Chapter 348: Uncle 347 confesses: Come and like me
Chapter 348: Uncle 347 confesses: Come and like me
Sussie Lopez stared at the window for a few seconds, and Declan Saunders asked with concern, "What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
"I’m fine, thank you for taking me back."
"It’s what I should do."
"I’ll need to trouble Brother Saunders with work matters."
"We are so familiar, you don’t need to be so polite with me." Declan Saunders smiled at her and asked if she needed help to heat the water.
Lopez was well aware of his feelings toward her, but he had never confessed.
"Tomorrow is Christmas, do you have any plans?"
"I’m being discharged, going home."
"Staying at Junior President Payne’s place?"
"I don’t want to bother my senior."
"Just you alone at night? Want me to stay and accompany you?"
Lopez smiled faintly, "We are just colleagues, it’s not proper for a man and a woman to be alone together."
Just colleagues?
These words made Declan Saunders’s expression change slightly, afraid that Lopez would speak words of rejection, "Then I’ll take my leave. Contact me anytime if you need anything."
Declan Saunders left the room and breathed a sigh of relief with tightly furrowed brows.
Leaving the hospital, the festive atmosphere of Christmas was thick. Tonight was Christmas Eve, and there were quite a few stalls selling Christmas apples.
He originally thought that as colleagues working on some projects together, he could take advantage of his proximity. He had hoped to win her over gradually.
But now knowing her special relationship with Tim Payne and with such an outstanding person beside her for comparison, he feared she might not consider him, which naturally made him a bit anxious.
After seeing Declan Saunders off, Lopez glanced again through the window.
Finn Hale had probably left.
She took off her coat, preparing to go to the bathroom, and as soon as she opened the door, a hand reached out and grabbed her wrist. She staggered, and a strong force pulled her inside.
With the sound of the door closing, she was trapped between the door and a person.
No lights were on, the curtains tightly drawn, with only a sliver of light piercing through the gap.
It fell on his face, making his detached and handsome face appear even softer.
In a moment,
her breathing hastened, her heart thumping rapidly.
Because,
he leaned in close, his warm breath fell on her cool face, the mix of hot and cold caused her heart to instantly tighten, but since her right arm had stitches, she dared not struggle too violently, "Mr. Hale..."
"Hmm," he responded.
His voice was low and seductive.
The next second, he seemed to lean even closer, his hands braced on either side of her body, loosely trapping her.
Too close,
close enough that his nose brushed against her face, light and warm.
Lopez instinctively shrank to the side, which provoked Finn Hale to chuckle softly, "Dodging again?"
"It’s ticklish."
"Have you eaten?"
"Yeah."
"Was it tasty?"
"..."
Lopez frowned, what was he asking—all it was just ordinary fast food. What was there to taste? He was so close, his nose brushing against her, again and again...
His lips curled into a smile, his breath tickling her face, making her whole body feel itchy.
"Stay away from that colleague, he doesn’t have good intentions toward you," Finn whispered low.
Without thinking, Lopez blurted out, "He doesn’t have good intentions, what about you?"
"Me?"
Finn chuckled softly, "What I feel for you, don’t you know?"
"You’re inscrutable, who can figure it out? How would I know what you’re thinking... mm—"
Before Lopez could finish her words, Finn slightly tilted his head and pressed his lips heavily onto hers.
The force was a bit strong, her head bumped against the door, but Finn reached out to protect it.
His palm was hot, holding the back of her head, the heat making her scalp tighten, their breaths mingling, his fingers gently passed through her hair.
The intimacy heated up.
Their bodies pressed closely, without any gaps.
Her lips pressed, grinded, bitten...
Her heart fluttered slightly; it wasn’t the first time, but he easily controlled the pace, and with just a few kisses, she was completely under his domination.
"Mr. Hale..." Breath stolen away, she struggled to breathe.
"I’m only a few years older than him, you call him ’brother,’ but call me ’teacher’?"
As he spoke, Finn slightly lowered his head toward her neck, his chin resting on her shoulder, lightly breathing hot air.
The kiss from moments ago had already set her aflame.
The tingling heat, even her breath carried a warm tenderness.
Lopez stiffened her body, not daring to move carelessly.
He tilted his head, his breath biting at her ear, "Sussie, you don’t need to figure out my intentions... just feel them."
Feel...?
Before she could process, Lopez felt a slight sting in her earlobe.
Her heart trembled, then felt her earlobe enveloped by a warm heat, distinctly feeling something licking her earlobe, sweeping over one by one.
Wet, hot.
The sensation was enough to make her body tremble slightly.
Feel?
That was clearly nothing more than flirting.
Just as Lopez thought about pushing him away, there seemed to be footsteps outside, then her phone suddenly vibrated, taking it out to look, it was Declan Saunders.
The phone’s light brightened the bathroom, from Finn’s angle, he could easily see the screen.
This man...
What was he up to!
"Lopez, are you in the bathroom?" Declan’s voice came from outside after hanging up.
"Yes, Brother Saunders, why are you back?"
"Isn’t it Christmas Eve? I bought you some apples."
"Thank you."
Lopez twisted her body slightly because Finn seemed to lean even closer, his lips still not leaving her ear, gently biting.
It didn’t hurt,
But an unusual tingling sensation, even harder to bear than pain.
His voice pressed against her ear, barely audible, "Let him leave..."
Sussie Lopez didn’t want Declan Saunders to stay either.
"Brother Saunders, I’m still washing up. Thanks for the apple, but if there’s nothing else, you can go ahead."
"Is it convenient for you to use your hands?"
Declan Saunders was just a door away from them. Through the gap in the door, he could see...
The bathroom light wasn’t on.
How could she wash up without turning on the lights? In the dark?
"It’s quite convenient, thank you for thinking of me."
"You’re welcome."
Declan Saunders lingered outside the door for a bit over a minute, "I’ll wait for you to come out before I leave."
"I’ll be a while longer."
"Okay then, I’ll leave first. Get some rest early."
Declan Saunders frowned, reluctantly leaving.
Only then did Sussie Lopez breathe a sigh of relief and heard Finn Hale ask, "Do you like him?"
She blurted out, "No."
"But he likes you."
"Do I have to like him just because he likes me?"
"Then I like you, you..."
"Would you like to love me?"
His voice was enticingly dim, tapping a little into her heart.
Like?
Finn Hale said he liked her?
At that moment, Sussie Lopez’s heart raced; his lips moved away from her ear to her cheek, "Today, Tim Payne asked me a question, do you remember what it was?"
Sussie Lopez breathed hurriedly, her throat felt choked, unable to speak.
"He asked if my lips were bitten by the girl I was pursuing."
"I didn’t answer him because I wanted to tell you personally."
"My lips..."
"Were bitten by the girl I like."
His voice was hoarse and dry, uniquely seductive.
Dragging the last sound long, yet his tone extremely serious and solemn, as if carrying a hook, tantalizing her heart.
Sussie Lopez’s face suddenly flushed; if the light had been on, anyone could see that her face was burning, "Mr. Hale, don’t joke with me..."
"Do you think I have that much free time?"
"To come to the hospital at night to keep watch, just to joke with you?"
"If I wanted to find someone to fend off the arranged dates my family sets up, I would have done so a long time ago..."
"I’ve been waiting for you all these years after you left."
With his back against the cool door, his body pressed against hers, trapping her. His near breath, warm on her face, tender and hot.
He leaned in slightly, his nose nuzzling her face.
"Sussie."
"Hmm?" Sussie Lopez pressed back, not daring to move.
"Your face is so hot, like you have a fever."
Sussie Lopez clenched her teeth, "That’s because you’re too close."
"Over the years, have you missed me?" His nose brushed against her, their skins lightly touching, his voice deliberately suppressed, heart-fluttering, "Hmm? Have you?"
"Move away a bit first; you’re making me uncomfortable, my arm hurts..."
Sussie Lopez hurriedly pushed him away; he slightly withdrew half an inch...
She felt a relief, the pressure ebbing, making her feel a bit more comfortable. Suddenly, he grabbed her uninjured hand, pressing it above her head, his body bearing down.
"Finn... Hmm—"
Muffled into silence.
After the kiss, Finn Hale turned his head, speaking into her ear, "I know you might not believe what I say. Before, you used to chase after me, now it’s my turn to chase you."
"Even if you don’t accept me now, don’t like anyone else, okay?"
That voice, low and enticing.
Sussie Lopez’s mind was indeed in turmoil.
After all, the previous Finn Hale...
didn’t like her!
How come he said he had been waiting for her for many years? Sussie Lopez bit her lip, "Right now, I just want to focus on work."
Finn Hale just smiled, not outright rejecting him, which meant there was a chance.
He casually turned on the light...
Sussie Lopez’s already flushed face could no longer hide.
Flustered, she pushed Finn Hale away and quickly left the bathroom, while he followed unhurriedly, adjusting his clothes as he entered the hospital room, where two packaged peace apples were placed on the table.
"Are you staying here tonight?" Sussie Lopez adjusted her breathing, pouring herself a glass of water.
"Hannah asked me to be a caregiver, I need to fulfill my duty."
"You’re that obedient?"
"Mainly for you."
"..."
Now that he had made his feelings clear, Finn Hale spoke more openly than before. Sussie Lopez felt a fire in her heart, drinking some water to calm down.
Finn Hale watched her, "I haven’t eaten yet. Come eat with me."
"It’s too cold, go by yourself."
"Then why did you eat with him?"
Sussie Lopez clenched her teeth; she had never noticed Finn Hale had such a cheeky side before.
It was normal for her to ask Declan Saunders for help and offer him a meal; why was he making such a fuss?
"Forget it, you get a good rest, I’ll go eat alone." It was cold outside, after all, and Finn Hale didn’t want her to go out into the cold.
As he left the hospital room and quickened his pace toward the elevator...
Someone emerged from a corner.
Fingers tensing,
Why was it him!
