Chapter 321: 320 Zoe assists? Uncle wants a blind date? (2 more updates)

Finn Hale didn’t know what his father was thinking; he just went to the construction site after dinner.

Old Mr. Hale moved closer to his wife and whispered, "I’m planning to introduce Finn to someone."

Old Lady Hale lit up upon hearing this, "Aren’t you afraid that the boy will get angry and cause trouble?"

"We’ll just consider it making friends."

"I see he’s been in a good mood recently; don’t push him into running away overnight again."

"..."

"Zoe," Lily Lott suddenly looked at Zoe Payne, "Since it’s about getting married, you and William don’t always know if you’ll be staying in his old room; I’ve already had someone clean up another room."

They were staying in a room at the Old House of Hale Family where William Hale had lived when he was single.

It was a bit small.

"Thank you, Aunt Lott."

"Why be formal with me? I’ll search for someone soon to redesign and redecorate."

A wedding room, after all, must look like a wedding room.

Upon hearing this, Zoe Payne was suddenly moved, "I just recently met an interior designer; she’s my brother’s junior, and I really like her style of decoration."

"That’s good, then have her come over sometime soon," Lily Lott was overseeing the wedding preparations for the first time and found the many tasks overwhelming and chaotic.

Brock Hale had suggested, "Why not let a wedding planning company handle everything? They’re more professional, and it would spare you the trouble."

Lily Lott, however, wanted to do things herself.

She initially wanted to find several designers for Zoe Payne to choose from, but since she had someone she liked, it was naturally even better.

Wyatt Hale’s expression didn’t change:

His own wife was looking to give a helping hand.

However, he was curious as to why his younger brother, Finn, had been so quiet lately; had he missed something?

It’s not that Finn hadn’t moved, it’s just that he wasn’t in a hurry since the person was right under his nose.

After all,

he was worried she might run away if pushed too hard.

---

Zoe Payne had stayed at the Payne Family Mansion for half a month and returned to the Old House of Hale Family. Julia Yates was extremely reluctant to let her go and insisted on sending her off.

Tim Payne was helpless; luckily, his sister had married into Capital City. If she had married somewhere farther, his mother might have moved the whole family there.

On the day she returned to the Old Hale House, she encountered Jovan Gonzalez in the foyer.

As Iva Payne’s husband, his reputation was mixed after the incident.

Some said he was ruthless, to have treated the person by his side so harshly; others said he was selflessly noble, after all, he had saved Zoe.

And after Iva Payne’s mishap, which left her paralyzed, he stayed by her side without abandoning her. Even though he hired a nurse, he always monitored her personally, earning him much praise.

"Uncle, hello," Zoe Payne greeted politely.

Jovan Gonzalez smiled at her, his gaze falling on her legs, "You walk just like anyone else now; your leg must be healed."

"Almost, I just can’t walk too long or run."

After exchanging a few pleasantries, Mr. Payne invited him into the study.

As Zoe Payne got into the car, her mother informed her that Iva Payne’s condition was worsening, and she likely wouldn’t make it through the next year.

In a daze, Zoe remembered the first time she saw Iva Payne:

Beautiful, shrewd, and efficient.

Compared to now, it inevitably made one sigh.

She looked out the window, feeling a tightness in her heart, unable to pinpoint why.

Actually...

She had only met this uncle, Jovan Gonzalez, a few times, but always felt he wasn’t as gentle as he seemed on the surface.

He returned his shares in Payne Corps, and voluntarily resigned.

It seemed no matter how you looked at it, he was a very clear-headed person.

He saved her, and although he couldn’t bring her home at that time to protect her, he shouldn’t have left her alone in the hospital; he should have arranged someone to stay with her.

After all, she was underage and had just suffered a car accident; he shouldn’t have been so careless.

How did he let her get abducted by human traffickers?

The ends that Iva Payne and Celine Payne met were deserved. Zoe Payne didn’t sympathize with villains, but she just felt an uneasy feeling about this uncle.

"What are you thinking about?" Julia Yates took her daughter’s hand.

"Nothing."

"Your aunt brought it upon herself, so don’t worry about it and just look forward to being a happy bride," Julia Yates said, stroking her daughter’s hair with a loving expression.

Zoe nodded. "Mom, what kind of person is my uncle?"

"He’s quite smart; we’ve collaborated on work before. Although we live under the same roof, we don’t have much private interaction," Julia laughed. "Why? Are you curious about him?"

"He is, after all, my lifesaver."

"If you hadn’t mentioned it, I would have almost forgotten," Julia admitted, who had also been busy lately, almost forgetting about that.

"Another day, I’ll have your father or brother organize a gathering to properly thank him."

"It’s just that he’s been at the hospital recently; I don’t know if he’ll be available."

Zoe nodded in agreement.

**

Old House of Hale Family

When Zoe returned home, the first thing she did was to arrange for Sussie Lopez to design the bedroom.

Sussie had already taken on the interior design work of the Sheng Family Mansion and didn’t want to take on more from the Hale Family.

After all, frequenting the Hale Family meant inevitably encountering Finn Hale.

It was just that...

Boss Payne had offered too much!

And he was easy to talk to.

With a client like that, Sussie could wake up from her dreams smiling.

Besides, turning down money would be foolish.

Before she went, she specifically inquired: "Are there any other people at your home right now?"

"Currently, only grandparents are here."

Since Finn wasn’t around, she felt relieved.

Zoe almost laughed out loud:

Miss Lopez specifically asking this must be deliberately avoiding her younger uncle.

Zoe later found out that the Old Man had guests coming over today. Since the wedding preparations started, the Old House had been bustling, and she didn’t think much of it, just wanted to ensure Sussie felt comfortable, so she had Kyle Lowe receive her and made her way to the room from a side hall.

It was Sussie’s first time at the Old House of Hale Family.

She had to admit, Finn’s designs were really good.

She looked at the room layout she needed to design, asked about Zoe’s requirements, took notes, and showed her some past design cases.

As the two were talking, Wyatt Hale suddenly burst in.

"Sister-in-law, there’s drama to watch, let me tell you—"

He stopped midsentence when he saw Sussie, stood straight after a few seconds of shock, and formally said, "Hello, sister."

"My younger uncle, he’s young and a bit impulsive," Zoe said, smiling.

"No worries."

Sussie was curious:

Mr. Hale’s brother seemed quite simple-minded.

How such a person could survive in the Hale Family den was a mystery.

Perhaps it was his strong vitality!

"We’ve pretty much covered everything today; I’ll formulate the design plan as soon as possible. If you have any new ideas, contact me anytime," Sussie told Zoe as they wrapped up their conversation.

"Thank you for your hard work, have a cup of tea before you leave."

The tea was already poured in front of her, and Sussie took a sip.

Wyatt leaned in close to his sister-in-law, and with a voice loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, whispered to her:

"Sister-in-law, let’s go out and watch a play later."

"Whose play?"

"My younger uncle’s."

Sussie sipped her tea, perking up her ears, hoping to catch some gossip about Finn.

If she could catch something on Finn, it would give her leverage to negotiate.

"What happened to him?" Zoe glanced at Miss Lopez beside her.

Perfect, she showed absolutely no interest in her younger uncle’s affairs!

"Grandfather is setting him up on a blind date! The girl is already here, in the living room."

"Cough—" Sussie couldn’t help it and choked on the tea.
