Chapter 131: 131 Difficult Brothers
This time, having learned from Zong Dingfang’s lesson, He Songhua naturally did not underestimate Mu Hanyan, and as soon as he took action, his Tenth Rank Swordsman’s cultivation burst forth with all his might.
The sound of the sword thundered, the light flashed like lightning, and the entire sky darkened ominously.
Huayue and the others changed color again, just now Mu Hanyan had seriously injured Zong Dingfang, which in their eyes was clearly related to Zong Dingfang’s underestimation and not having used his full strength.
But this time, He Songhua was going all out, obviously intending to end Mu Hanyan’s life with one sword strike, leaving no chance for Mu Hanyan’s good fortune. Unfortunately, the gap between the Tenth Rank and the Third Tier was simply too vast, they didn’t even have the chance to intervene against He Songhua’s unrestrained sword strike.
"Ah well, since you’re so keen on joining that old lecher, I might as well oblige you," Mu Hanyan said with a face of calm, as he thrust out with his sword once more.
The same charge forward, resigning oneself to death for the hope of life, the same dance of frost and a sky filled with fluttering snowflakes, everything was exactly the same as the sword he used against Zong Dingfang.
"Hmph, still the same move? Do you think I’m Old Man Zong, to fall for your trick? Go to hell!" Seeing Mu Hanyan using the same sword move, He Songhua sneered with disdain.
It must be said, at this moment, He Songhua’s mindset was exactly like Zong Dingfang’s. In the darkness, the fates of these two unfortunate brothers seemed as if they were already destined.
"Clang—" Another sound of a sword’s dragon roar came forth, and He Songhua too spat out fresh blood, landing right beside his unfortunate brother.
"How... how is this possible? The power within this sword, it’s definitely not as simple as that of an Eighth Rank Swordsman!" He Songhua clutched his chest, speaking with a pale face. He could feel that Mu Hanyan’s true realm was actually just the Sixth Rank Peak, but why was the power within the sword so overwhelming, even he, a Tenth Rank Great Swordsman, couldn’t withstand it?
No one answered his question, Mu Hanyan naturally wouldn’t explain, and Huayue and others, like He Songhua, were all dumbfounded.
If the previous serious injury to Zong Dingfang was the result of concealing one’s strength and catching him off guard, with a fair bit of luck involved, then how would this instance be explained?
He Songhua naturally couldn’t think of an answer, but he did realize another matter, glaring viciously at Zong Dingfang.
He’d been deceived!
"You damn old fossil, how dare you set me up!" He Songhua roared with eyes flaming, if looks could kill, Zong Dingfang would likely have been torn to pieces by him.
"Heh heh, since we’re companions on this journey, we should share weal and woe together, otherwise, it would tarnish your reputation. How could you show your face to anyone in the future?" Zong Dingfang said mockingly, his words an echo of what He Songhua had said before, insinuating his own involvement had been coerced by him.
"Utter nonsense! It’s clear you were afraid I’d monopolize that strange treasure, and that’s why you dragged me into this mess," snarled He Songhua through gritted teeth, now fully aware of Zong Dingfang’s intentions.
"So what if that’s true? I’m wounded like this; if you were to obtain that strange treasure, would you share a single piece with me?" Old Man Zong did not deny it but replied with a cold laugh.
"You damned conniving old fool, it’s not my fault you’re incompetent and got seriously injured, and yet you dare to deceive me. I’ll fight you to the end." He Songhua acknowledged the truth in Zong Dingfang’s words but couldn’t swallow his indignation. He leapt forward and his fist smashed into Zong Dingfang’s face.
"To say that I deceived you, if it weren’t for you wanting to be a saint and wanting to erect a monument of virtue, forcing me to act, would I have been wounded like this? You’re the real scammer, your dad’s a scamming bastard, your mom’s a scammer, your whole family are scammers!" Zong Dingfang struck him with a punch that sent him flying ten yards away, jumped up cursing like a fishwife, and then charged at him furiously.
