Chapter 404: 403 Going dark, kidnapped the wrong person (2nd update)

At this moment, the hotel surveillance had located Zoe Payne’s position.

William Hale felt the temperature around him plummet into cold silence as he watched her being supported into the elevator. The hotel manager, who was originally by his side explaining that their hotel security was excellent and Mrs. Hale would certainly not come to harm, broke into a cold sweat upon seeing the surveillance footage.

While walking to the room, he was on the phone, calling the housekeeping manager to bring a master key.

Tim Payne was also rushing to the guest room, followed closely by Cressida Jones.

Everything had been fine,

How could anything have gone wrong?

When the two arrived, they saw from a distance that William Hale had already reached the door.

He didn’t even knock but simply lifted his foot –

Putting all his strength into it!

With a single kick,

He smashed the door wide open.

The lock broke, and the door slammed so hard against the wall behind it that it made a thunderous noise, scaring the man inside witless as he had just taken off his pants, now realizing more and more that something was off with the person on the bed.

He checked his phone.

The affairs of both the Jeans and Jones families were causing an uproar, with numerous photos and videos online. Still, most were indecent clips featuring Marigold Jones and Beckett Jeans, with many faces blurred out.

He finally found one concerning Cressida Jones.

Upon comparison,

It nearly scared his soul out of him!

It was over,

He had mistaken the person!

Was Marigold out of her mind? This clearly wasn’t her sister.

Those who could afford to be here were either rich or noble. The man, realizing he had caused a bad situation, hurriedly covered Zoe Payne, who he had just undressed, with her coat, "Miss, I am truly sorry, I mistook you for someone else."

Upon hearing these words, Zoe Payne sighed in relief.

At least, he wasn’t going to do anything to her.

Mistaken for someone else?

Then who was the person he originally wanted to abduct!

"This is just a bit of knockout drug, the effects will fade quickly, please don’t call the police," the man said, intending to put on his pants and leave.

But then—

"BANG—" a loud noise startled him, causing his entire body to shudder.

His fingers trembled, and the pants he had just lifted nearly fell off.

Thinking it was over, he pulled up his pants and tried to run.

Barely stepping out of the bedroom, he almost bumped into William Hale!

Dressed in a finely tailored three-piece suit, he emanated a frigid, daunting aura, looking down on him with eyes so cold as if he were staring at a worthless ant.

Just the lowering of his eyebrows and eyes sent out an oppressive aura that hit you face-on, with a bitterly cold ambiance...

The slicing wind made one’s heart tremble with panic.

His gaze swept over the man’s still unfastened pants, his expression even darker and more terrifying!

"Who are you? This is my room, by what right do you just barge in..." The man tried to stay calm and was about to push him out, but before his fingers could touch his clothes, William Hale grabbed his hand.

With force, he twisted—

The man immediately screamed in pain, and before he could react, his head was pressed and slammed into the wall.

The loud noise frightened everyone behind to a point where they dared not even breathe.

"Who am I?" William Hale’s tone was chilling.

"You took away my wife and have the nerve to ask who I am!"

His fingers let go, and his eyes seemed stained with blood, a deep crimson as he viciously raised his foot—

He kicked fiercely at the man!

The man’s limp body, like a pile of mud, fell weakly to the ground.

Clutching his chest, he felt a severe pain as if his heart and lungs had shifted positions, coughing up blood.

Wife?

This must be Mr. Hale.

At this moment, he was in too much chest pain to think clearly.

William Hale stepped over him and entered the room.

The man subconsciously reached out to block him.

He received another kick.

His body struck the wall like an arrow released from its bowstring.

It seemed as though a gust of wind passed through, causing the air to rustle and stir.

"Cough, cough—" The man curled up, continuously vomiting blood, his entire face twisted and deformed by pain. As he tried to move again, Kyle Lowe had already stepped forward to hold him down.

Zac Cruz stood by the door, not allowing the hotel staff to enter.

When William Hale entered the bedroom, he saw Zoe Payne lying on the bed, her body covered with a coat.

Ultimately, nothing had happened, and the man hadn’t done anything over the line. She was merely terrified by the unexpected situation.

Seeing William Hale, Zoe felt a grievance and her eyes couldn’t help but well up with a hint of redness.

She couldn’t speak, obviously drugged.

He strode to the bed, tidied her clothes, and picked her up.

"Ning Ning—" Tim Payne also rushed into the room.

"Brother, it’s nothing; don’t worry," William Hale could only soothe Tim Payne like this.

"Mr. Hale, the hotel has a doctor on site. I’ll contact him immediately to have him check on Mrs. Hale first," Cressida Jones had seen a doctor tending to Marigold Jones’ wounds in the VIP room earlier.

The doctor should not have left in such a short time.

"Thank you for that," William Hale said with a grim expression.

Tim Payne cast a chilling glance at the man who, terrified to the core, stammered, "No...it’s not my fault, I was just paid to do a job."

"Who’s behind this?"

"It’s..." He hesitated, weighing whether or not to betray Marigold Jones.

"Speak up!"

Tim Payne then bellowed angrily, scaring the soul out of him.

"It looks like you know. Not talking?" Tim Payne gave Kyle Lowe a meaningful look, "If he won’t talk, then there’s no need to!"

"Cover his mouth..."

"Beat him to death!"

The voice was icily thin, freezing to the bone.

Cressida Jones didn’t often interact with Tim Payne. He usually exuded a sophisticated and elegant demeanor of a nobleman. She never expected him to have such a ruthless side.

"Junior President Payne, what if he dies from the beating?" Kyle Lowe didn’t pull his punches.

"Then it’s his bad luck!"

Junior President Payne?

The man’s face turned ashen, and as he looked at the person held in William Hale’s arms, he cursed himself:

No wonder she looked familiar,

This was none other than the Payne family’s young miss who just had her wedding.

Mr. Hale, Junior President Payne...

It’s over!

Is Marigold Jones trying to kill me?

He wished he could just black out and faint.

"Junior President Payne, it’s got nothing to do with me. Marigold Jones made me do it!"

He immediately spoke up, directly throwing Marigold Jones under the bus.

Cressida Jones was about to accompany Zoe Payne to see the doctor but stopped in her tracks upon hearing this.

Even William Hale stopped and turned to look at him.

"Marigold Jones wanted to harm my sister?" The mention of that name also surprised Tim Payne.

"No, not... no," the man shook his head, "She wanted to target her sister, Cressida Jones. She only said her sister would be wearing a champagne-colored suit today, and told me the approximate location. I didn’t expect to target the wrong person."

William Hale looked down, glancing at his wife’s clothing.

Indeed, it was a champagne-colored suit.

Upon hearing this, Cressida Jones felt as though the sky was falling.

She never imagined that Zoe Payne’s ordeal that night was actually taking the bullet for herself.

"Has Marigold Jones left?" Tim Payne asked.

The hotel manager hurried forward, "She should still be here; the Jeans family’s engagement party isn’t over yet."

"Take him along!" Tim Payne signaled Kyle Lowe with his eyes. He dragged the man by the arm and walked out; his pants still hung around his legs, leaving him with just his underwear.

Mom, at least let me put on some clothes.

He was dragged out like an animal!

They really didn’t treat him like a human being.
