Chapter 106 - 106 103 Quite a Slim Waist_2

Chapter 106: Chapter 103 Quite a Slim Waist_2 Chapter 106: Chapter 103 Quite a Slim Waist_2 The power of those four characters “Sheng Xian” was simply too great. She slept only after 3 AM and woke up before 6 AM.

She lingered in bed for half an hour, realizing she could not fall back asleep. She then turned over, got out of bed, and freshened up.

After a hasty breakfast, she went to the company with dark circles under her eyes. When she entered the office building, the receptionist hadn’t even arrived for work—it was quiet, and she was alone.

It wasn’t until noon that Lu Jingyan finally felt sleepy. He napped for four hours in the office’s rest area, then called the driver, took the car keys, and instructed him to finish work early. He drove to Sheng Xian’s place to change his dressing.

On the way, she had messaged Sheng Xian. At his apartment’s parking garage, she realized he had responded with a new message ten minutes prior.

It was six digits.

Lu Jingyan exited the car while walking toward the elevator, pressing her phone and sending back a “?”

Soon, the phone rang.

Sheng Xian: “The door code.”

Lu Jingyan was just about to ask, “Not at home?” when another message from him came in.

Sheng Xian: “At the property management, will be back soon.”

The elevator stopped at the first floor, the doors opened, and there was Sheng Xian with a document in his hand, heading to the property management.

“…”

It was quite a coincidence.

As Lu Jingyan put her phone away, she casually remarked, “Oh, what a coincidence.”

Sheng Xian hummed a response and pressed the elevator button for his floor.

Lu Jingyan glanced at the password he had sent on her phone. It turned out she wouldn’t need it today, but she memorized it secretly anyway.

After applying Sheng Xian’s medicine, Lu Jingyan decided to have dinner with him as well.

This week was the last before the Spring Festival break, requiring them to work all seven days. Lu Jingyan visited Sheng Xian every day.

It soon approached the day Sheng Xian’s stitches were to be removed. His family doctor was busy with a surgery scheduled to end at 10 PM.

As the end of the year approached and the family doctor planned to take a year-end holiday, Lu Jingyan thought although the time was late, it was better than having the doctor work an extra day just for Sheng Xian.

Conveniently, both Chen Kai and Song Xian would be leaving Beijing the next day—one returning home for the New Year, the other flying to Hainan for the holiday with family.

The three of them agreed to have their last dinner of the lunar year together.

These past evenings, Lu Jingyan had dined with Sheng Xian. When she messaged him that she wouldn’t come for dinner tonight, she casually asked if he wanted to join them.

Sheng Xian declined her invitation, mentioning he had some private matters that evening.

Lu Jingyan didn’t probe further and confirmed with him to meet around 10 PM to see the family doctor.

Midway through dinner, Chen Kai suddenly blurted out, “Yan Yan, do you know Yang Xu?”

Hearing this name drew a momentary blank from Lu Jingyan before she remembered who it was. Her expression turned cold: “Yes, Lu Zhou urged his dad to introduce us.”

Song Xian, not knowing who they were discussing, chimed in, “Is it another matchmaking attempt?”

“Yes.” Lu Jingyan sipped her juice and looked at Chen Kai, “How do you know about this? I don’t recall telling you. What, has someone been spreading rumors?”

Chen Kai waved his hands dismissively, “No, no, not at all. Ever since you started keeping tabs on my brother, you’ve practically been a recluse. I recently went to a bar, and several owners asked whether you had gone abroad. Yan Bao, I mean no offense, but you’ve been so low-profile that the rumors about you have nearly been forgotten.”

Lu Jingyan glanced at Chen Kai, annoyed by his babbling, “Can you just get to the point?”

“The point is, no one is spreading rumors about you. I only know about it because Yang Xu is my brother’s half-brother.”

Lu Jingyan paused while cutting her steak and, after a few seconds, looked up at Chen Kai: “What did you say?”

“Yang Xu is my cousin, the half-brother of my brother.”

Lu Jingyan gripped her knife and fork tighter, fell silent for a moment, and then asked, “So, he knows about me and Yang Xu?”

“He knows, of course, he knows. He even fought Yang Xu over you—didn’t you know?” Chen Kai looked at Lu Jingyan’s bewildered face and exclaimed in surprise: “You really didn’t know? My brother didn’t tell you? It was just last month, at Dynasty. Yang Xu insulted you, and my brother smashed a wine bottle on his head right there. He was hospitalized that very night, and the next day, his mother went straight to my brother. Just yesterday or the day before, I heard from my aunt that they had another argument, roughly about Yang Xu taking a liking to you. Your families have business together, so she told my brother to stay away from you, something about him stealing Yang Xu’s stuff—but I’m not too clear on the details since I wasn’t there, and I only heard bits and pieces while my aunt was gossiping with my mom… eh, Yan Bao, where are you going?”

Song Xian: “Yan Yan!”

“…”

Lu Jingyan ignored both of them, grabbed her bag and coat, and stormed out.

She hadn’t expected the world to be so small, small enough that the only matchmaking encounter she hid from Chen Kai and Song Xian would turn out to be Sheng Xian’s half-brother.

The reason she had kept it a secret was precisely to prevent Sheng Xian from finding out.

No matter what, she couldn’t let Sheng Xian misunderstand her relationship with Yang Xu.

Lu Jingyan hailed a cab and went straight to Sheng Xian’s place.

At the entrance of the complex, she completed the payment with her phone’s QR code and hurriedly got out of the cab. Just as she was about to cross the street, she saw Sheng Xian exiting from the complex entrance.

He was not alone.

A girl accompanied him—a very pretty girl with big eyes, looking around seventeen or eighteen years old.

Lu Jingyan suddenly remembered Sheng Xian’s message: “You guys have dinner, I have some private matters tonight.”

Private matters.

Discussing private matters with a girl.

Sheng Xian looked toward the street across, and before Lu Jingyan’s brain could react, her body instinctively hid behind a parked car.

PS: Guess who this girl is
