Chapter 199: You are teasing me again!
Chapter 199: You are teasing me again!
"Youthful and unbeatable beauty of a boss lady, two more bowls of wontons please." As Qinglian approached, Mu Hanyan said cheerily, turning her head to the old woman.
"Okay, okay, just a moment, right away." The old woman squinted her eyes as she smiled. Big Playboy Mu didn’t seem as terrifying as the rumors suggested, he was actually a sweet kid.
Hearing Mu Hanyan’s words, the old man turned his head and glared fiercely at her, only to be scolded by the old woman: "You old coot, what are you glaring at? At your age your eyesight must be failing, and you still glare, want to go blind? When you’re blind, you’ll just have me to look after you forever, huh? Dream on!"
"No, no, it was just a twitch in my eye. How could I let you take care of me, didn’t we agree that I’d look after you for our whole life?" The old man hurriedly protested his innocence.
Listening to this old couple’s bickering, Mu Hanyan felt a bittersweet ache.
Enough with displaying your love, have you considered the feelings of a single like me? So early in the morning, too. A little display feels heartwarming, but any more and I’ll start getting jealous.
"Qinglian, come sit, come sit, I’ve missed you these past few days." Mu Hanyan looked at Qinglian’s chubby cheeks and felt the urge to pinch them again. Considering they were in public and she needed to protect Qinglian’s reputation, Mu Hanyan managed to hold back her devilish hands. After all, in the eyes of the public, she was now a man, and a scandalously notorious playboy at that.
"Mu Hanyan, why are you in such high spirits today, eating wontons here alone without your entourage?" Qinglian sat down, then turned and gestured for her maid and guard to sit at the next two tables.
"This old man’s temper isn’t great, but the wontons are quite tasty," Mu Hanyan replied with a smile, "Help yourself, it’s on me. Whatever your maid and guards want to eat, just order it, it’s all on me."
"Mu Hanyan, you’re the best!" Qinglian laughed with satisfaction.
"You’re drooling." Mu Hanyan said with a serious face.
"What? Really?" Qinglian hurriedly touched her mouth corners, and upon finding nothing, glared at Mu Hanyan, "You’re teasing me again!"
"Who would I tease if not my adorable Qinglian? It would be against all conscience not to!" Mu Hanyan chuckled. But to outsiders, it obviously looked like the Big Playboy was flirting with a decent young lady.
"Humph, see, old woman, I told you this kid is no good, fooling so many innocent girls..." The old man muttered as he prepared the wontons and placed them on the tray in the old woman’s hands.
"Shut it. Which eye of yours saw her fooling anyone? They are clearly friends," the old woman rebuked irritably before serving the wontons.
"I know, I just don’t like it. He praised you, only I should be able to praise you, humph..." The old man grumbled, turning back to cook more wontons. He wasn’t a fool; after all, how else would he have pursued and won over his wife, beautiful as a flower, back in the day? He could obviously sense the harmonious vibe between Big Playboy Mu and Miss Qinglian. And from their conversation, he realized that Big Playboy Mu might not be as bad as the rumors claimed. This world always exaggerates the truth.
Qinglian and Mu Hanyan had started eating their wontons.
"After this, what do you want to eat? How about I treat you to a nice meal at Jade Building for lunch today? I promised you a feast if I won over Mu Feng last time, but we never got the chance. How about today?" Mu Hanyan said while munching on her wontons.
"Sure, sure, can I get the braised pork knuckle from there to take away?" Qinglian’s face lit up at the mention of good food.
(There’s been trouble at home, so only two updates today; none tonight. Birth, aging, sickness, death, joy, and separation, everyone experiences them, right? I think many people must have too many regrets about leaving this world. My grandfather is over a decade older than my grandmother, and his condition has been worsening these days. He always tells my grandmother not to be sad, not to cry. Hearing this really breaks my heart. To have been partners for a lifetime and now to be faced with being apart, the one left behind must endure a lot of sadness. I hope everyone treasures what they have.)
