Chapter 117: The Raikage’s Attack
Chapter 117: Chapter 117: The Raikage’s Attack
News of the Uchiha clan capturing the Two-Tails Jinchuriki alive quickly made its way back to Konoha—and, unsurprisingly, also reached the ears of Danzo Shimura.
"Fugaku did an excellent job," Sarutobi Hiruzen said with satisfaction. "This takes a lot of pressure off us. With a feat like this, the other villages won’t dare look down on us."
Although the Uchiha didn’t hold much political power in the village, Hiruzen appreciated that Fugaku still stood up when it truly mattered.
Koharu Utatane, however, wasn’t nearly as pleased. She eyed Hiruzen critically and said, "You’re too short-sighted, Sarutobi. Sure, the Uchiha achieved something big, but how does it reflect on your authority? And don’t forget, capturing the Two-Tails doesn’t mean we’re in the clear—there are still the other Kage and the Eight-Tails. Piss off Kumogakure enough, and we could be facing another Shinobi World War."
Hiruzen fell silent, exasperated by Koharu’s cynicism. Lately, he often felt the weight of age creeping in, dulling his patience. But his old comrades were even worse—clinging to old fears and doubts even in moments of success.
---
Meanwhile, at a secret ROOT base on the Land of Fire’s border, a different atmosphere reigned.
Bang!
Danzo slammed his fist into the table, his one visible eye burning with rage. If there was anything Danzo despised more than failure, it was the Uchiha.
News of their triumphant capture of the Two-Tails stoked the flames of his resentment.
Damn Uchiha...
The more a man lacks, the more he envies. Danzo had been a prodigy in his youth, but even then, he had been eclipsed by the natural might of the Uchiha bloodline. As he aged, his obsession with the Hokage seat only intensified, and the Uchiha became the ever-growing thorn in his side.
"Kagami... so what if you were more talented? So what if you had Uchiha Xiuyu guiding you? You died, and I lived. That’s all that matters. Even Hashirama Senju’s rotting in a coffin now. Strength is surviving."
Danzo reached up and gently touched the socket of his eye—the one containing Shisui’s stolen Mangekyō.
"Hmph... Fugaku, don’t blame me for being ruthless."
He turned sharply toward one of his subordinates.
"A. Leak the Uchiha’s temporary base location to Kumogakure. The Fourth Raikage won’t hesitate."
"Yes, sir."
Danzo murmured to himself, "If they both suffer heavy losses... all the better."
But what he didn’t know was that a pair of unseen eyes was watching from nearby in the shadows.
---
True to Danzo’s prediction, the Raikage moved swiftly.
The Fourth Raikage wasted no time after receiving the intel. He personally led a squad of elite shinobi and launched a direct assault on the Uchiha’s temporary outpost.
Boom!
His punch crashed into the barrier surrounding the camp—a defense created using sealing techniques borrowed from the Uzumaki clan. Though not particularly strong, the barrier served its purpose: an early-warning system.
"Enemy attack!" someone yelled.
The alarm spread like wildfire, and within seconds, the entire Uchiha force inside the barrier was on high alert.
Fugaku appeared at the front, flanked by Shisui and several elite clan members.
"Well, if it isn’t the Raikage," Fugaku said, expression calm. "Have you figured out how to negotiate for the return of your Jinchuriki?"
"Cut the crap," the Raikage growled. "Hand over Yugito Nii and Omoi. Compensate Kumogakure for the damage you’ve caused—or Konoha can prepare for all-out war!"
The Raikage’s bark might’ve worked on Hiruzen, but Fugaku was made of sterner stuff.
"You must be confused," Fugaku said coldly. "We’re Uchiha, not Sarutobi Hiruzen. If you want war, then come get it. Konoha was founded by both the Senju and the Uchiha. If you think you can use the village’s name to pressure us, you’re delusional."
The Raikage’s eyes narrowed. When words failed, fists did the talking.
"Then let’s see if the Uchiha can survive my wrath!"
Lightning exploded from his body as he vanished from view, charging headfirst into battle.
"Uchiha Style—Sword of Flames!"
Shisui intercepted the Raikage’s charge, his blade slicing through the air. Though it didn’t break through the Raikage’s armor, the impact forced Shisui back several steps. The flames dancing on the sword were slapped away effortlessly.
"Hmph. Not bad for body flicker," Raikage grunted. "You must be Shisui. But you’re slower than the Fourth Hokage."
He sounded almost... relieved.
Minato Namikaze had once gone toe-to-toe with both the Raikage and Killer Bee—and won. The man’s death in the Nine-Tails Rebellion had been a blessing for Kumogakure.
If Shisui was the best Konoha had now, then the Raikage liked his chances.
"Yo, Big Bro!" a loud voice called. "I’ll handle Fugaku!"
Killer Bee dropped into the battlefield with swagger and blades in hand.
The Uchiha and Kumogakure troops instinctively spread out, giving space for the upcoming duels.
"I’ve always heard the Uchiha are Konoha’s strongest clan," the Raikage shouted. "Time to find out if the rumors are true!"
He vanished again—only to reappear in front of Shisui, launching a brutal punch. Shisui barely managed to block it.
"Susanoo!"
Emerald ribs and a single arm formed around Shisui, glowing with his chakra. He didn’t go for a full form—he had to conserve energy. This fight wasn’t ending anytime soon.
Across the battlefield, Fugaku and Killer Bee clashed in a dazzling display of swordsmanship. Bee’s unorthodox, multi-blade style was unpredictable, but Fugaku’s experience gave him the edge. Fire Release clashed with Lightning Release, neither side able to gain a solid advantage.
"Chidōkaku: Thunderclap Blade!" the Raikage roared, slamming a lightning-coated hand into Shisui’s Susanoo. Cracks spiderwebbed through the ribs of chakra.
"Let’s see how long you can hide inside that turtle shell!"
The Raikage exploded with chakra, hammering the Susanoo relentlessly. The emerald ribs groaned under the pressure, but held—sustained by Shisui’s steady chakra control.
Seizing a rare opening, Shisui activated an illusion technique.
"Genjutsu—Crow Storm!"
Dozens of crows swirled around the Raikage—and in an instant, he collapsed.
"Big bro!" Killer Bee yelled. Despite his injuries, he bolted toward his brother, tentacles from the Eight-Tails emerging just in time to shield the Raikage from Shisui’s follow-up strike.
Lightning chakra erupted once again from the Raikage as he pushed himself up, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth.
"I’m okay, Bee. Just got hit by a genjutsu. If you hadn’t backed me up when you did..." He didn’t finish the sentence, but the implication was clear.
Without Bee, he might’ve died right then and there.
---------------------
"You did well, Shisui," Fugaku praised, eyes sharp as he assessed the battlefield. "Although it seems the Raikage didn’t take much damage."
Shisui nodded, his breath steady. "It’s a pity... the illusion didn’t last long."
Across from them, the Raikage’s expression had completely changed. The arrogance in his eyes was gone, replaced by unease and fear. He had clearly underestimated Shisui. So this is the true power of Shisui’s genjutsu... It far exceeds the rumors. I was fooled by that nickname.
"Brother, we need to go all out," Killer Bee said, his tone serious for once. "If we don’t end this quickly, things are gonna get real bad."
"Understood." The Raikage’s body surged with Lightning Chakra as he extended three fingers forward.
At the same time, red chakra erupted from Killer Bee’s body. "Yo, Gyuki! It’s time to get serious!"
"Be careful, Bee. We’re up against an Uchiha—he can use Susanoo. Don’t underestimate him!"
"Yeah, yeah!" Killer Bee struck a ridiculous pose, rapping in his usual cringe-worthy style. Both Fugaku and Shisui cringed inwardly.
"What the hell is this guy doing...?" Fugaku muttered.
Then, Killer Bee roared, "Eight-Tails, let’s go!" and instantly transformed into the massive beast.
Fugaku narrowed his eyes. "Looks like they’re finally taking us seriously. Shisui, it’s time."
"Summoning Technique! Susanoo—!"
Both Fugaku and Shisui summoned their Susanoo. Shisui clenched his jaw as he activated the second stage with his one Mangekyō eye. It took a toll on him, but he endured it.
Two colossal beasts—Kaijumon—emerged beside the Susanoo warriors, one green and one blue. Without hesitation, the two Uchiha targeted the Eight-Tails first. It was the biggest threat. As for the Raikage, they would just let Susanoo take the brunt of his attacks. Unless he could break through the defense quickly, he wouldn’t be much of a problem.
"Dammit!" Raikage growled. His strikes couldn’t penetrate Susanoo at all. It felt like he was just circling two damn walking fortresses. Unlike his father, the legendary Third Raikage, his raw strength wasn’t enough to overwhelm such a sturdy defense.
Meanwhile, the Eight-Tails was taking a beating. He roared in frustration. "B, we won’t last long like this! Two Susanoo, two monsters? If we don’t come up with something fast, we’re dead meat!"
The Eight-Tails was bruised and battered—he hadn’t taken a beating this bad since the Third Raikage. And worst of all? This was a team fight. He couldn’t even retreat.
Despite his immense power, his attacks had little effect on the Kaiju. Their thick hide and endurance made them nearly invulnerable to his brute force.
"Ugh!" Both Kaiju spewed acid, and a stream of blue liquid splashed across the Eight-Tails’ body, searing his skin and making him tremble in agony.
"Tailed Beast Spin!" The Eight-Tails spun his massive tentacles, flinging off most of the corrosive acid. The ground around him hissed as white smoke rose from the scorched earth.
When he finally stopped spinning, the battlefield was in chaos. His skin was pitted and scorched, and his strength was clearly fading.
"B, we’re screwed. These summons are freakin’ tanks. And there’re two damn Susanoo staring us down. If their forms were complete, we’d already be dead."
"Gyūki, you’ve seen Susanoo before?"
"I have. These Uchiha punks are the descendants of the Sage of Six Paths. Once their Sharingan hits a certain power level, Susanoo becomes a goddamn nightmare. You’re still underestimating them."
"Gyūki, then it’s gotta be the Tailed Beast Ball! We’ve got no choice!"
"Tell your brother to stall them! I need time to charge it!"
"Bro! Cover me! I’m about to go big with Gyūki!"
Raikage’s eyes sharpened. Without hesitation, he surged forward with blinding speed. Lightning cloaked his body, and he went all in. "I’ll buy you the time!"
"Damn it," Fugaku cursed. "Shisui! He’s prepping a Tailed Beast Ball! We’re outta time—listen to me! We need to redirect it, now!"
As the Tailed Beast Ball shot toward them like a meteor, Fugaku’s Susanoo raised a massive shield. Shisui responded instantly, and together, they deflected the ball straight into the sky.
"Now! Dismiss Susanoo and redeploy it—inside Kaiju’s mouth! We tank the blast that way!"
Shisui understood immediately. It was a rare Uchiha formation—recorded in clan archives and inspired by Su Xiuyu’s earlier battles. A low-budget version of "Beast Difficulty."
The Tailed Beast Ball exploded in the sky, turning everything white with searing flames. When the smoke cleared, the Kaiju-Susanoo armor had taken damage, but the beasts inside were fine.
"Grab the Eight-Tails!" With chakra flowing from both Fugaku and Shisui, their Susanoo recovered rapidly, and the two Uchiha launched an all-out assault with their Kaiju.
"Bee, give it up! Your body’s at the limit!" Fugaku called out. "If you keep this up, you’ll die!"
The Tailed Beast Mode put immense strain on the Jinchūriki, and the Eight-Tails had burned through massive chakra. Even if Gyūki could continue, Killer Bee couldn’t.
"Gyūki... I’m sorry. I held you back," Bee whispered, fading into unconsciousness.
The Eight-Tails’ form dissipated, and Killer Bee collapsed to the ground. Fugaku caught him with a sealing jutsu, securing the capture.
The Raikage arrived a moment too late. He clenched his fists but didn’t make a move.
"We’ve won, Raikage," Fugaku declared.
Killer Bee was captured. The Two-Tails and Eight-Tails were both in Uchiha hands. The Raikage could do nothing now.
"...Hmph. Fine. You win," the Raikage growled, barely restraining his fury. "What do you want?"
"We’ll discuss the terms in Konoha," Fugaku replied coolly. "This battlefield isn’t the place."
He sealed Killer Bee in front of the Raikage, who was so furious his teeth practically cracked.
"Killer Bee is my brother. And Yugito Nii are princesses of our village. If they’re harmed in any way before negotiations, I swear—it’s war. Do you understand me?"
Even in defeat, the Raikage was firm. He had to be. If Konoha decided to kill the hosts or keep the Tailed Beasts, Kumogakure would be finished.
"No need for threats," Fugaku said calmly. "Neither the Uchiha nor Konoha are particularly interested in your Tailed Beasts. But let’s be real, Raikage—even if you had two of them, do you really think you could defeat the Uchiha?"
The Raikage gnashed his teeth, but deep down, he knew Fugaku was right. If it weren’t for his speed, Fugaku and Shisui could’ve ended him right there.
And now, after falling victim to Shisui’s genjutsu, he didn’t even dare make direct eye contact with either of them.
"...We’ll meet again," he spat. Activating his Lightning Cloak, he vanished into the distance.
"It’s finally over," Shisui muttered as he deactivated Susanoo. The battle had taken its toll, but in the end, the Uchiha stood victorious—again.
