Mrs Hale, I Surrender
Chapter 388 - 387 What is meant by breaking in, are we suitable for each other?

Chapter 388: 387 What is meant by breaking in, are we suitable for each other?

Sussie Lopez felt quite sore for a few days after their previous vigorous encounter, and Finn Hale had since exercised restraint.

He barely touched her, nor did he make any indecent moves.

Until the night before returning to the capital, Finn Hale went out to meet a friend and by the time he returned, Sussie Lopez had already taken a bath and was sitting on the bed looking at her phone. From a distance, she could smell the faint scent of tobacco on him and slightly frowned.

He sat down next to the bed and stretched out his hand to touch her face.

The roughness of his fingertips rubbed against her delicate skin, tickling her.

Sussie Lopez wanted to dodge, but her head was steadied by him, immobilizing her.

When he leaned in close, his nose grazed against hers. When the distance was extremely close, their breaths mingled...

Eager,

Chaotic.

He made no move, just lightly grazing and grinding against her, which was unbearably uncomfortable.

Sussie Lopez couldn’t take it anymore and tilted her head up to kiss him, but he dodged, "Are you going to kiss me or not?"

"Shouldn’t you give me a proper title now?"

"You’re already my boyfriend."

"I want more than that."

What Finn Hale desired, of course, was engagement and marriage. Sussie Lopez understood his meaning and cleared her throat, "Isn’t it too soon? Our relationship hasn’t been long, and we should really spend more time seeing if we are truly suitable for each other."

Finn Hale brought this up also because his father had been urging him.

With photos spreading everywhere, he definitely had to take responsibility for the lady.

"I think you make sense, we do need to take time to adjust," Finn Hale nodded earnestly.

As his words fell, he had already leaned down and kissed her.

His fingers slid down, resting on her waist...

Gently stroking,

Her breathing grew heavy,

Sussie Lopez felt a ticklish sensation on her waist, and when she tried to dodge, she was already pressed down on the bed.

The bedroom, clearly without any wind, yet she felt the ceiling light above swinging violently, and her entire body seemed to be immersed in scorching hot springs, provoking sweats all over.

Her reason dissipated, her body, swaying on the brink.

His lips lingered on her ear, kissing her gently and tenderly.

"Is this kind of adjustment... okay?"

"Are we a good match?"

His voice, soaked in liquor, continuously tempted her, occupying all her consciousness.

What she meant,

Was not about this kind of thing, right?

Yet Finn Hale took the opportunity and made quite an ordeal out of her.

During the trip back to the capital, she was almost always asleep.

Even when Finn Hale received a call from Old Sir Hale, she did not wake up. Only when she opened her eyes did Finn Hale say, "My parents want to invite you over for dinner."

"Today?"

"Not necessarily, it depends on your schedule."

"Let’s do it tomorrow, I want to go home and tidy up a bit." It would be inappropriate to visit the Hale Family looking travel-worn.

——

It was Sussie Lopez’s first visit as Finn Hale’s girlfriend, and Old Sir Hale had already warned everyone at home early on, "Mind your words and be measured. If you scare her away, you will have me to answer to!"

"Remember, be enthusiastic, generous, talk less, do more."

"Brock, William, even though your children are grown, as older brothers, don’t act high and mighty, scaring the young lady away."

Old Sir Hale was still hoping to be able to see his granddaughter in his lifetime.

Everyone was speechless:

In this house, you are the most intimidating!

Wyatt Hale, who was on winter break, was specifically singled out for a warning: "Mind your words, don’t say anything unnecessary."

Wyatt Hale nodded.

All right, he decided to play mute today.

Zoe Payne also specially rushed back from the Payne Family today, and upon entering the room, she saw Wyatt Hale walk over to her and pointed at the tea and snacks on the long table, seemingly asking if she wanted some.

"Wyatt, what’s wrong with you? Lost your voice?"

Wyatt Hale shook his head and poured her a glass of water.

Zoe Payne tilted her head towards William Hale: "Did you poison him into silence?"

William Hale felt a headache coming on. "Is that really how you see me in your heart?"

When Finn Hale arrived home with Sussie Lopez, Wyatt Hale was still the most enthusiastic, helping to carry gifts and pouring tea, but he wouldn’t say a word, which made Sussie Lopez even wonder if the kid had been poisoned into muteness.

The Hale Family members were all particularly warm and welcoming, which left Sussie Lopez feeling a bit flustered.

"Eat more, you seem to have lost some weight since we last saw you," the Old Lady said smilingly as she invited her to dine.

Sussie Lopez snuck a glance at Finn Hale with the corner of her eye.

Haven’t I lost weight?

She usually dedicated herself to design, often skipping meals when busy. After being bothered by Finn Hale for a few days, she nearly broke in half; how could she have any appetite for food?

"Don’t just focus on your work; let Finn take you out more," the Old Lady said with a laugh.

"Where can we go in such cold weather?" Old Sir Hale sipped his liquor.

Old Sir Hale was in high spirits today.

At his age, his desires were few; his greatest concerns were his sons, William Hale and his youngest, Finn Hale.

Since the mother of William Hale had passed away early, Old Sir Hale naturally favored him a bit more. If he saw that William Hale had succeeded in his business and settled down with a family, all his hopes would then fall on his youngest son...

Seeing him bring a girl home now, he was naturally happier than anyone else.

"Right, in a few days, the Jeans Family and Jones Family have an engagement party. They’ve sent invitations; you can all go join the fun," Lily Lott suddenly mentioned.

It wasn’t surprising she did,

The Jones Family’s eldest Miss chatted amiably with Hannah Johnson and Sussie Lopez at the wedding, sitting at the same table.

She didn’t understand the social circles of the younger generation and thought they were close.

"The Jones Family..." Sussie Lopez murmured.

"I will go too," Zoe Payne said with a smile.

Wyatt Hale, who had been eating quietly until then, suddenly brightened up at this statement.

Being home on winter break was boring anyway.

He knew his sister-in-law pretty well; the end of the year was packed with events, and since everyone knew it was difficult to approach his eldest brother directly, they tried every trick in the book to please the sister-in-law. Invitations to all sorts of evening events even found their way to her store.

Yet she hadn’t attended a single one.

Why on earth would she suddenly decide to go to an engagement party?

Finally, Wyatt Hale, who had been mute so far this evening, uttered his first sentence of the night: "Sister-in-law, take me with you."

"Want to go?" William Hale quietly asked his wife.

He wasn’t exactly fond of those two families, especially after what had transpired at the hotel where his own wedding had taken place.

"Let’s go."

"Is the Jeans Family getting engaged to the Second Miss Jones?" William casually asked.

After all, the incident of that night was well-known by everyone.

"It’s the eldest Miss."

"..."

Upon hearing this, William Hale’s eyes revealed a hint of surprise, "Just because of that, you want to watch the spectacle?"

"Not just that."

"Then why?"

"I just feel like, this engagement party might not happen."

"Sister-in-law, why do you think that?" Wyatt Hale leaned in, full of curiosity.

"Intuition."

"Oh, right," Zoe Payne turned to Finn Hale and Sussie Lopez, "little uncle, my brother asked me to check when you and Miss Lopez are free. He said he owes you a meal."

Sussie Lopez frowned slightly:

Since when did her senior owe her a meal?

She didn’t remember that.

This matter made Tim Payne feel annoyed every time he thought about it; he felt that Finn Hale had tricked him. When someone mentioned that he fancied a girl and was in pursuit, he blurted out without thinking, claiming that he would host a meal to thank the girl for ridding the people of an evil.

Finn Hale had been riding high with happiness recently, not remembering the meal at all.

But Tim Payne was a man of his word and didn’t want to go back on his promise.
