Chapter 95 - 95 93 Little Fish Accompanies You

Chapter 95: Chapter 93 Little Fish Accompanies You Chapter 95: Chapter 93 Little Fish Accompanies You Lu Jingyan stared at the tissue in front of him for a moment, extended his hand, pulled a sheet from the box, and wiped his fingers clean.

Gao Yin watched as her two offered pieces were disregarded, her gaze turning cold.

Lu Jingyan tossed the tissue into the trash bin and turned to walk away.

As he walked past Gao Yin, she suddenly moved aside two steps to block the door, “Sheng Xian will never have a girlfriend.”

Lu Jingyan was forced to stop.

“Sheng Xian really dislikes girls, dislikes them to the point that he won’t like any of them. I suggest you give up while you can still save some face.”

Lu Jingyan felt a sudden urge to laugh.

Jealousy was jealousy, why did they have to pretend as if it was for her own good.

Lu Jingyan originally didn’t want to engage with her, but now he was actually amused. He raised an eyebrow, “Have you pursued Sheng Xian before?”

“…”

“And Sheng Xian rejected you?”

“…”

“Did he not leave you any dignity when he rejected you?”

“…”

Gao Yin’s face grew unpleasant under the barrage of Lu Jingyan’s questions.

Lu Jingyan lowered his gaze and chuckled softly, with a hint of scorn, “You think I am like you?”

Gao Yin pursed her lips, clearly struggling to maintain her composure.

Lu Jingyan, not wanting to argue any further, pushed her aside and reached for the door.

Gao Yin suddenly asked, “Do you like him then?”

Lu Jingyan’s hand on the door handle paused.

Gao Yin asked again, “Do you like Sheng Xian?”

Lu Jingyan stared at his hand, slightly bewildered.

If someone asked her what she liked about Sheng Xian, she could answer smoothly and without hesitation.

She liked Sheng Xian’s appearance, liked his hands, liked when he pretended to be serious.

But when the question “What do you like about Sheng Xian” changed from “what” to “whether,” she was strangely at a loss.

Lu Jingyan still hadn’t found an answer when Gao Yin spoke up again, “You like Sheng Xian, right? A man like him, no one could dislike. Just for the most superficial reason, his good looks alone are enough to drive plenty of women crazy.”

Lu Jingyan wanted to argue, but found she couldn’t.

Sheng Xian was indeed very handsome.

That was the reason she noticed him in the first place.

But did noticing him mean she liked him?

Lu Jingyan, her head aching from these messy thoughts and not really wanting to think about it, opened the door.

As she was about to leave, Gao Yin chuckled softly from the side and leaned against the wall, “You think you are not me, right?”

“The underlying implication is that I’m not as good as you, huh? That I was quite clumsy chasing Sheng Xian, so why don’t you have a try?”

“See if you end up looking foolish.”

Lu Jingyan looked back at Gao Yin.

Gao Yin shrugged her shoulders with a somewhat creepy smile, “Good luck.”

Lu Jingyan didn’t stay in the private room much longer before the gathering dispersed.

More than half of the people were drunk and were being taken to cars by the other sober half.

Lu Jingyan went to get her car. Sheng Xian had finished escorting the drunken Zhuang Chen and was heading to the restroom while messaging Lu Jingyan with one hand, telling her where he was.

The restrooms on the first floor had a shared sink area for both sexes.

After coming out, Sheng Xian turned on the tap, washed his hands, and when reaching for a paper towel, noticed a figure behind him.

Gao Yin was still there, arms crossed, sizing him up, “Even more handsome than during our university days.”

Sheng Xian disposed of the paper towel, stood up straight, and indifferently responded, as if he hadn’t heard her, “It’s late, you should head back.”

Gao Yin blocked his path, “I didn’t want to attend any class reunion. I flew here from Shanghai especially for you.”

Sheng Xian walked past her and headed outside.

Gao Yin grabbed Sheng Xian’s arm, “All these years have passed, and I still can’t forget you, Sheng Xian. Back in university, everyone said we were a good match, and I still think so today.”

“Gao Yin.” He moved his arm, trying to pull away from her grasp.

Gao Yin held on even tighter, not giving Sheng Xian a chance to speak, and hurriedly uttered, “My flight is tomorrow afternoon, Sheng Xian, spend tonight with me.”

Everyone involved is an adult; the hidden meaning behind those words was clear to all.

Sheng Xian truly wished he was oblivious to it.

He closed his eyes, striving to suppress the nausea rising from the depths of his stomach.

He didn’t want to hurt anyone.

Even though he didn’t like her, he didn’t want to trample on her feelings.

“Sheng Xian, I really like you a lot. Be with me, even if it’s just for tonight…”

Sheng Xian recoiled as if electrocuted, violently shaking off Gao Yin.

He pushed with such force that Gao Yin stumbled several steps backwards and his back hit the wall.

Gao Yin stood in disbelief for two seconds, his eyes reddening: “Do I really disgust you that much? What on earth did I do to make you hate me? I truly like you. Is there something wrong with that? I…”

Sheng Xian turned around and vomited into the sink.

Gao Yin halted the words at his lips, but ultimately couldn’t hold back, tears streaming down in two lines: “How can someone like you even exist in this world?”

Wiping away his tears, the more Gao Yin thought, the more unwilling he felt. Before leaving, he turned back and spitefully threw out one more line: “Does trampling on someone’s feelings really make you feel good? Sheng Xian, you’re truly disgusting.”

Lu Jingyan drove to the restaurant entrance and waited a while, but seeing that Sheng Xian hadn’t come out, she took out her phone and gave him a call.

No answer.

He couldn’t possibly have fallen into the toilet, could he?

Lu Jingyan frowned slightly, got out of the car, handed the car keys to the security guard at the restaurant entrance, and headed towards the first-floor bathroom.

Before reaching the bathroom door, Lu Jingyan heard vomiting sounds amidst the noise of running water.

Seeing that it was Sheng Xian, she hurried over: “What’s wrong? Why are you throwing up like this?”

Sheng Xian didn’t speak.

“Did you drink too much? Here are the pills I brought, take two.”

Lu Jingyan remembered the medicine was in Sheng Xian’s pocket and reached out to search for it, but Sheng Xian grabbed her arm: “It’s nothing.”

His voice was very weak, each word trembling.

Only then did Lu Jingyan notice that Sheng Xian was deathly pale, his whole body trembling. He continued to heave despite his empty stomach, his other hand white-knuckled on the edge of the sink.

Lu Jingyan’s lips moved, about to speak, when Sheng Xian interjected with his head down: “Don’t talk.”

The grip he had on her arm was strong, the pressure causing her to start feeling a dull pain.

Yet his voice sounded so pitiful.

“It’ll pass in a moment.”

Lu Jingyan opened her mouth, but somehow managed to keep silent, though her arm ached.

After a short wait, Sheng Xian gradually calmed down little by little.

He turned his head to glance at Lu Jingyan beside him. After a few seconds, he slowly released her arm, scooped up some cold water, and rinsed his face: “Let’s go.”

Lu Jingyan watched as Sheng Xian instantly reverted to his usual demeanor and nodded slightly, following him out of the restaurant.

Since Sheng Xian had been drinking, Lu Jingyan drove the car.

The car was very quiet.

Sheng Xian leaned against the seat back, staring out of the window, motionless.

For some reason, seeing him like this made Lu Jingyan feel a pang of heartache.

When they arrived at the entrance of the complex, Sheng Xian unbuckled his seatbelt: “I’m going in. Send me a message when you get home.”

Lu Jingyan hummed an acknowledgment, looking at Sheng Xian’s still somewhat pale face, she couldn’t help but ask, “Are you okay?”

Sheng Xian was taken aback momentarily before responding normally: “What could be wrong with me?”

Lu Jingyan nodded: “As long as you’re fine, then go on in.”

“Okay.” Sheng Xian closed the door.

He stood by the roadside, not moving, and Lu Jingyan knew he was waiting for her to leave. After two seconds, she stepped on the accelerator.

Through the rearview mirror, she saw him watch her car for a short while before adjusting his coat collar and heading into the complex.

Driving to the upcoming intersection, Lu Jingyan suddenly slammed on the brakes and made a U-turn.

Sheng Xian had told her the passcode for his apartment elevator.

Lu Jingyan drove to the underground parking lot and went straight upstairs.

Arriving at Sheng Xian’s door, she raised her hand and pressed the doorbell twice.

Sheng Xian had probably just arrived home and was still in the living room, so the door was quickly opened.

Seeing Lu Jingyan, he clearly was taken aback: “Why did you come over?”

Lu Jingyan dodged the question: “Even though I don’t know what happened, I felt like you just then seemed more like a three-year-old than I do.”

She didn’t know why he had acted that way.

But she had experienced similar situations, like when she received garbled messages and would shake and feel scared like that.

Vulnerable, helpless, struggling, desperately needing someone to pull them out of that darkness and despair.

Sheng Xian was completely stunned by her words.

Lu Jingyan was tall, but without heels, she still appeared quite shorter than Sheng Xian. She raised her hand, found it a bit difficult, and then said, “Lower your head a bit.”

After a few seconds of silence, Sheng Xian lowered his head.

Lu Jingyan lifted her hand and gently touched his hair: “Don’t be afraid, three-year-old. Little Fish is here with you.”
