Ms.CEO Falls in Love with Aloof Professor
Chapter 93 - 93 91 She Misses Him

Chapter 93: Chapter 91: She Misses Him Chapter 93: Chapter 91: She Misses Him …

The latter half of January was exam season in colleges, Sheng Xian was very busy during that period. Every day, he was either preparing lessons or setting exam questions, he hadn’t even stepped foot into the law firm he started with two other friends.

In comparison, Lu Jingyan was relatively free during this period.

With Sheng Xian tied up, Lu Jingyan could only chat with him on WeChat.

Most of the time, she sent several messages, and it took a long time to receive a single reply from him.

Sometimes that reply was just a string of concise ellipses.

It wasn’t that Sheng Xian was brushing her off, it was mainly because the timing of Lu Jingyan’s messages often made it impossible for him to respond.

It was either “Brother, my period just ended, should we meet up?” or “Brother, did you take good care of the underwear I left at your place?”

Occasionally, there would be a seemingly normal message from her, but after chatting for a bit, the outcome was the same.

Sometimes, when Lu Jingyan’s teasing was too much, Sheng Xian could ignore her for an entire day.

Take that time, for instance, Sheng Xian woke up early one morning and after being stunned for a moment at her message “Brother, good morning,” he chuckled and replied with one hand on his phone, “Good morning.”

Lu Jingyan: “Brother, you’re awake?”

Sheng Xian, who wasn’t in a rush to get up, asked her, “Have you had breakfast?”

Lu Jingyan: “I’m eating right now, what about you, Brother?”

Sheng Xian: “In a bit.”

Lu Jingyan: “Brother, you don’t mean ‘in a bit.’ You mean ‘wait a bit,’ right?”

Sheng Xian: “Hmm?”

Lu Jingyan: “Don’t all guys need to ‘wait a bit’ in bed after waking up in the morning, otherwise would you go out all big like that?”

That girl’s brain could never be normal for more than three seconds.

Sheng Xian threw down his phone with a snap.

Whether it was her comment or not, that day he took twice as long as usual to get out of bed.

The girl, seeing he was not replying to her messages, probably realized she had gone too far and spent the whole day trying to charm him with cuteness and whining.

It wasn’t until that night, after getting home and taking a shower, that Sheng Xian lay on the bed and deigned to reply with a string of ellipses.

Lu Jingyan replied super quickly: “Brother, it’s so late. Have you taken a shower?”

Sheng Xian thought to himself if she ever had anything else to do as she always replied instantly whenever he messaged. While pressing the screen, he replied: “Hmm.”

Lu Jingyan: “How long did you shower?”

Sheng Xian: “Less than ten minutes, I guess.”

Lu Jingyan: “That’s quite fast. It takes me at least half an hour to shower.”

Lu Jingyan: “Brother, I have a question.”

Sheng Xian: “Go ahead.”

Lu Jingyan: “You take ten minutes to shower, and I take half an hour. If we showered together, how long would it take?”

Unsurprisingly, after that message from Lu Jingyan, no matter how sweet and cute she tried to be, she couldn’t get even a begrudging ellipse from Professor Sheng anymore.

Days passed by one by one, and soon it was the end of the month.

On the 27th, virtually all colleges were on holiday, with only half a month left until New Year’s Eve.

Though she wasn’t busy, while at work, her secretary would still run into the office occasionally to get Lu Jingyan’s approval on some documents.

Today, for some reason, her secretary had only reported to her office once in the morning and then never entered again.

Chen Kai was not fully awake yet, Song Xian was working on the annual report, Sheng Xian was still restraining himself from replying to her ellipses, and Lu Jingyan suddenly found herself unable to find anyone to talk to.

Usually, the days flew by, but today was exceptionally slow.

Lu Jingyan watched a movie for a while to pass the time, but bored, she went for a walk.

Everyone in the company was busy at their desks. They greeted her with a “Boss Lu” when they saw her, and there was no follow-up. She eventually ended up in the pantry.

Mister Yang, who often freeloaded in her company’s pantry, was unexpectedly present today.

Lu Jingyan figured she must have been extremely bored as she actually chatted for a while with this ex-boyfriend whom she had deleted from her contacts: “Give up on me, okay? The world is full of better people, why hang up on me alone?”

“Really, look, I don’t treat you well at all. You come to find me at my company every day, and even bring me gifts. I ignore you every time you come, and on top of that, I complain about you freeloading here and charge you for it.”

When she returned to her office, Lu Jingyan felt the world had become eerily quiet.

She listlessly lay on her desk, absentmindedly playing with her keyboard.

It wasn’t like she hadn’t had idle days before, but she hadn’t felt this bored.

Lu Jingyan thought to herself that she might go shopping, but once she made up her mind to do so, she couldn’t muster the enthusiasm to actually go out.

Lu Jingyan’s face was pressed against the table, gazing at the sun about to set outside the window, she blinked her eyes, and somehow, she found herself staring at a bunch of bright red clouds on the horizon, thinking of Sheng Xian.

She was startled.

After a while, she slowly opened her mouth.

She wasn’t bored out of her wits or terribly idle; she missed him.

When she first met him, every time she saw him, she told him she missed him.

But that casual “miss you” she used to say wasn’t the same as the missing she felt today.

She missed him a lot.

It was the kind of missing that came from the bottom of her heart.

This was the first time Lu Jingyan, at the age of twenty-six, understood what it felt like to miss someone.

Lu Jingyan made the call to Sheng Xian at eight o’clock at night.

The phone rang several times, but no one answered; just as she was about to hang up, the call was picked up.

“Hello?”

It was a strange male voice, sounding quite cheerful.

Lu Jingyan paused, thinking she had dialed the wrong number. She brought her phone up to check and confirmed it was Sheng Xian’s number before lifting the phone back to her ear.

The male voice spoke again, “Looking for Asheng?”

Asheng.

Such a familiar pronunciation.

And it wasn’t Chen Kai.

Lu Jingyan suddenly felt very distant from Sheng Xian’s social circle.

Seeing that no one was speaking on this end, the voice on the phone became impatient, raising its volume, “Hello! Hello, hello! Hello, hello, hello! Little Fish!”

Lu Jingyan: “??”

Little Fish?

Sheng Xian had saved her as Little Fish?

Lu Jingyan, with a stony face, right before the person on the other end could no longer bear the silence and break down, asked, “Who are you?”

“What the? Is that a woman?”

Lu Jingyan: “…”

“Hair?”

Lu Jingyan: “…”

Was this person crazy?

Lu Jingyan rolled her eyes unabashedly, her voice cold as she asked, “How did you get Sheng Xian’s phone? What’s your relationship with Sheng Xian?”

“That’s a long story…”

“Then don’t tell it.” Lu Jingyan interrupted the person on the line, and while he was momentarily taken aback, she added, “Just give the phone to Sheng Xian, let him answer.”

“He can’t take the call right now.” Zhuang Chen, as if suddenly remembering something, swallowed back his words about calling back later, “Are you free right now? If so, could you please bring over some sobering medicine?”

“Sheng Xian had a drink?”

The reply was off-topic: “Beijing Grand Hotel, Room 2001.” Then the call was disconnected.

Lu Jingyan stared at her phone, listening to its monotonous beeps, stood for a while, then called out, “Aunt Sun.”

“What is it, Miss Lu?” Aunt Sun, wearing an apron, hurried out of the kitchen.

Lu Jingyan asked, “Do we have any sobering medicine at home?”

“Yes, I’ll go get it for you right now.” Aunt Sun wiped her hands and headed to the medicine box.

Lu Jingyan hummed in acknowledgment, then went upstairs. She randomly put on some clothes and was about to go downstairs; remembering the stranger who had answered Sheng Xian’s phone, she thought for a bit, turned back, and applied a light makeup in front of the mirror.

Half an hour later, Lu Jingyan got out of the car.

She held her phone and tried calling Sheng Xian again, no response, so she reluctantly climbed up the stairs to the second floor.

Upon reaching the door of Room 2001, Lu Jingyan knocked politely.

The inside might have been too noisy, as they didn’t hear her knocking, she patiently knocked a few more times, and seeing that no one opened the door, she had no choice but to push the door open: “Excuse me….”

Lu Jingyan hadn’t finished speaking when she saw a room full of strange faces, both men and women, and was taken aback.
