Mrs Hale, I Surrender -
Chapter 314 - 313 Uncle: Still running? Where are you planning to go?
Chapter 314: 313 Uncle: Still running? Where are you planning to go?
Zoe Bell hesitated, undecided.
The other party was her client, and she wanted to do business with her for a long time. But what if her uncle-in-law made a bad impression during delivery and offended the client? What would she do then?
Yet, Zoe was never good at hiding her emotions, and Finn Hale saw right through her.
"Is something wrong?"
"Do you still have any of that air-purifying incense stick that I ordered from you before?"
"Yes."
Zoe smiled at him, "I have a small favor to ask of you."
"Go ahead."
"It might take a bit of your time. I was hoping you could make a delivery for me to a client on your way."
"How do you know I’ll be passing by?"
"..."
Zoe forced a smile and secretly broke out in cold sweat; her uncle-in-law had been in a bad mood lately.
Though she didn’t live at home, she had heard from Wyatt Hale that Finn had recently been wearing a constant frown, making people steer clear of him due to his unpredictable mood.
"If you’re busy, then never mind." Zoe bit her lip, regretting that she had even asked.
"What are you talking about?" In the midst of their conversation, Tim Payne appeared.
"Brother, are you off work?"
"I had a meeting with a client and finished early. I passed by a dessert shop on my way back and got you something to eat." Tim completely doted on her like a little kid, and glanced at Finn, "Don’t bully my sister."
Finn Hale chuckled, "I’m now an elder to you; you should speak to me with more respect."
Tim was at a loss for words:
Since when was he considered an elder!
"Brother, I need your help with something." Zoe said smiling, "I want to send a client some samples."
"For such a small matter, you need my help?"
A simple delivery could be handled by a local courier service.
"The thing is I’ve promised her for a long time and kept delaying, which feels quite embarrassing. If it wasn’t inconvenient for me to go out, I would’ve done it myself." Zoe frowned, "Right, she also attended the family recognition banquet last time."
Tim frowned, "Is that so?"
On that day, he was busy dealing with the mess left by Iva Payne and didn’t have time to pay attention to anyone else.
Upon hearing this, Finn thought deeply.
He spoke leisurely, "I’ll go for you."
"Really?" Zoe responded with surprised delight, "Then I’ll contact her right away and let you know the exact location."
Zoe had her contact information, just a phone call away.
After confirming the location, she informed Finn.
"Her surname is Lopez. She’ll be at a café in the western part of the city close to where she lives. I have arranged to meet her around 6 pm; I’ll send you the location and her phone number later."
The hand Finn had in his pocket tightened slightly.
Surname... Lopez?!

Old House of Hale Family
William Hale didn’t have much work lately. Having been on a business trip for several days and just returned home, he saw his uncle rushing back to his room in haste.
"A man in his thirties, rushing around like that, what does it look like!" Old Sir Hale snorted coldly, "And he’s been sarcastic when he speaks lately, heaven knows what’s got to him."
William drank a sip of tea, "Maybe he’s had some romantic troubles."
"..."
The old man was stunned for a few seconds, then burst into laughter, "If someone can really handle him, I’ll immediately invite her to come home and treat her like an ancestor and worship her."
"He just needs someone to manage him."
About forty minutes later, having changed his clothes, Finn appeared in the front hall holding a package bag emblazoned with the words "Triple & Double." Clearly, he was going out.
"You’re going out at this hour?"
"I have something to do."
"What’s so urgent? Have dinner before leaving."
"I’m running an errand for your fiancee."
Old Sir Hale was taken aback. Him? Running errands? Who would believe that if he said it out loud?
There was definitely something up with the young man.
Clearly having just showered; he didn’t even completely dry his hair before rushing out.
William smiled, "Grandfather, it looks like our family might be celebrating a joyous occasion soon."
The way his uncle was acting,
It seemed he might be off to meet a lady?
Old Sir Hale nodded, thinking he was speaking of his own upcoming wedding. Now that Zoe had been recognized as part of the family, the wedding was definitely a matter to be put on the agenda.
**
In the west of the city, at Seconds Coffee
They had agreed to meet at 6 o’clock, but Finn Hale had arrived at 5, standing by the second-floor window, watching the people and cars below, as time ticked by second by second. Could it be...
It wasn’t her.
The winter sunset slanted and the cold wind blew, as the night sky ready to swallow the entire city.
Finn Hale looked down at his watch, realizing it was now five minutes past the agreed-upon time.
He checked his phone, which held Zoe Bell’s contact information. He sent a message: "Miss Lopez, will you still be coming? I’m waiting for you at Seconds Coffee."
"I’m really sorry, my car got scratched, so I might be a bit late."
"A rear-end collision?"
Worried that he might not believe her, she even took a picture of the scene.
By the surrounding environment and buildings in the photo, it was near the coffee shop. Finn Hale, already impatient from waiting, grabbed his coat and left.
The site of the car scrape was in the parking area less than a hundred meters away from the coffee shop, surrounded by a crowd of seventeen or eighteen people. From a distance, he saw a girl in a beige wool coat entangled in an argument.
"...Why are you like this, young lady? You scratched my car, and you still have the nerve to argue?"
"You didn’t signal before turning, I didn’t know you were going to turn left."
"I did signal!"
"If you don’t believe me, we can check the dashcam footage."
The man was choked up by this and coldly huffed, "It’s just a bit of paint scratched off. Your car isn’t worth much anyway. Hand over your phone, I’ll transfer you the money. Two hundred enough for you? I’m in a hurry."
"I want you to apologize."
"I’ve already offered money, what more do you want?"
"But you didn’t say sorry."
"You..."
The man was in the wrong, but he didn’t want to lose face by apologizing to a young girl, especially with people around whispering and pointing. Feeling that it was a slap to his pride, he bit his lip and said, "Give me your payment code, I’ll give you five hundred. Is that enough?"
"I told you, I just want an apology."
"One thousand!"
"Apologize."
"You’re not trying to scam me for money, are you, young lady? Even one thousand isn’t enough for you? Don’t be excessive."
"Since you don’t want to settle this privately, then I have no choice but to call the police."
It was just a small scratch on the paint, nothing more than a minor friction that could be settled privately. If the traffic police were involved, it would inevitably cause delays. Knowing he was in the wrong, the man gritted his teeth and muttered, "Sorry!"
He turned to leave but was blocked.
"Young lady, what now?"
"Paint repair fee, I’m charging you 250."
"You..."
The man reluctantly paid her, mumbling under his breath, "Such a young age, dressed so well, you’re probably being kept by someone..."
As he grumbled, he couldn’t help but look back at her again—after all, the girl was indeed beautiful. Not paying attention to what was in front of him or under his feet, he stumbled over something.
"Plop—" With a thud,
he ended up face-planting on the ground!
Blood gushed from his nose immediately.
The ground was paved with stone bricks; it was easy to miss in the dark, and a fall was hardly unusual.
The surrounding crowd gasped, and beside him, a man bent down and asked in a low voice, "Sir, are you alright?"
Fine my ass!
He’s bleeding!
The girl looked over at the sound of his voice and caught sight of Finn Hale in the crowd.
He was tall with long legs, his presence clean-cut and dashing, so striking that he seemed out of place among the rest. Her heart skipped a beat.
What kind of misfortune was this?
She could encounter him even here.
She turned and opened the car door, intending to leave, but just as she did, a hand reached out from the side and with a "bang," closed the door!
"Running away again?"
"I have an appointment with someone else, I’m in a hurry."
"Is that so?"
"Really, I’m already more than ten minutes late, I feel quite bad about it," she explained, and then added, "Making someone wait so long, I intended to invite them to dinner, I really don’t have time."
In order to prove to him that she indeed had a date, she took out her phone and made a call.
In an instant,
Finn Hale’s phone rang...
He glanced down, a light smile curling his lips, "So you’re having dinner with me tonight?"
