hot?" Chu Nanli asked, puzzled.

Zhuang Muyan’s face grew even redder, and he stood up in awkwardness, stuttering and unable to find an excuse.

Fortunately, at that moment, Yanyan came with the tea, inadvertently breaking the silence for him.

"Master, you’re awake already."

"Mm, I just woke up," Chu Nanli responded. "I heard you two talking and came out to see."

She didn’t want Yanyan to feel guilty about possibly having woken her up, so she didn’t tell the whole truth.

Yanyan hastily said, "After I pour the tea, I’ll go to the small kitchen to have them prepare breakfast."

With that said, she turned to Zhuang Muyan, "Imperial Physician Zhuang, have you had your breakfast yet?"

Zhuang Muyan replied subconsciously, "I have."

However, no sooner had he said this than his stomach began to rumble loudly.

There was a moment of silence in the air.

Zhuang Muyan’s body stiffened.

Chu Nanli struggled to hold back her laughter.

Yanyan broke the awkwardness while stifling her laughter.

"I will ask the kitchen to prepare breakfast for two."

Once Yanyan had left, Zhuang Muyan awkwardly said, "Teacher, you must be laughing at me. I really didn’t have breakfast this morning; I lied because I didn’t want to bother you."

Chu Nanli couldn’t help but be amused.

This little Imperial Physician was indeed sincere.

Though easy to deceive, he was like Luo Shuye in being highly adept at distinguishing the likes of Lin Fuying, who was as green as tea.

"Please sit down, no need to be so formal," Chu Nanli said, and then took a seat opposite him.

"I see dark circles under your eyes. Have you not been resting well these past few days?"

The baby-faced Imperial Physician sitting before her had severe dark circles and bloodshot eyes, but he seemed quite spirited nonetheless.

Based on his appearance, it seemed like he merely lacked sleep and hadn’t gone through any particularly distressing events.

Therefore, Chu Nanli was not overly concerned.

Zhuang Muyan scratched his head, somewhat embarrassed, "The letter you gave me was so useful. There was much in the books that I couldn’t understand, but after reading your notes, everything became clear. I was so engrossed that I couldn’t think of resting."

Upon hearing this, Chu Nanli raised an eyebrow and asked, "Should I quiz you on a few points then?"

At her words, Zhuang Muyan immediately straightened his posture.

Meanwhile, at the palace, in the chambers of Consort Yang Shu.

After attending the morning court session, Ye Yunting was summoned away by a eunuch from Consort Yang Shu’s palace, saying that the consort had matters to discuss with him.

Having no pressing matters, he followed the eunuch to Consort Yang Shu’s palace.

"Mother Consort, what matter did you call for me to attend to?" Ye Yunting inquired.

Consort Yang Shu passed him a cup of hot tea, saying, "Yesterday, Yingying came to visit me and we had a heart-to-heart talk."

As she spoke, a pair of deep-set eyes fixed upon Ye Yunting.
