Chapter 120: Don’t Try to Seduce Men

Chapter 120: Chapter 120: Don’t Try to Seduce Men

By the time Chu Nanli returned to the War God Residence, it was deep into the night.

Just as she disembarked from the carriage, a chill breeze made her sneeze.

She cursed Ye Yunting once more.

Pah! Dog of a man!

If it hadn’t been for being stood up, she wouldn’t have ended up waiting for the carriage at the palace gates until she caught a chill.

Her body was frail to begin with, easily discomforted by exposure to the wind.

"What are you standing around for? Why don’t you go inside?"

A cold voice suddenly rose from beside her.

Chu Nanli jumped in fright, turning her head to see Ye Yunting walking out from inside the residence.

Looking at that unperturbed face and hearing his accusatory tone, Chu Nanli’s anger flared instantly.

"Of course, I’m just making sure that there’s still a place for me in this residence."

Ye Yunting furrowed his brows and stopped in front of her, "What nonsense are you speaking now?"

Chu Nanli retorted mockingly, "Didn’t the Prince say he was waiting for me half an hour ago? I took him at his word, but when I left the palace, there was no carriage in sight. Although I managed to get back here, I couldn’t help but worry that the Prince had perhaps driven me out of the residence."

The guards, palace maids, and eunuchs next to the carriage all bowed their heads, hiding their inner shock.

Princess Consort Chu was really too bold.

Ye Yunting’s face turned dark.

Under his piercing gaze, Chu Nanli always felt that he might strangle her in the next moment.

Immediately, she stepped to the side and said, "If there’s still a place for me in this residence, then I’ll retire to Chuxiang Garden to rest."

"It was an unexpected incident, and Yingying felt unwell. After Wuhen diagnosed Yingying’s pulse, he advised me to take her back to the residence early."

Chu Nanli hadn’t expected him to explain, but this explanation only made her feel more disgusted.

She challenged him, "What about Bai Wuheng then? Where was his carriage? Surely he didn’t walk to the palace, did he?"

"His carriage broke down."

Chu Nanli: "..."

Regardless of whether Bai Wuheng’s carriage truly broke down or not, she had no interest in blowing in the cold wind at the door any longer.

Right away, she said, "I will head back first."

Ye Yunting instinctively reached out to stop her, but upon realizing what he was doing, his brow tightened.

Chu Nanli, displeased: "Does the Prince have anything else?"

Under the dark veil of night, the woman’s features seemed even colder yet more enchanting.

Ye Yunting’s mind conjured images of her composed and unflustered rescue earlier that day, his heart feeling like it skipped a beat.

But in the blink of an eye, the scene of Chu Nanli and Ye Jiuxiao entering the hall together forcefully intruded his thoughts.

Ye Yunting looked toward the guards and others in the palace, ordering, "You may hand over the items to the people of the War God Residence."

The attendants understood implicitly that the War God did not want them to continue eavesdropping on the gossip.

"Yes."

Once the items were handed over, the carriage left.

Chu Nanli frowned and couldn’t help but say, "You’re not going to take all the gifts awarded to me by the Empress and give them to Lin Fuying, are you?"

Ye Yunting gave her a cold glance before instructing the servants.

"Send them to Chuxiang Garden."

"Yes."

Only then did Chu Nanli breathe a sigh of relief.

Soon after, she heard Ye Yunting’s warning voice ringing out before her.

"Being skilled in medicine is good, but do not flaunt it, and certainly do not think to attract attention and charm men with it."

Chu Nanli’s face darkened as she cooled down, her gaze sharp as she looked directly at Ye Yunting.

"I know what I should be doing. Thank you for your concern, Prince, to especially block the entrance of the Prince Residence late at night just to teach me a lesson on behavior."

Ye Yunting felt his irritation rise, his tone grew more impatient, "You better remember how absurd you’ve been before. If you cause trouble again, I will not show mercy next time!"

Having said this, he turned and swept away.

Chu Nanli stood there, chest tight with anger.
